Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, while I was explaining my troubles to my therapist, he asked me, "And don't you have someone you can tell all that?" FML
Today, I found out that my dad has a therapist. That's cool. What's cooler is that she's a very nice lady, and even said to ME that I could talk too if I wanted to. Boy, do I want to. But if I did, then she would probably need a therapist herself, and the last thing my dad needs is his therapist needing a therapist. FML
Today, my father started nagging me about my husband's mental health. He doesn't understand why my husband can't just walk it off. FML
Today, after finally seeing a psychologist about the death of my dad and spending the longest hour of my life confessing every thought I've experienced in the 6 years since his passing, my psychologist asked me if I was walking home or if my dad would be picking me up. FML
Today, my dad stood by and nodded in agreement as my sister told me that my clinical depression is "getting REALLY old." FML
Today, my dad told me that people requiring psychiatric treatment are just weak and pathetic, and what they really need is a kick up the ass and to get a fucking grip. He told me this not 30 seconds after my doctor recommended I spend some time in a facility for my severe depression. FML
Today, my dad told me that I'm a weak and negative person because I suffer from depression and anxiety, then he told me to just snap out of it. FML
Today, I found out my dad goes to therapy. Confused, I asked him what was going on. He said, "You" without any hesitation. I don't know if he's joking or not. If he is, I don't find that very funny. If he's not, I don't even know what I've done. FML
Today, I told my parents about my life problems, after they forced me to open up. Now they want to send me to a psychiatrist. Don't trust anyone. FML
Today, I came home to find my dad drinking. Trying to be cheerful, I greeted him with a "Hi, dad!" He sighed, shook his head, and said "It hurts me when you call me that." FML

Then why is he a psychologist? Wow, maybe he shouldn't be complaining if he studied to be one.

I interpreted it as him being tongue-in-cheek.

My parents want me to be a psychologist...maybe I should reconsider actually going through with it. I have never been good at helping people anyways.

You forgot to write FML at the end of your comment... Also, you submitted it in the wrong area, we can't mod it now.

It's ok, no one would have read it anyway...

Methinks FML submissions should try to use easier words in the future. "Psychologist" seems to be too difficult for some people.

**** your dads life or his patients. This doesn't really matter for you.

I think your dad is doing a great thing. He deals with people who no one else gives a shit about. I would be complaining a LOT more than him because like most people I wouldn't be able to take it. Something made these people this way and I admire anyone who cares enough to help

Most, if not all people, will complain about their jobs at one point or another. So it's okay if he wants to complain about it, i bet it's hard trying to help people solve their issues.

I agree it can be frustrating. when I was looking into entering the psychology field I had one psychologist tell me you'll always have patients who refuse to help themselves, but expect you to fix matters, which you can't.

tell him it's not your job to listen to his problems

Yeah! Why should children support their parents or be respectful!?
