Today, I found out via Facebook that my once-favourite aunt has fully bought into the QAnon bullshit about the "stolen" US election, bible quotes and all. We live in the UK. FML

Today, I finally got to see my favorite aunt after months of her living far away with her new boyfriend. She now believes the Earth is flat, gravity is fake, the government is run by reptiles, and that vaccines are the devil themselves. She won't stop trying to convince me of her conspiracies. FML
Today, my sister asked me if "the worst comes to the worst" she could come and live with me here in the UK. She's in the US, and due to all the shit that's going on over there, her health insurance and job security are on the line. Weirdly, all her "yeehaw MAGA" posts have disappeared from her socials. I wonder why… FML
Today, I found out that my mother-in-law thinks that Trump is the "best man to walk the earth since Jesus," and that he's "fighting the deep state who's in control of the fake news." She tried to indoctrinate me. FML
Today, I introduced my two crazy friends who are both into QAnon to each other. It went so poorly that now they fight online over who has better facts, and they both complain to me about the other. FML
Today, I found out my 36 year-old wife has been cyberstalking an 18 year old-girl for a week. Why? Because the girl doesn’t believe in QAnon. I found out when my wife’s online business started getting backlash. FML
Today, my aunt told me that I'm dead to her now and not to visit them ever again. Why? She found out that I'm pro-choice. FML
Today, I discovered that my Dad's family very much supports Donald Trump. They tried to convince me to support his campaign by donating money. We're not even American. FML
Today, I was uninvited to our usual family Thanksgiving, as well as the rest of the holidays with my extended family. Why? They found out who I voted for. I won't say who, but according to my aunt, I'm to blame for putting their son's healthcare at risk. WTF? FML
Today, I lost a second friend to QAnon conspiracy theories. Worst yet, he started messaging everyone I know on Facebook, telling them I'm a hypocrite who doesn’t “do his research.” Those who don’t now think he was my gay lover believe we were lab partners. What do I do with that? FML
Today, my aunt sent me a Facebook post about how Halloween will fall on Friday the 13th for the first time in 666 years. She wasn’t making a joke, she sincerely believed that it was true. I’m starting to think she’s genuinely intellectually disabled. FML

Your being British begs the question, what do the results of a US election have to do with y'all? I don't mean that in a rude way. I mean that in a way to express my understanding of it being an FML moment. I'd love an opportunity to chat with you, just to find out what British news sources have shared with the people...you know, get an outside perspective..

The US election is one of the most important events in the world. The US president influences governments across the globe. As a religious Jew, I wasn't particularly enamoured with Trump, but Biden will be an absolute disaster. He's already talking about getting into bed with the Iranians. Iran is 3-6 months away from having a nuclear weapon and despite what Obama would have you believe. they've been working on or for years, according to the IAEA. So, nuclear war in the Middle East with Iran, Syria & Turkey against Israel, UAE, Bahrain & Saudi Arabia. Great! Let's not forget that Biden doesn't even know what day it is. He has early stage dementia and will be removed from office within 6 months.

I totally agree with that. My thought was that our collective stupidity is relatively inconsequential to the rest of the world. At least it is for every day life..

I'm having to slowly cut off my family. My mom is chinese american and grew up being called the N word and getting kicked out of public spaces in the 60's-70's. Her rational for buying into this crap is, "your generation is too sensitive, learn to deal with it." ....that's absolutely not what we want our son's growing up hearing...
