Today, while talking to my parents about my car, my dad said, "Don't put a lot of money into it because we will give you ours when we move." I asked why, and my mom responded, "Well, we helped your sister with her wedding, so this is going to be your wedding gift." I'm getting a car out of pity for not having a wife. FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my father retired and made sure to buy both my younger sisters and their partners near new cars. Despite only one having a licence. Then bought the bare minimal definition of a "functioning" car for me, as compensation for paying off the family car on my own. FML
Today, my parents said that they bought me a car. I had been begging for one for a year and they always said that I would have to pay for it myself. I got really excited and went to the garage to see my new ride. It was a Hot Wheels car with a note saying, "Save your money". FML
Today, after selling their car, my parents decided to inform me that my car (that I paid for myself) is now going to be the "Family Car". They also informed me that since it is, after all, my car, I'll still have to pay for the gas and maintenance. FML
Today, I just bought a car with all of my own money. Then, when I brought it home my dad informed me that my mom will be driving it to work every day. FML
Today, I got woken up by my parents telling me I had to go buy a car so they could have transportation. Neither of their cars work, so I was letting them use mine, and then they wrecked it. It needs nearly a thousand bucks in repairs to be drivable again, but since it was my car, I have to replace it now to appease them. FML
Today, I came home to find my dad had backed into my already crappy car. The reason they didn't buy me a nicer car in the first place was they were afraid I'd wreck it. FML
Today, my wife got me a car for my birthday. It's a nice one but I soon realized it's a trap: I have to take her everywhere, or she tells me she can take it back anytime. So much for a gift. FML
Today, I found out the real reason my dad bought a new car and generously gave me his old one. He knew the engine was about to fail and didn't want it to be his problem when it finally did. It blew out while I was driving at high speed on the motorway. Just my luck. FML
Today, I bought my son a nice car for his 18th birthday. When I gave it to him, he just got mad and told me that if I really wanted to spend that much money on him, I should've used it to help him pay for college. FML
Today, my mom sold the car I've been working on for the last few years for 100 dollars. To buy gas for her car. FML

you need to understand, the brides family is usually the one who helps pay for the wedding. be thankful your parents are giving you a car.

Pity? I think it’s sweet your parents are trying to be inclusive and give you something, too! Like, their way of showing them they love you just as much as your sister even though all the focus is on her right now. If you really feel bad about not being married, work towards it! Get out there and start dating. If that doesn’t seem to be working, work on yourself - look at your physical or character attributes and ask yourself how you can improve and grow. If you think that objectively you’re there and a pretty good catch, look at the people you tend to date and ask yourself if they’re truly healthy, realistic, or compatible with you. Reach out to friends and talk about these things - “Hey, Chuck! I know I’m pretty awesome, but is there any way I can grow or something you think I should work on but may not realize?” “Bill! How the hell are ya?! Listen, I’m having really bad luck with dating. Remember the last few dates I’ve been on? Wondering if you think I may be looking in the wrong places or focusing on the wrong types of people. What do you think?” If it’s important to you, you’ll get married when you find the right person! And if it’s not - if you’re just worried about what your parents think - don’t worry about it, live your life, and you’ll get married eventually when the time is right. In the meantime - your parents love you! Congrats on the new(er) car! 😄

with the amount of money my 2017 Hyundai has gone up in the last 2 years, it costs more than every place my fiancee and I have looked at for the ceremony and reception.
