Today, my friend sent me a link about a nine year old kid who wrote an iPhone app that gets 2000 downloads per week. I am a 28 year old software developer and have been failing to write an iPhone app for months. FML

i read about that kid. hes chinese. his dad didnt help, nor was he impressed. i quote: "Ding Wen is an above average boy with an interest in computers, especially Apple IIGS and Macs, likes to do programming, and that's it. i highly doubt the kid did it on his own. more than likely his dad DID help him in some way or another. I highly doubt he sat in front of a computer and learned all those coding languages all by his self. Some one had to teach him the ropes.
And hey, at least you know something that most people dont. Not a lot of people can even get to the position you are in now.

I wrote apps for the Atari when I was a kid. Programming isn't any tougher than algebra. At least not today. Back in the day when you had 64K ram to work with and needed to code in assembly, no 9 year old could deal with that. Now you have pre-packaged crap that a 9 year old can do.
And as a kid, not having to have programmed some boring ass business applications for 20 years, he's probably still excited and innovative.

Yeah, his dad is Chief Technology Officer at a tech company. Not to mention, young prodigies rarely end up being great as adults. Most of them are maladjusted, socially awkward adults and are eclipsed by the more genetically blessed real geniuses out there who might not have had a head start due to family connections.

Fake! According to apple's terms of use etc, you must be 18 years or older to get into the app making program! I'm 16 i wanted to make apps and i couldn't because you had to be 18 and pay 99 bucks, so i know your lying you bastard YDI.

And if you cannot write an iPhone app after months of trying, you should probably seek some help or do some research. Grab a book or two.
