Today, my wife got me a car for my birthday. It's a nice one but I soon realized it's a trap: I have to take her everywhere, or she tells me she can take it back anytime. So much for a gift. FML

Today, it's my birthday. My wife took me to my favorite restaurant for dinner. She made me pay for my birthday dinner, along with hers. She also got me a gift card to HER favorite store. FML
Today, while talking to my parents about my car, my dad said, "Don't put a lot of money into it because we will give you ours when we move." I asked why, and my mom responded, "Well, we helped your sister with her wedding, so this is going to be your wedding gift." I'm getting a car out of pity for not having a wife. FML
Today, I gave my wife a birthday present. For months she'd been talking about an expensive treadmill that she wanted, so I bought it. Her reaction when she saw it was to yell, "YOU THINK I'M FAT!" and burst into tears. FML
Today, my parents said that they bought me a car. I had been begging for one for a year and they always said that I would have to pay for it myself. I got really excited and went to the garage to see my new ride. It was a Hot Wheels car with a note saying, "Save your money". FML
Today, I sold my wife's old car because I bought her a newer and nicer one. On the way back home from the sale, the transmission went out in her new one. FML
Today, I drove home in my brand new car, hoping to surprise my girlfriend. She came out the house laughing, saying how funny it was, and how I look like a "twollop" in it. Then in all seriousness, she asked me when I was getting my "actual car" back from the garage. FML
Today, I just bought a car with all of my own money. Then, when I brought it home my dad informed me that my mom will be driving it to work every day. FML
Today, my best friend's boyfriend stole her car, so now she wants my car, the one that I just bought from her. FML
Today, it was my 16th birthday. My surprise was a new car, that is now in the side of the garage because my mom lost control while driving it around front. FML
Today, my girlfriend was driving me to her house against my will when I said, "Sometimes it's annoying that you always decide where we go because you drive." She replied, "Yeah, I wish I could be more of the girl in this relationship." FML

Whose name is on the title? If it's hers or both of you are on the title, give her the keys and tell the wife to take her NOT-a-Gift back. If it's yours, restrict the driving and tell her you can do what you like with your car, and if she damages or takes it, the cops are a phone call away and she deserves what she gets.

Some years ago, I bought my wife a car. Recently she bought me a car when my old one died. I told her from the beginning how much I appreciated it but that I could never pay her back. I figured we’re even. Both our names are on the title… We don’t have a problem. If she wants to go somewhere I want to go, I don’t mind driving because ultimately I’m in control of exactly where we go. If she wants to go somewhere and I don’t, she takes her own car… A gift is not a gift if there are too many strings attached. You should have sorted all that out sooner. Eventually you are going to have to sort this situation out in a manner that’s fair to both of you.
