Today, I was visiting my in-laws and sharing a room with my husband's 17-year-old sister. Later that night she and her brother of 24 years started fist-fighting over an air mattress and I had to pull them off each other. The brother later berated me with, "You can't handle any pressure!" FML

Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I visited my brother, and noticed that my 17 year-old nephew was being unusually cold and grumpy; a sign that he's having sensory overload. Because his parents are so loud, I knew they were responsible. When I confronted them, they responded by yelling at me and grounding him. Sorry, nephew, I tried. FML
Today, my parents told me that from now on I have to share a room with my 9-year-old sister. She already called top bunk. I'm 20. FML
Today, my brother-in-law's wife sent me a text venting about her argument with our mother-in-law. She also said said some nasty things about her and I mistakenly shared this info with my “trusted” husband, who immediately told his hot-tempered-momma's girl-IDGAF attitude older sister, who now plans on beating her ass. This is bad. FML
Today, my two sons were fighting. I had to shout, "Give me that pillow" - the object over which they were quarrelling - and put them into two separate rooms. My sons are 12 and 15. FML
Today, I heard my sisters fighting downstairs, so I went down to see what all the commotion was about. As I entered the room, one of them picked me up and threw me at the other one. FML
Today, my brother and I ruined our mother's birthday by fighting. She's 76, we're 55 and 54 and yet still unable to comport ourselves like adults. She yelled at us and then "showed me" by eating the dish he made but not mine. I reverted to teenage coping tactics, dissociating like a boss, and hiding in my room. Worst family visit ever. FML
Today, I ended up sleeping on the dirty floor because my sister didn't want to share a king size bed with me. She got up to get a drink and stepped on my face. FML
Today, a fight broke out between my 21 year old sister and our 6 year old brother. I tried to intervene, only to end up getting battered to shit in the process. According to my sister, he's going to hell for eating her candy. FML
Today, I woke up to my little sister strangling me. My parents accused me of making the red marks on my throat myself to exaggerate how bad it was. She's just "going through a phase", they say, and I'm a bad person for punching her to get her off me. FML
Today, I was taking a nap on my floor. I live with my family and it was a hot summer day. Woke up in a weird position, drooling and wearing only a bra and mini shorts. I looked up and saw my thirteen year-old sister and her friends chilling all around my room. I tried to yell at them but my voice was too rusty. FML

Yeah, that's illegal if he hit her. She's a minor, so I think it would be battery of a minor, as well as familial abuse. I suggest talking to the parents and finding out if this has been occurring for a while, because if it has, it means that they don't give a shit that their son is abusing their daughter, which doesn't bode well for the safety of any future children you may have.

That's just how siblings work. I'm a 17 year old girl and my brother is 21 and if it comes down to it neither one of us are scared of roughing the other one up. That's just how we were when we were younger so it sometimes shows now. Lots of siblings still fight like they're children, it's not a big deal and no parents are going to think that either child is abusing the other because of a little sibling rivalry, let alone accuse the adult sibling for assault.

I'm the youngest out of 3, my middle sister nearly broke my finger on purpose than lied to the police. Just because they're a sibling doesn't mean it was am accident, sometimes it's on purpose.

No I don't know how "healthy" sibling rivalry- which I think is bullshit anyway- works, because when my older brother and I fought it led to broken bones, concussions, and PTSD for me and stab wounds on his arms for him. Sibling rivalry CAN become abuse, and a lot of people sit on their ass and ignore it because "oh, they're siblings, one trying to do major bodily harm to the other is NORMAL!" I'd rather point of the possibility than be the same type of person that led to me having cracked ribs three times.

I assumed that if there were only 3 bedrooms, and 2 opposite sex sibling living there, that it meant girls would bunk together. Otherwise brother and sister would have to share a room so hubby and wife could have a room.

If it was fun, then cute, but wrong place. If serious or aggravated, notifying the parents or police are the correct steps.
