Today, my dad and I finally found something we have in common, after 12 years of barely talking with each other. We're both extremely suicidally depressed and we were both molested as kids. FML

Today, I learned from my dad that I'm astoundingly similar to my uncle, whom I never met. It was pretty cool to learn more about him, until my dad he told me that the reason he died so young is because he committed suicide. I've been suffering from severe depression since I was fourteen. Foreshadowing? I hope not. FML
Today, I saw my father for the first time in two years. He felt compelled to tell me about how he got involved with a BDSM group and got an STD because of it. FML
Today, I found out that my dad has a therapist. That's cool. What's cooler is that she's a very nice lady, and even said to ME that I could talk too if I wanted to. Boy, do I want to. But if I did, then she would probably need a therapist herself, and the last thing my dad needs is his therapist needing a therapist. FML
Today, I finished reading a book about the treatment of mental patients and decided to use some of the strategies on my dad. We've never gotten along better. FML
Today, I found out that the creepy weirdo who's been sending me messages for a while is just my dad. His excuse was, "I wanted you to feel like someone would actually like you." FML
Today, I found out my dad is dating my dead mom's best friend. FML
Today, I met my soon-to-be step mother. My dad was right, we had a lot in common. Including our birth year. FML
Today, my dad stood by and nodded in agreement as my sister told me that my clinical depression is "getting REALLY old." FML
Today, I found out how my parents met. They met at a mental hospital, where they were both being hospitalized. FML
Today, I found out that the only reason I'm alive is because my dad beat the living shit out of my mom to stop her getting an abortion. FML

I feel sorry for both of you. Maybe reconnecting and doing talk therapy can be beneficial for you two. I also hope the people that molested you both face justice.

Hug for you both, you are both strong. Hope you are able to seek counseling and surround yourself people you can surround yourselves with to help be strong for you. God bless you
