Today, my parents tricked me by claiming we were going on holiday, but stopped at grandma"s first, "just to say hi", then left me there with my bags. They dumped me with grandma and went on holiday without me. FML

Today, I was awakened by knocking on my door, only to find my parents standing there. Turns out, they booked two one-way tickets to visit me from another country. Their plan? I should scrap my upcoming 2-week vacation to hang out because they invested in this trip. Oh, and they didn't book a hotel. I'm 31. FML
Today, I went over to confront my parents about how my siblings always get to visit and all I do when I’m over is work on their house or take care of grandma. My mom was very upset. Then she snuck out with my sister, leaving me to take care of grandma until she got back. FML
Today, my parents left on a trip. I wanted to invite my girlfriend over for a few days so we could spend them together. Then my grandparents turn up, "just for a few days, until your parents return, so you won't be all alone in this big house." FML
Today, my parents left on vacation for the week. Taking advantage of my freedom, I was planning on having my boyfriend over. My grandparents just showed up as they "thought I would be lonely." I can't get rid of them. Looks like I'm not having any fun this week. FML
Today, my parents promised to drive me to my grandma's house instead of me taking the bus.I was so excited that I could finally have a week away from my suffocating parents but my dad cancelled tonight, so I'm stuck and secretly crying because if they'd have let me take the bus, I'd be at my grandma's, AWAY FROM THEM. FML
Today, I went to visit my parents after 4 years of not seeing them. They'd moved without telling me. FML
Today, without telling me, my mom dropped me off at my grandmother's house, and drove off. Now I'm supposed to spend the next month with her. Guess she forgot my grandma died six weeks ago. FML
Today, I found out that my family has paid for and booked a trip to Dubai without me. They weren't going to tell me until they were about to board but since I was crying that my friend ditched me for my holiday, they thought they would let me know. FML
Today, I had been planning a family trip for months. My father had all his bags packed, ready to go in the car. He had my grandmother's ashes in his suitcase, and planned to spread them on a mountain. This morning our car was broken into and everything was stolen. The thief stole my grandma. FML
Today, my parents, my two sisters and their significant others went on a vacation and dropped their children at my house without ever asking me. I'm single, live alone, and can barely make ends meet, and they know it. FML

That’s a super dick move. Maybe it’s not super fun staying at grandma’s, but to make you think you were going on some big vacation, just to be dropped off somewhere, must’ve been a huge disappointment. At least ******* grow up and tell you in advance. Sorry OP.

They don't have to tell them ANYTHING. Most likely they knew the OP would pitch a fit and refuse to go, so they were left with no choice.

You're right: they don't have to tell the kid anything, thereby encouraging the kid to be dishonest and deceitful.

Idk if I tell my kid we’re going to Disney World and then I take them to the dentist...I couldn’t blame them if they resented me and developed major trust issues. Everyone has their own parenting styles, but IMHO that’s one surefire way to mess up a kid.

When I was a kid we stopped at my nans on the way to a holiday and decided I didn't want to go and stayed with my nan. Lucky I did as something in the boot was starting to burn a home in a sleeping bag and would have caught fire if I hadn't decided to stay behind. Also enjoy the time with your grandparents whilst you can. You only get so much time with them. Yes it's a dick move what your family done but enjoy it nonetheless and pray they have a terrible holiday haha
