Man vs Boy
Today, it was my first day at a new gym, which cost a fortune. Some skinny teen who had clearly never lifted in his life dropped a weight while I was stretching and broke my ankle. Money down the drain. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I went to the gym for the first time in months. Feeling pumped, I grabbed what I thought was a light dumbbell. It wasn’t. I dropped it on my toe and screamed so loud that the gym bros around me stopped mid-workout to stare at me. FML
Today, I went to my gym and tried a new workout machine that had just been installed. I set the weight too high and ended up stuck halfway through a lift, making weird struggling noises. Most people around me stopped and stared as I awkwardly dropped the weights. FML
Today, I went to the gym. I tried out a new machine where you do one-arm weightlifting. I took my time to get into a good position, then set the machine to the lowest weight possible. I couldn't even lift it an inch. A bunch of buff guys nearby saw me and burst out laughing. FML
Today, I was at the gym, feeling pretty proud of myself for working out consistently for the past month. As I was about to grab a towel, I tripped and landed face-first into a pile of gym mats. People turned to look, and all I could do was try to laugh it off through the pain of what turned out to be a sprained ankle. FML
Today, I went to the gym for the first time in months. As I tried to bench press, my arms gave out instantly, and I ended up dropping the bar onto my chest. The dudes in the gym around me gave me the wide-eyed WTF face, while I tried to laugh it off and failed. FML
Today, after spending two hard months losing 20 pounds of my 80 pound goal, I was actually excited to exercise. After I was done exercising, I fell down the stairs and broke my ankle. FML
Today, I went to the gym for the first time in months and tried to act like I belonged there. I used the wrong machine, adjusted something I shouldn’t have, and had to ask a teenager how to reset it. FML
Today, I went to the gym for the first time in months. I was so out of shape that I couldn't even finish my warm-up. FML
Today, I tried a new workout at my local gym. I thought I'd attempt some yoga poses I'd seen online. Mid-pose, I lost my balance and knocked over a row of weights, causing a loud crash and drawing everyone's attention. FML
Today, I went to the gym for the first time in months and couldn't figure out how to use any of the equipment. FML

Shouldn't they be responsible & pay for either your medical and/or gym fees? Hope you get better soon & your money isn't wasted.

Read the terms and conditions of your contract. not sure where you live, but you may be able to back out if you submit a notice within 3 business days of signing. Othewise, there may also be a clause allowing you to cancel early due to disability if you have a doctor's note.

If not, the contract might state it can keep a hold on the membership fees for a certain period of time. I have been a member at a few different gyms before and two of them had that condition. I hope that applies to your gym, OP, though the two gyms that have that condition are not a chain.

Did you buy an 8-week membership? In a few months, you should be ok, buttercup.

Yeah...no. Some kid breaks your ankle, his parents are on the hook for your expenses- which mens medical, as well as any work you had to miss for treatment and any services you pre-paid for and now can't use. And since it's a membership gym, they know exactly who that kid is. On the other hand, if your gym isn't willing to negotiate on the gym fees you paid but can't use since you got hurt IN THEIR GYM, i'd look for somewhere else to work out

in my gym, if you brought a doctor's note saying that you couldn't attend the gym, they'd suspend the membership until you were better.
