Desperate times, desperate, dumb measures
Today, I was so desperate for human interaction that I asked a deaf girl in my class if she liked music. I actually signed it to her. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, a deaf customer came to my work. In an attempt to connect with him I introduced myself in sign language. He just rolled his eyes and pointed at my name tag. FML
Today, I was texting a guy that one of my friends told me about. She gave me his number and told me about how he was deaf. Three hours into great conversation I forgot and asked him what his favorite music was. FML
Today, I was at the airport, when a lady came up and loudly asked if she could sit next to me. I have serious social issues, so to avoid having to talk to her, I pretended I was deaf and couldn't hear her. She immediately broke out her sign language skills. FML
Today, I tried helping an old lady with her groceries. When I asked if she needed help she smiled. When I took one of her bags she yelled. I didn't know she was deaf. FML
Today, my sister introduced me to her new, deaf boyfriend. She proudly proclaimed that she was trying to learn sign language for his sake, so he wouldn't have to read her lips. I'm also deaf and have been trying to get her to do the same for me for 20 goddamn years. FML
Today, I pretended to be deaf to a door to door salesman. He knew sign language. FML
Today, I was sitting behind a cute girl in class. She said she liked musicals, so I played The Greatest Showman at full blast on my headphones. She turned around and moved seats. FML
Today, I arranged a date with a girl online I really get along with, because frankly we both have a filthy sense of humour and love sexting. At the date, it turns out she’s deaf, which is not a problem, but she brought her sister as an interpreter. Without our usual conversation, it was just painfully awkward. FML
Today, I worked up the courage to confess my feelings to this girl I'm crazy about. I even wrote and recorded a song for her. Instead of listening to it, she gave it to her ex-boyfriend, who responded to my heartfelt words by headbutting me. FML
Today, I realized the guy I like is not deaf. This would normally be good news. However, for the past two weeks I assumed he was deaf after seeing him use sign language. I've been openly talking about him within earshot. FML

Many members of the Deaf community enjoy music. 1) They can enjoy the feeling of the vibration, especially if it's bass-heavy. It's still a way of "listening", just not the way that the Hearing community know it. 2) Even the profoundly Deaf are not always 100% without hearing. My first boyfriend was Deaf, but would remove his hearing aids when we went to shows so that he could enjoy the music better. It was loud enough that he could still hear it in the traditional way.

Maybe the young lady, was in need of human interaction too. And the fact that you took the time to learn sign language says a lot.

She might appreciate that you treated her like everyone else. Since they still listen to music.

I dated a deaf girl at one point.Ya know deaf people are capable of feeling the vibrations(bass) like the rest of us and can still enjoy some music. Also not all deaf people are at 100% hearing loss. Hearing loss -reduced ability Deafness -cannot understand most speech even when its amplified Profound deafness -total lack of hearing Depending where she is on that scale, she may still be able to enjoy some music. music videos and subtitles are also an option for deaf people to experience the vibe of the music. combining the ability to feel the base, subtitles and watching the video lets them experience the music in a way.
