Today, I did the math and discovered that every year, I pay the equivalent cost of a luxury car to a college that can't even keep rats out of the dorms. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Fortunate son
Today, I found out that this fall, I'll be living in a dorm with a communal bathroom, paying most of my way. My brother, a grade below me, will be living in a 2 bed 2 bath apartment, all expenses paid by my parents. Why? "It costs money to get rid of people” and “You can do school from home." FML
Today, I learned that when I start University next month I will have to either pay $900 for an all-access semester-long parking pass, pay $200 for for a bus pass that takes an hour to get to campus, or pay $100 to park outside campus and walk 4 miles to and from class each day. FML
Forgetful
Today, I have to pay my college an extra $1000 because there is a $20 charge every time you get locked out of your room, and I have an extremely poor short-term memory. I'm also only allowed to have exactly one keycard at any given time. FML
Today, after months of living on five dollars a day for food in college, I found out my parents bought me an expensive meal plan and forgot to mention it. FML
Today, I found out why my parents have been trying to convince me not to go to college this year. I also found out where the $20,000 they just spent on landscaping came from. My college fund. Which is now $0. FML
Coincidence?
Today, I learned that the new granite countertop in my parents' house cost $12,000. Coincidentally, this is also the amount of money I would have needed to go to the college of my dreams instead of the cheaper school I currently attend. FML
Today, I found out that I owe my college a little over $10,000. Why? Because, due to a slight misspelling of my name, the scholarship that I have been going insane trying to meet the requirements for is not actually giving me any funding. FML
Today, my college charged me for tuition for next semester. I graduated two years ago. I have a degree from a place too stupid to only charge current students. FML
Today, I had to listen to fellow classmates whine about selling one of their many houses, while I can barely afford to pay for a $100 textbook. FML
Today, I learned that the college I'm going to in the fall has been tampering with their ratings on the internet and actually only has a 5% graduation rate. Everything's already been paid for and I can't transfer elsewhere. FML

You may be able to talk to the Dean of Student Affairs about the situation and get it taken care of for free. Good luck OP

Well I pay more in the ROTC housing than civilian residents and they haven't fixed the toilet that broke last semester. Last semester they finally came and changed light bulbs after half less than half were left working and both bathrooms had no light at all.... We even clean our own dorms so there's no need for a paid janitor. Yet we still pay more. Oh and we have high ranking officials (military officers) come and inspect to make sure we have no food so they don't have to worry about paying for exterminating rats. We pay schools way to much money for useless degrees and shitty housing. Builds "character" they say.

While I agree that we way over pay for a college education, degrees are not useless. They don't hold as much weight or guarantee you what they used to, but they are not useless. If you think undergrad is bad, just imagine the costs of grad schools.

@5, my school is doing the exact same thing. the kicker is, according to the 15 year master plan, we are still getting a new library building in 10 years anyway, and our new 5 million plus one they are redoing this year will be removed. But hey, we can't wait 10 years, and **** those starving kids in Africa. *sarcasm*

there are starving kids everywhere you know

Funny thing is as the years pass college tuition goes up, but the value of a luxury car will plummet.

so what you're saying is either way you lose ?

That's why I didn't go to college I got into the linework trade straight outta high school. Or maybe my low gpa was the cause of that. But I like the tuition cost excuse better

My college is 60,000 a year but you can't buy very good luxury cars with that
1991stealth 21
$60k can get you TONS of good luxury cars.... Cadillac's, GMC's, Lincoln's, Buick's, etc... I'm guessing you are rich and driving Bentleys around in college..
CaityMandy 10
No, asshole. I don't even own a car
