Today, during my boyfriend's birthday dinner, his father shouted, “Jessica, can you slice me a piece too?” My name isn’t Jessica and I’ve been in their family for over two years. FML

Today, my boyfriend sent me a text saying that last night was awesome. When I said, "What do you mean?" he answered, "Come on Jess, I bet you can't stand straight." My name is Britney, but my friend's name is Jessica. FML
Today, I celebrated my birthday with my family. While they were singing Happy Birthday to me, my mother called me by my brother's name. When I blew out the candles a moment later, I joked, "I wish my mother could remember which son I am." Before we had even started eating the cake, she called me by my father's name. FML
Today, we were having a family dinner with my boyfriend's parents and mine. In the kitchen, when we were getting the food ready, he proposed. I screamed. My dad thought he was hurting me, came in and tased him in the leg. FML
Today, I had dinner for the first time with my boyfriend's parents. It was awkward enough without his mom asking, "So, what do you do for fun, besides my son?" FML
Today, I brought my boyfriend of a year and a half to meet my parents. Turns out he dated my mom. This should be a fun dinner. FML
Today, my fiancé, his mother, my father and I went out to celebrate my birthday and our recent engagement. After dinner, my father and future mother-in-law revealed to us that they had secretly been dating and were talking about also getting married. Anybody want cake? FML
Today, I was invited by my boyfriend's parents for dinner at their house. The dinner went well I thought, until I was getting ready to leave. Before I could make it out the front door, I could hear them discussing their disappointment that their son would ever consider someone like me. FML
Today, as they have for the past three years, my boyfriend's parents have never called me by my actual name. They always "accidentally" call me by my boyfriend's ex's name. FML
Today, I accidentally said "Yes Daddy” to my boyfriend while at dinner with his parents. They threw me out. My boyfriend did nothing to defend me. FML
Today, I brought my girlfriend home for dinner. The first words out of my dad's mouth were apparently, "Ah, you must be Dan's slam-piece." I was in the living room and didn't quite catch it all, but I said, "She certainly is!" Now I'm single, and all my friends think I'm a bastard. FML

Just because you’ve been with your boyfriend for 2 years, that doesn’t mean his family is as invested as he is. Unless you see his dad every day, it’s not super surprising that he’d mess up your name from time to time. He’ll get there, don’t worry

I say wrong names a few times. If that's his only time, get over it. If he does it with the same name and often, depending on his age, correct him. My father (in his 70s) says the wrong name a lot for myself and my mom...

Was it a one off or does it seem pointed? Also, how often are you around them? I used to accidentally call my brother's (now) ex-wife by his former GF's name when talking about her, never to her face, but my brain just blipped every now and then and called her the wrong name. It's unlikely it's intentional or a personal attack.

Growing up with five siblings, my mother would regularly call three or four wrong names before getting to the correct one, and she picked them out. Unless it seemed intentional, probably best to chalk it up to human error and let it go.

Depending on what your name is, if it starts with a j for example, it was either a mistake or...his other girlfriend is named Jessica.
