Today, I was arrested and had to spend the night in jail because I was caught stealing baby formula from Walmart. I’ve been struggling to find work ever since I gave birth a few months ago, and have been a stay-at-home mom ever since. Even my boyfriend has been struggling to find better work. FML

Today, I got a criminal record and a court date, all because I’m a single mom struggling to pay rent and feed my 3 kids, and I was desperate enough to trust a random man who told me to cash a fraudulent check. He dropped me off at the bank and ghosted me when I was being interrogated and booked by the cops. FML
Today, I was called a horrible excuse for a mother just for buying formula for my baby. I just don’t produce any milk of my own. FML
Today, while working at my local supermarket, I found a boy lost and wandering about, so I took him to the front desk. My reward from his mother was a slap around the face and harsh words for supposedly having kidnapped him. FML
Today, my week started off with cleaning up a literal dumpster fire. Since then, I’ve been falsely accused of stealing someone’s welcome mat, had my water shut off, and had to miss three days of work in order to correct my child care voucher. FML
Today, I got lost trying to find the hospital my sister was giving birth in. I stopped at a store to call my mom for directions. A cop pulled up beside me and knocked loudly on my window asking me to get out. The store had been robbed and I am now a suspect. FML
Today, I found out my babysitter has been selling the breastmilk I produce for my baby and replacing it with formula, while still taking my money every week. FML
Today, my financial situation is so dire that I tried to steal toilet paper from work. I got caught. FML
Today, I got fired for not being mature enough. I just found out I’m pregnant. FML
Today, after I felt bad for living off food stamps and government assistance so I could be home with my kids after their dad died, I decided to go to school and get a career to support them. Now that I’m working, I feel bad for not having much time to spend with them. I can’t win. FML
Today, I got fired during my maternity leave for requesting my unpaid wages. FML

That’s awful to hear. Is there not a food bank or program for low income new mothers around that may be able to help with some of what you need? I’d suggest looking online to see if there are any programs in your area. Hospitals, church groups, community organizations, etc sometimes will have outreach for struggling mothers. Good luck OP. I hope things turn around.

I feel like some people don't know that if you see somebody stealing a vital necessity, no, you don't. I'm sorry you're struggling. I know there aren't enough resources out there, but check out 211 on your area and try to get as many as you can.

We have the WIC program for this. Or surely you have friends and family that could buy you some baby formula for your newborn and you could pay them back later? You're lucky you only had to spend the night in jail - many places charge thousands of dollars if you're caught shoplifting, and if your financial situation is this severe, you'd be royally screwed.
