death bed·This FML is from back in 2013 but it's good stuff·Schaumburg, United States
Freaky
Today, I finished my shift at the nursing home. There was too much snow on the roads, so most of us had to stay overnight. Not only did I not get to go home, I also got stuck sleeping in the same bed that a resident had died in the night before. FML
That gives a whole new meaning to "on your death bed" :( mustve been quite uncomfortable, well think of it as the person who died lived a good life and is resting well.
Were you forced to sleep? If you had to sleep, then why not on a couch in a community area or the floor in an office? If you didn't want to sleep there, you could've found ways around it.
You only had to do it for, what, one or two nights? I worked in one before. There will be other residents coming in who will spend weeks, if not years, sleeping in a bed like that. Some already are.

It will take awhile to get used to. I work in the hospital and we have people sleeping in the viewing rooms at times.

I am sure most of the beds there had someone die in them at some point.

For those that don't say it to you directly, thank you for taking care of our loved ones.

And then? Fresh linen I hope

Am I the only one who doesn't find this disturbing. His death doesn't contaminate the bed; unless he died of something contagious.

Well as long as the sheets have been changed I don't see the problem. people have probably died in every bed there
