I get them too. My wife bruises easily, and I have swung many times in my sleep. Then again, she has them too and I’ve endured her violent flailing. I either try to calmly wake her, or failing that, go sleep on the couch for mine or her safely. Good thing she hasn’t had them in a couple years. Stress brought on her ptsd nightmares. Mines happens randomly these days with no known trigger.

That sucks. I have night terrors/nightmares on a nightly basis and it's definitely not the funnest experience around.

Why’d she break it off, instead of just sleeping someplace else?

You deserve so much better than someone who can’t accept all of you. And you just made room in your life for that person to love and stand by you

Ptsd is not fun, nor the night terrors. A couple of days ago I had an interesting dream, about myself, my mother and a past coworker whom I had pushed away years and years ago. In this dream I was still annoyed at this past coworker, but life was normal. It was waking up and spending the next day or so realizing I have been living in complete agony that made the dream sad. I didn't miss my past coworker, I missed not being in pain. With ptsd, you don't know how to express your feelings, and usually get told they aren't valid, and just deal with it. You try to stay calm so you dont over react, the last thing you want to do is harm loved ones and push them away. You become paranoid that everything you say is wrong. Truthfully though, I have completed 99% of my mission in life and never expected to get this far, it's just unlocking that last percent, I never realized it would be so difficult and painful. I'm sure it's best that I didnt though, or else I may have never tried. My true family and friends know that I love intensely, and I strive everyday to be a better version of myself for them. The paranoia from ptsd sometimes gets in the way. It's a tough cruel world, but if you find something worth fighting for, it makes it all worthwhile.

Good riddance to her. My girlfriend has night terrors when she's stressed or very worried about something, she can wake up and sit straight up and scream, or shout a few times a night. She sometimes sleepwalks but I always know how to calm her down.
