Today, my boyfriend got on one knee and started talking about how we met. Knowing what was coming, I started tearing up, absolutely sure he was going to propose. Just as I was about to say yes, he quickly stood up and yelled "HAH, JUST KIDDING". FML
Today, at a romantic dinner my boyfriend was treating me to, the waiter brought a "Will you marry me?" cake out, with candles and sparklers. I probably should have checked that they'd brought it to the right table before dramatically screaming ,"Yes!" and jumping into my boyfriend's arms. They hadn't. FML
Today, my boyfriend proposed to me by tossing the ring at me and saying "Here, wear this." FML
Today, my boyfriend of three years proposed to me. He brought me to our favorite restaurant and ordered expensive champagne. It was all very romantic, until he got on one knee and I farted out of surprise. Loudly. FML
Today, at a restaurant, I happily watched as my boyfriend of three years got down on his knees and proposed to me. Before I could say yes and hug him, a girl flung herself at him, kissed him and shouted, "Yes!" With us still highly confused, she then ran away. FML

Today, I decided to pop the question to my beloved. Perfect lighting, fresh cut roses, a fancy dinner. The restaurant was in on it too. Shame they brought out the wedding-themed congratulations dessert before I actually went down on my knee. FML
Today, during dinner, my new girlfriend's father stroked my leg several times under the table with his bare foot. FML

we don't know it wasn't. they might've talked about marriage before; he'd might've gone so far as to hint. maybe not, but the possibility is there. I enjoy a sense of humor, but given the correct circumstances, this "joke" could've been cruel.

eh if there was no actual himts beforehand and nothing weird going on lately there was no reason for her to expect a proposal honestly if she can't take a joke and expected a proposal to be completely random she's either emotionally unstable (not grounded is more accurate tbh) or been watching waay too many movies all he did was make a joke..and if they WERE ready to marry each other she should've seen something like this coming from his sense of humor
