Today, at work, I was talking to a Scottish woman when my coworker and I both told her we were also Scottish. To this she replied, "We Scottish people get around." I then said, "Tell me about it, I'm one of four siblings from my dad, he definitely gets around." She was talking about travel. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
You can talk, mate
Today, a customer asked me if I was English, because I was struggling to understand what he was saying. I said yes. He then called me a liar, and said I must be "one of them Polish immigrants." Oh, and he also had a thick Scottish accent. FML
Classic
Today, at work, I casually mentioned I was meeting some friends for dinner. My co-worker's response was, "You have friends?!" FML
Today, I had to go along with my mom to meet some of her old friends from high school. When they asked her about how her life was going, she said she was married, always traveling, no kids, and introduced me as the neighbor's kid she babysits. FML
Today, at work, I was helping someone who really sounded like she had a Boston accent. So, I asked her where she was from. She has never been out of state. Turns out she has a speech impediment. FML
Today, I went to a family reunion with my brother and my mother. She spent quite a while giving a glowing introduction for my brother to one of her cousins. Then, just before walking off, she jerked a thumb in my direction and said, "Oh, yeah, and that's his sister." FML
The walls have ears
Today, while sitting at a table in a coffee shop, I overheard someone on the next table talking about their horrible boss. I joined in, complaining about mine, and going into great detail about what an arsehole he can be. Turns out, I was talking to my boss's sister. FML
Today, talking to my boyfriend about each others families, we noticed we both had an aunt with the same name. After a while of trying to figure things out, we decide to call her. Turns out that we are long distance cousins. FML
Today, while at my friend's house, I noticed her brother had a bit of an accent. I laughingly said "Is it me or does your little brother have an accent?" She stared and replied with "No, he has autism." FML
Leave us alone
Today, a customer asked me if I was my husband's sister. A little flabbergasted, I replied, "No, I'm his wife." He went on to say, "Ah! But surely, you're related? Cousins?" FML
Today, while at my boyfriend's cousin's birthday party, I was hanging around with his sister as I didn't know anyone. She was talking to some friends when one of them asked her, "So, is your brother still going out with that crazy chick?" Her answer was to introduce me. FML

I'm Scottish ;)
gracehi 33
So I assume you "get around" too. ;)
JustKittyKat 24
I'm part Scottish. Does this mean I only get around a bit?

Why do Scottish men wear kilts? Because the sheep can hear a zipper from a mile away.
gracehi 33
^ Hey, man. Don't mess with the Scottish. You tend to get real tough when you live in a country where the thistles are waist high and no one's invented trousers.
Marcella1016 32
According to OP, it means you're a filthy, filthy ***** :)
Pleonasm 36
21 where i grew up that joke was always about the welsh ;)

I am half Scottish and I would've laughed at the comment OP. No need to feel embarrised about it.

OP are you that pathetic that you would be afraid of offending them with that? its nothing, grow up.
onlychildFTW 34
I thought about travel right away. But I have an innocent mind.

Foot-in-mouth situation right here. Haha! FYL, OP. Better luck next time. :)
almighty_zer 5
what's that about a foot fetish...?
citymayer 7
Nothing. There's nothing about a foot fetish.
Pleonasm 36
If they're wearing a kilt, doesn't a foot-in mouth scenario just make the situation more embarrassing? :p

And here I thought she was being too forward.
EvilPotato 15
Oh well. Don't worry too much, it was just a joke anyways. I'm sure she doesn't hate you.

I agree with #6. But watch out for the scottish men ;) lol
Pleonasm 36
Well, if she didn't react too badly to your response, you can ask her if she wants to do some good old fashioned caber-tossing :p
Cynictowinit 4
So, of course, your gut reaction was to assume she meant in terms of sex? I would at least hope she'd get to know you guys if she had been talking about sex, otherwise it would have been pretty brusque.
citymayer 7
The phrase "get around" generally has to do with sex.
maosquare 18
Actually, it is also generally used to mean traveling.
MissMae93 23
18 - I wouldn't say generally. My first thought was traveling, not sex.
citymayer 7
I've never heard it used to describe travel. Maybe as in "what vehicle do you use to get around" once or twice but nothing else.
Celina_Lune 20
...My first thought was sex. So I can see how the Op made that assumption as well.
Elegance 7
Your response made sense with you three all being Scottish. Maybe she just couldn't attest to your theory.
