Today, I phoned one of the IT guys upstairs for help with my PC. He said it would only take a few minutes; and would just fix it through a direct connection from his computer to mine. Hours later; I was feeling devilish, and quickly checked out an adult website. Mr IT Guy was still connected. FML

"i phoned one of the IT guys upstairs" seems to indicate this happened in an office setting. in which case OP had no business checking out an adult website at ALL. not to mention the fact that IT would've seen that even if they didn't have someone remotely accessing his PC - they can log where the bandwidth goes and what sites you pull up.

There is no reason that he should have still been connected. That is a privacy issue. Just tell him that you won't tell if he doesn't.
actualy, most if not all companies have it in their computer use policy that they are using a private network and the company has every right to monitor what THEIR computers are being used for and to take the proper corrective action for mis use
haha.. traffic is monitored on networks all the time pretty much everywhere. It's only invasion of privacy if you're at home on your computer using the internet connection you paid for.

Actually his dad would probably be doing more important things like managing the network, improving services, improving security, working out ways to improve the computing experience while reducing costs, the list goes on. Oh yeah I also call bullshit because you said you called upstairs to IT... its a known fact that most IT departments are kept in dungeons as the people working in them are allergic to sunlight, are shocking with human contact (especially women) and they need a space to game after hours where they can make all the warlock noises they want without disturbing others so calling upstairs is near impossible ;)

your a dumb ass. I work in IT and have to use that type of direct connection a lot ( we call it remote access ). when we use it. there is an icon on the persons screen that I am viewing that stays ontop of every other window. and it tells u I am still connected..... YDI!
