Next step
Today, after my son graduated from nursing school which I, as a single parent, paid for with blood, sweat, and tears, during his grad party he was asked what his next step was. His response was, "Eh, I kinda realized I hate nursing." FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my fiance lost his shit when I told him that I’ve decided to go to nursing school. He claims that all nurses are cheating whores and that if I become one we’re through. His source? The troglodytes that thrive in the bowels of the internet. All because one guy got his heart broken by a nurse. FML
Today, my son's teacher asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He put down "unemployed". FML
Today, I realized that even though I was an honor student throughout school, and considered the golden child who was going to go far in life, all I've accomplished a year after graduation is becoming an unemployed single mother still living with my parents. FML
Today, after switching careers to nursing, I got feedback for my first assessment. It indirectly implied, "Don't think like a doctor when you're studying nursing, don't diagnose patients." I barely passed and I'm only now realizing why my family was pushing me to go to med school. They know me better than myself. FML
Today, I had no choice but to bring my son to work as a med school professor. I sat him in a chair in a corner while I gave a lecture. To my surprise, he added another word to his limited vocabulary, and screamed it out loud with an ecstatic expression on his face. The word is "cancer". FML
Today, I was sent to an elementary school for safety day. One of the dads was asking about my job, when I told him about the long hours and high stress involved. He turned to his son and said, "Now see why you stay in school?" I'm a paramedic. With a bachelor's degree. FML
Today, I realized I freaking hate my career. I've only got through a semester, but I feel like I can't end the four years it takes. FML
Today, I realized my marriage is over. I was in labor with our first child and my husband acted like being there with me in the hospital was a chore. However, he saw a young nurse and his mood did a 180. He left soon before I gave birth because he “got hungry.” All of this and he STILL has no clue why I’m upset with him. FML
Today, my husband declined a $100k/year job due to him thinking that a full-time job at one work place would be too "depressing." I'm a nurse and have to wipe other people's arses for a living, then come home to this lazy dick. FML
Today, I've hated being a parent ever since I was baby-trapped at 17, but I stuck through it and never let my son suspect how I really felt, and we have a great relationship now he’s an adult. Well he just moved out yesterday, and today my wife told me she’s pregnant. Here we fucking go again. FML

At least he finished. I'm a nurse and knew a few who quit half way through. He's always got it if he changed his mind later.

He should have known at least half way through is courses that he didn't want to be a nurse.

Congratulations.

At least he can use his nursing degree as a stepping stone to something else - nurse practitioner, certified registered nurse anesthetist, ****... The possibilities are endless!

Good thing Gaylord Focker dropped out now, male nurses are gay! Hi-five on saving his rep before it was too late!

Wow. Judging from the comments here, I can see why he'd hate it. Maybe it's not the job itself and the stigma associated with male nurses. How many "murse" comments can one put up with before they get sick of it?

There are some outstanding nurses who are always willing to help, and some obnoxious nurses who seem to drag through their job because they have to. I can't recall a single male nurse who was the latter. For the record, the male nurses I see and work with are some of the best.

Maybe he didn't want to tell you and disappoint you while he was doing the course.

He doesn't have to do traditional hospital nursing. That's the nice thing about being a nurse. He could be a school nurse, an army nurse, a prison nurse, be one of those people who gives out shots at Walmart, ect. But if he hates it he hates it. :C

"Well son, here's the bill for your tuition and all related expenses. We can work out a re-payment schedule, to which I am going to hold you accountable. I certainly hope that McDonald's pays enough for you to repay me." DON'T HESITATE - MAKE THE PRICK PAY YOU BACK!

I truly hope your son is kidding about "kinda" hating nursing. I used to volunteer in a small-town hospital ER and I've seen first-hand how much shit nurses have to deal with: Long-ass shifts, difficult and ungrateful patients/family, and overbearing administration. Nurses have to love what they're doing because they get paid crap. Tl;dr this is a major FYL and I empathize with you.
