Today, I received a promotional message offering a half-off deal on an expensive coffee maker. The only reason why I received the message is because I bought that same coffee maker yesterday and I signed up to their mailing list. FML

Today, I won a free year's supply of coffee in a contest. Turns out "a year's supply" meant 12 coupons for small coffees, one per month. The giant ceremonial check they gave me was worth more than the prize. I hope the publicity they got out of me was worth it. FML
Today, I couldn’t figure out why I was getting so much spam in my professional email. My own mother thought it would be a hilarious “prank” to sign me up for a ton of random mailing lists. I missed an amazing job opportunity due to her bullshit. FML
Today, I finally got a product I ordered two weeks ago as a free trial-only pay shipping deal. Also today, the same company took an extra $130 out of my account without authorisation. Best part: when I called to sort things out, they told me they had no record of my order details. FML
Today, I realized that every targeted advertisement on my Facebook involves gym memberships and diet pills. FML
Today, I got denied a refund for my dream coffee machine. I've overdrafted my bank account to buy it on Offer Up for an excellent price, but USPS delivered the package to a wrong address. Someone got it for free. Offer Up won't refund me because it says "delivered" on the tracking page. FML
Today, on the advice of a girl from sales, I sent a company-wide email with the subject line, "FOR SALE - 2010 Toyota Camry." I realized the social faux pas a minute later when my department head replied-to-all, "FOR SALE - half eaten sandwich." Now everyone thinks I’m a dumbass for confusing company emails for Craigslist, and for believing anyone who works in sales. FML
Today, I got an e-mail from a company saying that I would not be a good fit for them. Strangely, it's quite similar to an e-mail they sent me last month. And the month before. They aren't generated e-mails, each one is different. They just e-mail me every month to remind me that I suck. FML
Today, I discovered my ex has been signing my email up for various newsletters. I knew I was getting a lot of spam, but didn't know why. It became apparent when one of these emails had his name in it. FML
Today, I found out that the automatic message on the bottom of my email that I use for work is the signature, and can be changed, but for the past year I've used it, it's been an 'Get Outlook for Android' ad link the entire time. FML

Or if they won't let you return it because it's used/out the box: then buy a new one at half price, then return it (unopened) with your first full-price receipt :)

1) The FML doesn't say she paid full price for it (although it does imply it. Don't assume things. 2) most of those mail outs are free to sign up, so OP could have asked preemptively of there were any deals she could apply to her coffee maker before purchasing it. 3) if they didn't know at the time at the counter, she could have tried to get up and return it next day if she really cared, and thus ended her FML with something like "and they wouldn't let me return it the next day and use the discount" Hope I didn't hurt your brain. That would have been a true FML. In America return policies are incorporated into just about everything so they couldn't have stopped her from returning it.

Sorry, the programmer in me is annoyed by the unclosed bracket. Yes, OP could now return it and then buy it again, but sometimes you cannot get into certain mailing lists without registering your product first. Some places don't even let you return it if you've already registered the product, too.
