Today, I asked my mother-in-law to watch after my baby daughter. When I returned home, my baby's ears were pierced. FML

I would probably flip my shit. She had no right to do that to your child, especially without you or your husbands permission!

I don't understand why people want to force metal through a child's ears. Let them decided if they want to do that when they're older.

@42 Not exactly. On Friends it was Rachel's sister.

Having flashbacks to the episode of Friends where Rachel's sister gets Emma's ears pierced while she's babysitting her.

I don't understand how someone can do that without the parents permission. it's disrespectful. I guess you could always take them out and the holes will close up.

I would take them out to lessen the risk of infection and to spite your mother in law. I also wouldn't leave her with the baby again and if she asks why, I'd be very clear of why. I have a torn earlobe that looks gross.

The problem is that the mother in law was never given any permission to do that to someone else's child.

She would never be alone with her ever again. Is this illegal in canada? In the us if a parent doesnt sign off in that its illegal.

That is when you say, "well you will no longer have visitation without supervision." If my MIL pulled this, she would never see my kid again. Disrespectful.

A favor? Putting a baby through unnecessary pain? Dont do me any favors.
