Today, I have to pay my college an extra $1000 because there is a $20 charge every time you get locked out of your room, and I have an extremely poor short-term memory. I'm also only allowed to have exactly one keycard at any given time. FML
do what I do the card the wallet put the wallet in a breast pocket of a jacket. always use that jacket.

That sucks, I’ve been locked out a few times because my roommates either borrowed my key without telling me or I misplaced it. We never had to pay though unless we lost it and needed to buy a replacement key. To get back in though, I either had to wait for my roommate to let me in or get the RA on duty and there was a limit of like I think 5 times you could call them for that specific purpose. Luckily I only used like 2 or 3 times the whole year. My short-term memory is bad too, but if you have roommates have them let you in and make it a habit to double check where you place things and check the door before leaving.
Me wonders if she was given a $20-charge receipt each time (in paper/ email) to notify/ remind her of said charge....
If not, then wouldn't the college be more at fault for allowing this to escalate unreasonably (in ITS favor, "of course")?
As a RA I’m just imagining the horror of having one of my residents lock themselves out of their room 50 times in a semester... I can’t even imagine the level of frustration.
Ok... this is just ridiculous! Charging so much money for BS things is one of the many things wrong with this world. Just like hospitals charge crazy amounts for every little thing or the government doing the same. It should not be tolerated.
Have you just experienced an FML moment?
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?
Thanks, your FML was submitted, and will appear in the moderation queue soon!

If you’ve managed to get locked out of your room 50 separate times you definitely deserve it.

You got locked out of your room 50 times?! Jesus Christ... Try and get yourself into the habit of checking for the things you need before you leave.

In real life, a locksmith is $100+ a pop. Grow up already!

You are in college and you can't keep track of a room key? I fear for the future...

Maybe put your keycard in a lanyard and keep it on you all times. That way you can never forget. Or put it in your phone case or in your wallet.
