Scammers gonna scam
Today, my friend went to jail after shoplifting over 2000$ worth of Apple Pay cards for her online boyfriend. We have all told her it's a scam and she is facing five years in prison. She won't listen to anyone and won't believe he's a con artist. FML

It really does. Unless, of course, she was actually working in the shop and loaded them up from the tills... That would get a decent sentence, especially if the shop went after her with good solicitors. But as it's written, it reeks of bullshit.

you can't shoplift apple pay cards. they're worthless until you actually pay to have them activated. also she would only be facing 2 years for $2000 and unless she has a lot of priors, she would most likely just get probation. this sounds like BS.

Some people, even friends or relatives are idiots and too dumb to be helped by all the good advice in the world. In that case all you can do is take a big step back and let them face the consequences of their actions and hope they learn from it.
