Today, I finished and turned in the last of the 17 major projects for the company I work for. As I was walking out of my boss's office, I heard her ask her assistant, "She finished everything we didn't want to do, can we fire her now?" FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my boss made sure to do one last thing before he retired. Fire me. FML
Today, I was fired from my job. My boss turned to everyone and said, "Allow me to escort this trash out of the office." Everyone cheered. FML
Today, my boss dropped a highly important and dense report on my desk that had to be finished by the end of the day. After the initial panic attack and hours of scrupulous work, I finished. She then asked me to pick up the revised copy, where my name was replaced with hers. FML
Today, I finished my last day of job training. At the beginning, the boss had told us to ask as many questions as possible. I was fired because I asked too many questions. FML
Today, I told my boss I'm going to quit, after months of being abused, doing meaningless work, and working late every day. I was soon given so many new projects that I didn't even have time to write my resignation letter. FML
Today, my boss finally pronounced my name correctly. My name was then followed by the words, "You're fired." FML
Today, the CEO of my company wanted to meet with me. I was excited until I found out she just wanted to bitch me out and personally fire me. Later on, I found out my boss had totally shafted me and blamed the failure of a big project on me instead of admitting it was all his fault. FML
Today, my boss made me give a presentation to several senior company officials about the serious financial losses our division has made this year. Barely an hour later, my boss had palmed all the blame off onto me and gotten me fired. FML
Today, my boss called me over to his office; he wanted me to fire four hardworking employees. One of them was the girl I was going to ask out. FML
Today, after spending months building my boss 3 websites and finishing them, I was fired via a short email, saying she didn't need my help anymore. I only worked for her for 3 months, so basically I stopped being useful when I finished her websites. FML

wow time to look for a new job. It sucks when employers use you that way.

There must be a reason she dislikes you so much... Do you complain about work to the public? You did post an FML about work. I'd hate you, too.
dudeitsdanny 10
Or butting into other people's business and criticizing their actions and thoughts. Not all journalists complain.

not sure trolling is ban-able. cause your last statement was blunt and without proof...so I'm assuming, troll.

@justalilrandom: I'm not sure how he's going to moderate and ban you, given he isn't a moderator... So calm yourself down, everyone, and yes, the reply button is for replying to a comment, not for getting yours to the top of the page.

That wasn't so clear, but alright then. On a general note to whoever made the trolling accusation, please next time don't make such accusations; that's our job, but you can always private message me or another moderator about such things if you wish.

you can always sue. it's your right as an American.
Ranimal 12
Sue everybody! It's pathetic that lawsuits have become the first thing to come up when a problem arises.

I think it's awesome. SHOW ME THE MON-AAAAYYY!!!
tyoyomi 1
actually op can't sue because she works for the company and if she did sue the most she would be able to argue is wrongful firing

Get used to it. People will take advantage of you throughout your whole life, and not everyone will like you. Your boss doesn't have to 'be fair.'

doesnt mean you gotta put up with that shit

No one said that.

Make it a learning experience. Next time, try to get a contract for friable offenses or something, and a list of crap like this you're safe from. And you might not get fired, you never know. :P

Great. "Today, my former company won a judgement against me for damages when my sabotaged powerpoint presentation cost them a contract. Now, not only am I unemployed, I owe them more than I made the entire time I actually worked for them. FML"

I'd say YDI for not checking the work of someone you used to do it then fired straight away, sort of had it coming really.

Wow, your boss is an awful woman. I'd resign and start looking for a job now if I were you, so you don't have to answer a bunch of questions about why you were fired when you interview for your next job.
epyk_pryncess 8
idk if it's the same in all states, but a potential employer can only obtain information regarding dates worked, basically verify previous employment. if the potential employer does ask if they were fired or why, and the previous employer gives that info... it's illegal. besides, how dumb would they sound? "oh, they were terminated because she did all the work we were supposed to, and didnt want to do. plus, we just didn't like her." so **** them over and quit op.
BoCo_fml 9
You are correct that employers can only divulge certain info, but some of the info is if the person is re-hirable or not. As a manager we have code to use with each other. We'll say something to the affect, "Yes these dates are correct. Do you have anyone else in mind?" That pretty much says to the new potential employer, hire the other candidate.
cwl727 33
But than they would want to know why you quit.

That really sucks.
