Today, it was my first time as a hockey referee, for a game played by 7-year-olds. At one point, a little boy tripped another boy. Doing my job, I gave him 2 minutes in the penalty box. After the game, I was attacked by a mob of parents. I was even given an optometrist's business card. FML

Today, while refereeing a soccer game, I was accused of being racist, blind, and a fascist by spectators. The game was played by a group of third graders. FML
Today, I had my first game ever as an ice hockey goalie. Our team didn't have a goalie helmet, so they gave me a regular one which didn't cover me completely. I was worried about it and told my coach, but he said I would be fine. I then took a puck to the throat that sent me to hospital. FML
Today, I took my father to a hockey game. He always has to get pictures with the girls, so while in bag check, he used his breath spray. He got me in the eye, and I was temporarily blinded through most of the first period. FML
Today, I was at a professional hockey game. I wasn't paying attention and a puck was shot into the stands and hit me in the face. My mouth was bleeding and I lost two teeth. As I was trying to cough up my teeth the old man next to me shoved me over and stole the puck. Everyone cheered. FML
Today, I was refereeing a kid's soccer game, and noticed that on the field next to me was a referee I hated working with. I told the other referee I was working with that he was the laziest and most dumbass referee I had ever worked with. She then slapped me, and told me that it was her grandpa. FML
Today, I went to a hockey game. While warm-ups were happening, my favourite player pointed at me and tossed me a puck. It bounced off my hand into another girl's, who was a fan of the other team. She refused to give it back, then walked away and said, "I can't wait to sell this on eBay." FML
Today, I went to my job as an aide for first-grade students. I went home with a swollen face after my student punched me because I was, "making the timer go too fast" and he wanted more iPad time. FML
Today, during our championship field hockey game, my mouthguard fell into a mass of geese poop. The referee made me put it back in my mouth. FML
Today, playing soccer, I jumped up to make a header and clear the ball away from our goal. I got the ball but some guy kicked me in the face. I was taken off. All the parents were horrified, saying how badly my nose must have broken. Turns out my nose was fine. That's just how my nose looks. FML
Today, I had a soccer game. A player from the other team hit me in the face. In the next half, she was the goalie and I was determined to score on her. When I finally got my chance to, everyone cheered, until I kicked the ball into the goal post and it bounced back and hit me in the face. FML

Ahhhh A troll's dream job!!! Have fun with that! Enjoy having the power!! Call 'em like you see 'em (but don't go crazy, have fun being an honest referee and laugh at the parents that would have you do otherwise!)

I'll vouch for that. Sometimes, some youth teams from New Jersey (mainly South Jersey in the Philly area) come to play at the rink I go to in Harrisburg, PA, and those parents are THE WORST!!!

Make a rule that if the parents get out of control, their team forfeits. Of course that wont help you "after" the game. Be prepared to quickly change into track shoes and park your car close to the field. Cover your "#1ref" license plate.

Give them a little hint that you might in fact need spectacles, but that don't have the funds to acquire a pair. Oh, and that the judging system they haven't taken too well to will continue till then. Just remember not to let them get any form of evidence.

Really ? If ur refereeing 7 year old all you do is make sure they don't get hurt, the kid probly didn't know about tripping, at that age hockey's just for fun so you literally do nothing all game. The parents hated you cz you looked like a dick

I'm pretty sure any kid knows that its not fair to trip someone during a game or otherwise. They're not that stupid.

People should respect the refs! Seriously, without them the game couldn't be played properly. Chill people it's supposed to be a fun game :)
