Today, my mother finally had her beloved Siamese cat cremated. The cat has been dead for over a week and she has been keeping it on her bed, stroking its fur and saying, "She looks like she's sleeping" and "She's so cold." To top it all off, she's been calling me by the cat's name for three years. FML

Today, I received an unexpected package from my mother. It contained my cat's ashes. Apparently he died 3 weeks ago and she thought this was the best way to tell me. FML
Today, my husband's cat died. He has resorted to calling me by her name to comfort himself. FML
Today, was my birthday. Today was also the day that my mom's cat died four years ago. She was too busy crying and looking at old photos of her beloved cat to even wish me a happy birthday. FML
Today, my mom called me an attention seeker and threw a bitch fit because my cat "decided" to die on her birthday. FML
Today, I was sent a letter by the vet, saying my cat was late for her yearly checkup. My cat died last week and I'd had her cremated by the same people who had sent the letter. FML
Today, my 21-year-old cat, who has learned when I go to bed and waits in my bedroom for me every night, was waiting for me as usual last night. She got on top of me and I fell asleep pretty fast. When I woke up, she was still there, so I decided to wait until she moved. It took me an hour to realize she'd died. FML
Today, I've been trying to adopt a cat with little success since my last one died. My other cat, who had grown attached to him when she realized he was dying, has been lazier and more prone to seeking attention than before since he passed away. I now know cats can suffer from depression. I feel bad now. FML
Today, my mom decided to only speak to me through our pet cat. FML
Today, I got my cat stuffed after her death. I brought her home and set her down by my couch. I guess my dog thought it was a new chew toy. FML
Today, my mom asked me to pull out the load of laundry she'd stuck in the dryer. Instead of clothes, I pulled out my dead cat. FML

I have worked at the spca and you can be surprised by what the elderly people do and those with hording mental issues can do. The very worst of it, these people become attached to the animal and cannot accept its death. Some people freeze the animal for prolong period of time, as well. This isn't nothing new, and yeah, I agree perhaps you should let your mother move in with you that way she'll have someone to be with and not become attached to these animals. Also, you could get a new cat, and usually that helps.

so my mom totally kept our dog in a freezer. when it died, bc i went to college. i find it very creepy. also the whole name thing, my mom calls me the cats name all the time. i totally understand where u are coming from. parents are extremely weird when it comes to pets. i think your mom might be a little more weird, bc its a cat, and u know cat ppl are a little out there.
