Today, I found out that my family has paid for and booked a trip to Dubai without me. They weren't going to tell me until they were about to board but since I was crying that my friend ditched me for my holiday, they thought they would let me know. FML

Today, I was awakened by knocking on my door, only to find my parents standing there. Turns out, they booked two one-way tickets to visit me from another country. Their plan? I should scrap my upcoming 2-week vacation to hang out because they invested in this trip. Oh, and they didn't book a hotel. I'm 31. FML
Today, and after a lot of effort to reconnect with my family after a while of limited contact, I found out from the family group text that my mom, sister, and grandmother went on a vacation without me, and I didn’t even know about it until they posted some airport selfies. FML
Today, I wasn't able to reply to Facebook chat message immediately, so my friends planned a holiday and bought flights without me. FML
Today, my parents tricked me by claiming we were going on holiday, but stopped at grandma"s first, "just to say hi", then left me there with my bags. They dumped me with grandma and went on holiday without me. FML
Today, my family returned from a holiday in Egypt. A holiday that I really wanted to spend with them. As if leaving me behind wasn't bad enough, they then made me watch a 200-picture slideshow of how much fun they had. FML
Today, I found out my boyfriend is booking my dream vacation to Bali with his brothers, 6 months after he told me we couldn't go on vacation this year because he doesn’t have the money. They planned this within a week. I had been planning it with him for months. FML
Today, my family informed me that we were going on a 10 hour road trip to my cousin's wedding. They only decided to tell me 45 minutes before we left for said road trip. FML
Today, I found out that my 2 week Christmas vacation my boss was talking about wasn't for this year, but 2010. I spent the day with my husband cancelling flights to Florida, and explaning to my 8 year old why we were not going to Disney World. FML
Today, I found out that my dad paid for my sister's friend's airplane ticket so she could attend my sister's wedding. I would have been there myself, but I couldn't afford the airplane ticket. FML
Today, I flew my wife, myself and three kids to pay a surprise visit to my parents who were going to be alone for Christmas. When we arrived, we found out they decided to go on vacation. We have nowhere to go. FML

It's not exactly selfish. It seems that OP had plans with their friend and was finally ditched. Sure the family should have let OP know way beforehand, but is the family just parents? Parents and a sibling? Your parents are allowed to take vacations, and if your sibling is younger, he/she probably had to join them? Older, maybe they had a huge interest to travel! And again, you had plans, your parents also made plans. Sorry OP!

Parents and a sibling? Your parents are allowed to take vacations, and if your sibling is younger, he/she probably had to join them? Older, maybe they had a huge interest to travel! So parents shouldn't make plans when their kids made plans elsewhere without them, just in case their plans fall through and they need someone to cry to and comfort their snowflake-like texture? No buddy, just no. Parents are human, have their own desires, plans and thoughts. It doesn't revolve around their grown-ass kids who make plans WITHOUT THEM.
