This ain't gonna end well
Today, my partner of 5 years and I sat down to talk because I expressed hope for a proposal in near future. He instead believed that we should wait, and talk about a potential future for us in another two years. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my boyfriend of 3 years announced that he is not ready for marriage, and won’t be for 'at least' another 2 years. Of course he waited to tell me this 2 days after he had proposed to me in front of hundreds of people, I said yes, and we announced it to all our family members and friends. FML
Today, I asked my boyfriend of 3 years what he thought about marriage in the future. "Who knows? We might meet other people soon." FML
Today, after 5 and a half years, my boyfriend had spent months talking about proposing before the end of the year. He'd picked out a ring, told all his friends, and couldn't stop talking about our future. He then dumped me over the phone out of the blue. FML
Today, my boyfriend of two years proposed to me. Less than two minutes later, he decided he wasn't ready for the commitment. After I had already said yes. FML
Today, I asked my girlfriend what she thought of us getting married some day. She said she wasn't sure about me yet and that we may want to go in different directions soon. We've been dating for three years and I had the ring in my pocket at the moment. FML
Today, my boyfriend declared he doesn't feel ready to move in with me for at least "some more years". We have already been together for five years. When he bought an apartment one year ago, he kept it a secret for three months. Maybe I should learn to take a hint. Or several hints. FML
Today, my boyfriend of two years told me that he sees no future with me. It's alright though, because he says we can still "coast along" until he meets someone else. FML
Today, the love of my life said, "You’d make a great husband! Whoever marries you in the future is gonna be so happy!" We’ve been together for 4 years and was planning to propose on her birthday in two weeks. FML
Today, after pouring my heart out to my girlfriend of four years through a speech that took me three weeks to write, and then proposing, she responded, "Eh, why not." FML
Today, I found out that my boyfriend was going to propose to me about three months ago. I was completely surprised and asked why he didn't. At that time, I had told him to stop looking at me like that and go buy me some damn tacos. I was 2 months pregnant then. Now he wants to wait a couple of years. FML

End it. He's stringing you along, OP. Unless you're 19, five years is more than enough time to expect to make a permanent commitment, one way or the other. I'm so sorry.

On the one hand, he is willing to talk in two years. On the other hand, this could be a HUGE sign of someone afraid of commitment. If he meets your other needs, acknowledges the relationship, maybe think on it. If there are lots of other little signs, run. Far and fast.

I don't see anything wrong with taking your time.

If he's the one why be pushy? Did he say why he wanted to wait?

Afraid of commitment, but spends five years in a committed relationship? Does not compute.

Afraid of actual legal and formal commitment, maybe? It's easy to just stay in a relationship because it's convenient.

If you are over 21 he has had ample time. If you are over 30 he is hoping to better deal you.

That’s crap.

In other words, the BF is perfectly happy with 2 more years of free milk.... It's time to dump him and move on. Good luck, OP!

If he basically set an end date (2 years) then get the **** out of this relationship. I wasted 8 of 10 years waiting for the proposal and marriage. Never again. Also- you should have him clarify 2 years as boy/girlfriends then on to fiancée? Bc for some the time starts over. Don’t know why.

I think if this goes on for three or four more year, you might start giving some preliminary thought to considering the first steps of dumping him.

You have your whole lives to get married. Surely you would much rather marry someone who is absolutely sure and be married forever than marry someone in a relatively short time and be divorced in another 5 years
