Today, as I'm 7 months pregnant and craving sweets, I helped myself to my MIL's birthday cake a little early. The family got so angry, they actually made me leave the party. My husband agreed with them. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, my parents threw out the beautiful birthday cake my aunt made me, and served celery sticks at my party because I need to "watch my weight." FML
Today, I finally finished making my daughter's wedding cake. When I checked on it later, I found a large slice had been cut out. I soon found out that my husband had instagrammed himself eating it, with the caption "#guiltypleasures". FML
Today, while picking up a birthday cake, I was screamed at by an upset woman for getting special attention from the bakers, and that I was nothing more than an attention-hogging slut. The bakers are my co-workers and I was picking my cake up on my day off. FML
Today, my mother-in-law screamed at the top of her lungs in front of our friends and family that I was stealing her baby away from her. I'd only suggested we go home because he had a migraine. Her baby is 24 years-old and has been married to me for a year. FML
Today, my mother in-law made dessert. It was a beautiful chocolate cake, chocolate cookies, and every other thing had chocolate in it. I'm deathly allergic to chocolate and she knows this. FML
Today, my husband bought me a cinnamon roll because my blood sugar was dangerously low. My first bite was easily the most delicious thing I'd eaten since getting pregnant. As I sat in frosting coated ecstasy, my husband snatched up the rest of the pastry and finished it himself. FML
Today, I came home to my drunk husband, to find that he raided our fridge and freezer to soothe his beer munchies. That would have been fine, had he not eaten the top tier of our wedding cake I'd been saving to eat on our first wedding anniversary, which is in 4 days. FML
Today, my husband had a temper tantrum because I wouldn't get him a chocolate bar at the store register. FML
Today, my husband's mistress purposely and dangerously induced her own labor so that she would have the baby on my birthday. Yes, I'm divorcing him. FML
Today, while at a family baby shower, my grandfather thought it would be funny to inform me, in front of everyone, that I had gotten fat. I'm 7 months pregnant and the baby shower was for me. FML

Taking part of someone else's birthday cake before they're ready for it to be served is not ok. "I'm pregnant and craving sweets" isn't a valid excuse - in that case, you either bring sweets with you, ask someone at the party if there's anything sweet you can snack on or go out to get yourself something.

That's pretty ****** up on your part. You couldn't find anything else sweet to get you through the cake ceremony?

Cravings suck, but they won't kill you if you don't indulge them. That was not your cake to eat. If you'd just waited you would have had it with permission.

pregnancy and cravings are no excuse. you knew there was gonna be candles and a cake cutting. it wasn't yours to cut. you made the choice to be disrespectful. I would have made you leave too. signed, a mother of 4

You deserved it, you foul mannered, selfish brat. I feel for your poor husband.

No self control. You must weigh 500 lbs.

YDI. They were right to kick you out. You don't get a free pass for ruining your MIL's birthday for being pregnant. Control your self entitlement. Next you're going to tell your kid they owe you because you gave birth to them (they don't).

That is really immature. You also seem surprised at the lack of support. If it keeps happening I see a divorce in the future.

What a selfish b*tch you are. YDI. Sorry that you are raising kids.

Okay so you shouldn't have eaten the cake early - that's on you. But making you leave the party early is ridiculous. It's just a cake. That's on them. You husband not being on your side over something as trivial as a cake...red flag.

It's not just cake. It's extremely selfish and disrespectful and must have been extremely embarrassing to both OP's husband and MIL.

The presenting of the cake, group celebration, blowing out of the candles, and cake cutting is often a major event of a birthday celebration, with some people putting a lot of effort, time, and money into the cake. Her cutting into it beforehand is anywhere from very rude and a slap in the face to those who planned and prepared the party to, if this was a major milestone birthday with a lot of planning behind it, equivalent to cutting into a wedding cake at a formal reception. I'm guessing from the description, it's somewhere in the middle, but ultimately it doesn't matter. The family still had every right to have her leave.
