Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I gave birth to our first child at home. What was supposed to be a beautiful moment of us peacefully greeting our newborn, ended up with the cops knocking on our door. Apparently me giving birth sounds like a domestic dispute. FML
Today, my wife opted for a home birth with a nurse and her mother. Her mother is such a baby-feral, men-are-bastards, hippie feminist dragon that not only did she yell at me when I tried to be in the room, she has now pushed me out of the house. I ended up sat in my car with only one shoe and no phone. FML
Today, the family upstairs decided to play basketball. Indoors. At 3am. FML
Today, I was trying to get a good night's sleep before the huge exam tomorrow, which I'm extremely anxious about. The SAME night my neighbor below me is having a home birth. It lasted NINE HOURS. FML
Today, I found out that there's a very loud and frisky couple living above my bedroom, and a family with a crying baby living above my living room. At this rate, I'll end up sleeping in the bathtub in my own home. FML
Today, I gave birth to a baby girl. Where was my husband after the agony finally ended? Standing just outside the room, flirting with a nurse. FML
Today, I met my new upstairs neighbors. They have a four-month-old child and appear to be firm believers in the "let them cry it out" philosophy. The baby's room is right above mine. A few days of trying to sleep through this shit and I'll look like a Walking Dead extra. FML
Today, I gave birth, but my husband was late and got here just in time to cut the cord. He was hung over after celebrating his impending fatherhood all night. He missed the cord twice, cut it, then fell over, and wound up in the bed next to mine, with a hydrating IV and a bashed head where he hit it on the baby's cot. FML
Today, my sister came to stay with me in my apartment for the last few weeks of her difficult pregnancy. However she didn't tell me she was bringing her two dogs, her jackass of a husband, my bratty nephew, and an inflatable kiddie pool so she could have a natural water birth in my living room. FML
Today, I met my new upstairs neighbors and their 4 kids all under the age of 6. I met them due to all the thudding coming from upstairs. FML
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?

how dare your neighbor conduct her life in her own home. doesn't she know that her use and enjoyment of the home she lives in is interfering with your ignorant comfort?!? fyl for sure!

I don't see the bad in this. I think I would be thrilled if my neighbors (or anyone I knew) decided to welcome a new life into this world on their terms without any pressure or medical intervention.

By the way he referred to them as "the couple downstairs" and not his friends downstairs, he probably doesn't know them. Personally I wouldn't be ecstatic to have to hear from my living quarters a random woman give birth. It may have been a big day for her, but not for the 4 apartments surrounding her. FYL for tonight OP.

So what, It's their child. They can choose to have birth at home if they want. Don't like the noise? leave the apartment or drown it out with music.

LMAO. If you can't spell simple words correctly, you probably shouldn't be calling other people stupid.

Putting the unsanitary part aside from birthing in a probably unsterile place... they really ought to have given you some warning, I totally would have called a cop thinking there was some sort of emergency.

You are much more likely to catch something in hospital than at home. Hospital is full of ill people and the bugs you have at home are those your immune system is used to dealing with. In any case you use new, clean coverings on everything (unless you like amniotic fluid in your carpet) so you are in a very clean area giving birth at home.
