Judge Judy
Today, my teenage daughter came out into the living room and began belting out a song. When I cleared my throat, she screamed, turned beet red, and said, “I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE!” She’d been hiding all day, and to say I'm judging her would be an understatement. FML

She should feel free enough in what is her home too, to express herself, have fun and sing out loud. unless the song was completely inappropriate, I would not be concerned. In fact, encourage it. is it an indicator of your relationship with her that she cannot be herself? Will she be afraid to approach you with serious and / or life altering discussions due to not feeling free enough to express who she is? Something for you to consider.

She's hiding because she knows you're judging her. YDI. Also, calling her a "weirdo" in your nickname solidifies you're not cut out to be a mother. I would say I hope she goes no contact from you when she's of age but you'd probably be overjoyed if that happened.

Encourage her to go on American Idol. We could use another William Hung right about now.

No wonder she hides in her room all the time. You openly acknowledge that you're judging your daughter for NOTHING. Belting out a song isn't embarrassing, but you've obviously made her feel like it is while she was growing up or she'd have reacted differently. You suck.

I would take it as a bad sign for your relationship with her that she acts like a cat when there's a stranger in the house. If I felt my mom was judging me I wouldn't want to spend any time with her.
