Today, I met the old couple I would be house-sitting for. As I was leaving the lady stuck her fist out towards me. After a seconds awkward pause I thought she wanted to fist-bump so stuck mine out and bumped. Turned out she was handing me the key. FML

Today, I fistbumped a cashier as they tried to hand me my change. FML
Today, after paying at the gas station, the cashier stuck out her hand, which was clenched into a fist. I thought she wanted a fist-bump, so I gave her one. She just stared back at me. Turns out she was just trying to give me my change. FML
Today, I tried to give my friend a fist bump. He thought I was trying to punch him so he punched me in the face. FML
Today, I had a guest at my house. I stood up to shake her hand and kiss her on both cheeks, which is common in my culture. When she was kissing my cheeks, I went the opposite way from her and I ended up kissing her on the lips instead. Her eyes went big and I ran away. FML
Today, I was walking down the hallway at work when I saw a coworker I hadn't talked to in a while. I went for a high-five as a friendly greeting, but she didn’t see me coming and instead awkwardly grabbed my hand like she was about to hold it. We both froze for a second, and then awkwardly sighed and practically ran away. FML
Today, I held a door open for a sweet old lady with a walker. After she went through the door, she turned and said, "That's not how you're gonna get into my pants, son." FML
Today, I asked my girlfriend for a kiss, and in response, she suggested that we settle for a hand hug. FML
Today, I went to meet a friend for coffee. When I arrived, I mistakenly thought it was a casual meet-up, but apparently, it was a date. I didn’t realize this until she leaned in for a kiss at the end, and I awkwardly offered her a fist bump instead. FML
Today, I went in for an interview with a firm where I'd done some interning before. After shaking hands with both the directors, I went to shake hands with one of the director's wives, who also works there. Turns out she was going for a hug and kiss on the cheek. I ended up kissing her on the lips. FML
Today, I saw my ex and his new girlfriend walking towards me. To make things less awkward, I tried to be cool and give him a high five. He misjudged and went for a fist bump. I ended up slapping his hand, and it felt like it lasted forever, all while she just smirked at me. FML

My therapist once had his arms spread like he wanted a hug and even though I was super uncomfortable with the idea, I hugged him anyway. Turns out he was just gesturing to the office door with one arm and inviting me to leave with the other. It was terrible and awkward and the worst.

If it makes you feel better, once during graduation practice as I was walking off the stage, my teacher held out his closed fist and naturally I fist bumped it. He gave me a weird look and told me "I was pretending to hold out your diploma. Please don't fist bump me during the ceremony." Since I was on the stage it was in full view of many of my classmates who found the whole exchange quite amusing. My embarrassment was brought up multiple times during graduation. Moral of the story: we all do embarrassing things, don't sweat it OP

Not that bad OP. One time I was on the subway and someone waved at the person sitting next to me. Automatically, I waved back without thinking and they gave me the weirdest looks. I just owned it and winked at them.

One time there was an SUV coming down the road with a little kid waving his arm out the window at everyone. Naturally, I waved back... just as I saw that it was actually a 2x4 with some plastic wrap stuck to the end of it.

she was definitely waiting on the fist bump so I did the right thing... as long as u exploded it after
