Today, while working the graveyard shift at my hotel, it felt a little chilly, so I grabbed a blanket out of the box we usually store old blankets in. Twenty minutes later, the live-in maintenance man casually remarked that those blankets are all infected with bed-bugs. FML
Today, after being moved to three different employer-provided apartments because they all had mold and electrical problems, I requested a bigger bed. The bed they delivered had bedbugs. FML
Today, I discovered I have bed bugs. I have nowhere else to sleep and I won't be able to afford a new mattress for at least a year. I'd better get used to these giant welts. FML
Today, after three visits from exterminators and another from a steam cleaner, I still have bedbugs. FML
Today, after taking my jacket off at work, I found a large faint stain all across one side of my shirt. Turns out that my fiancé had used it to "clean up the bed." I am the manager of a supermarket with 40 employees. It was pretty obvious what it was. FML
Today, I discovered that my bed has a flea infestation. I discovered it after sleeping naked in it for about an hour. FML
Today, I noticed a rash of insect bites on the backs of my thighs and buttocks. Upon further investigation, it appears that the inside of the chair in my work cubicle is infested with bedbugs. I'm too paranoid to sit in any work chair now. There are 12 hours left in my shift. FML
Today, I was training a new volunteer at a clothing donation center. While explaining how to sort donations, I reached into a garbage bag full of clothes and something on my hand caught my eye. It was a bed bug. The bag was full of them and they sought refuge up my arm. FML
Today, my wife’s unending cheapness and need for a “deal” has bitten us in the ass. Literally. She accepted a bag of clothes from a coworker and yup, you guessed it, it was infested with fucking bedbugs. Now our whole house has them, and all she said was, “At least the clothes can be washed.” FML
Today, I woke up to something crawling on my leg. Thinking it might be a spider, I jumped out frantically to check. The good news: it's not a spider. The bad news: it's a bedbug. My apartment was just treated for them. FML

I'm sure he didn't intentionally bring them into the store. Just call an exterminator, and you should be fine :)

You must not know how difficult it is to get rid of bedbugs. It can cost up to several thousand dollars. Also no one wants to buy a mattress that was previously infested with bedbugs, so the mattresses might be rendered practically useless.

It is equally possible that the employee picked up the bed bugs from the mattress store. It sounds crazy, but there are a number of home infestations traced back to new, unused furniture.

Better bedbugs than a major fire. A carpets store just burnt down nearby. Still an nuisance I know but exterminators will get rid of them. :)

Bed bugs are notoriously hard to get of and it's a very costly procedure. Plus they have to lose money while in the process, because they have to shut the whole store down. Also they may have to call all their recent customers and tell THEM that their home may now be infested with bed bugs and now they must complete this costly procedure on their home too. The store is either going to have to pay for that, refund the mattress (if they even want it at all anymore, I wouldn't) or both. Tons and tons of money lost in this scenario, along with their reputation.

Sadly, He'd be better off if it had burned down actually. Then, as long as he was insured, the insurance company would have covered it. Insurance companies rarely cover infestations....
