OP, it does suck but since you agreed to do the job then you should have expected it. just suck it up and deal with it. your life isnt really f'ed just because you have a crappy job (no pun intended).
be thankful that you have a job in this economy. your life sounds pretty good to me.
fuck you 42 my mom does the same job and it's not like she asked for it or diserves it she's probly has no other choice.
So? She's old, you work at an old person's home, and they cant control their bodily function. This NEVRER has happened EVER in the history of the world? Im sure your life is fine lol.

I want to see you clean up other people's shit without even pulling a face, because shit is human and normal.
So what if its happend before? Its a goddamn sucky situation, I would throw up constantly if I ever had too wipe someone elses shit up. especially if it was a "trail". But that might just be me with my phobias.
Anywho, FYL op. And fuck the old ladie who havn't passed on yet. Which would be appropriate since her body is caving in already.

If this is your most annoying problem in your life, then you're a lucky person.. YDI because you knew what you took up with that job.

Just because it's your job doesn't mean you have to like it.
My first job was a housekeeper at a nursing home....this was pretty much a daily occurrence. Doesn't mean it still didn't SUCK BALLS when it happened.
Now that's what I call a sticky situation!!
It's part of your job, isn't it?

ummm honey i dont bout speck it is!!! You care for people not clean there shit
LOL
unlucky though, I think I would have laughed then been sick
Sounds like she is in need of a Bionic Bottom (google it if you don't know what I am talking about). ;)
She should've been wearing Depends.
No, that's still a shitty situation.
Sorry, OP, but FYL.

LOL!! That's funny!!
this should've been posted in response to the bionic bottom.

suck it up, you knew what you were getting into when you applied.

Omg I'm a CNA and I happen to be in Arizona as well. I had an obese patient who was put on water pills and she refused to get up to go pee so she would go all over the floor and her bed and I had to clean it up. Like every half hour. I feel your pain, lady.
wow, yours is actually worse because at least this old lady tried making it to the bathroom, but to have a person refuse to even try to make it to the bathroom, knowing you're going to have to clean it up... THAT'S an FML
She probably left the crap trail so she could find her way back to the couch. For all you know she gets lost easily in her old age. Hopefully you didn't clean it up until she got back.

I think it's more of a FHL, I'm sure she was exremely embarassed, I feel really bad for her.
I feel sorry for both of you. I had to care for my 88 year old grandmother at the end of her life and she felt very bad anytime it would happen, but shit is shit and it's difficult to be cheerful when you're cleaning it up. Being in the military means you may get shot, but you're not exactly thrilled when you catch a bullet. It still sucks.

FYL. I work at a senior home as well, and I know you know it happens, but it still sucks! something very similar happened at work the other day, but they sent the other team to clean it up so I got lucky :)

If you don't want to deal with incontinence, then don't work as a housekeeper at a place like that. It's a shitty job, pun intended.
Better to deal with incontinence then incompetence. ;)
That really blows. At least you have a job.
Ugh, FHL and FYL. I disagree with people saying that it's the OP's fault for choosing the job. She probably had no other choice for a job. If you're in the United States, you probably know that it's hard to get a job right now. Just because you get a job doesn't mean you have to like doing it. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be delighted to clean up somebody else's shit either. Sometimes you have to do shitty jobs in order to have enough money to support yourself and your family.
That lady must have been humiliated though. Elderly people don't have great control of their muscles anymore, so incontinence tends to become a problem. This is why I don't ever want to be old, because of all the damn problems. Hopefully the lady finds a way to treat her incontinence.
not really an FML. you kind of have to expect that stuff with that job.
I can't stand FML's where people complain about the duties (no pun intended) that come with their job.
aww :( sux 4 both of you!
I understand how you felt about it. I work as a nurse, and have to clean that kind of mess every morning when I get to work. But that's life. When I'm old, I hope there'll be someone to clean behind me, and that she won't hate me for it, that makes it easier.

Quit your job. Now. That is NASTY!
I don't understand the phrasing. How did she make it just fine if there was a poo trail from the couch?
FYW
I was just coming on to ask that. Did she make it? Or did she shit all over the floor? Those are two very different outcomes.
YDI for your poor story telling ability along with the fact that you probably didn't have to clean up the poo. YDI for sure.
Where I work a CNA would have had to clean it up. The housekeepers get paid the same as us, and all they do is mop the floors and dust the light fixtures in the hallways. They won't even flush a toilet. Last week someone left me a surprise in the toilet so I flushed it and walked away, thinking everything went down. Apparently it did not because a housekeeper yelled at me for not flushing and then stood there and looked at me until I dropped what I was doing to go flush it again.
I agree that having to clean up in that situation would suck, but hey, you had to know that this would happen sooner or later when you took the job.
Yeah, it sucks, but that's part of the job description, right? If you don't want to have to do that, find another job. YDI
Its sad she couldnt control herself. I think working at a old folks home you'd expect this.

Are you allowed to repeat that? Doesnt your job have a code of confidentiality?
damn that stinks

Dude, you work at a nursing home, as a housekeeper. That's part of the job! I work at a nursing home as an RA and that would be like me bitching that I have to clean up someone's shit. That's part of my job. Accidents happen and quite frankly, this is not an FML.
WOW u chose to work there and now u complain! I used to help out a nursing homes when i was 5/6 because my family couldnt afford a babysitter that wasnt creepy. Theyre old and cant help it, thats why ur there to help them along with the nursing staff. Get a life as a walmart greater instead lazy bitch.
Aw, poor lady...more like FHL...or maybe F Both of Your Ls
Caring for the elderly is a very respectful job, looking after people who don't have the family to do so is amazingly selfless and is obviously tough at times, but I imagine rewarding too. My cousin works in a nursing home and she has had to clean up some horrible things in her time there, but she reads to them, plays chess or scrabble or just talks to them to keep them company.
BUT, that said -
FYL for not having an inch of respect for this woman...she didn't do it on purpose, so why don't you pull your head out of your ass and show her some respect.
This woman cannot help it, I expect she was really embarassed about what happened. I hope that when you are her age and, if you happen to live in a nursing home, you have a simple-minded, selfish "housekeeper", such as yourself, who thinks so highly of themself, so much so that they feel the need to post such a petty anecdote on "fmylife" (surely there's a confidentiality agreement where you work) in which they are completely selfish, and have complete disregard for your feelings...
Her family are probably paying the home (and so towards your wages) to look after her so why don't you start being responsible and respectful. Also, FHL for having someone like you looking after her.
Just put yourself in her shoes... I don't think you'd like it if someone so publicly thought their own life was f**ked up just because you couldn't control your bowel movements and they had to clean up after you...don't you feel sorry for her? Or are you really that self-centered?
P.S. Karma...it will get you back.

I feel bad for the old lady :( that's sad, it's not her fault.
