Today, I heard on the news that the average debt one is in when they graduate college is $24,000. I've been in college for one year and my debt is already $20,000. And it turns out that my school's accreditation does not exist like I was told. $20,000 in debt and no college credits to show for it. FML

should have researched the college first

go to a different school asap. it's obvious accreditation means something to you or you wouldn't have mentioned it. Don't pay 20k a year for something that's not going to earn it back for you.

there's no point in continuing college there if it's not an acredited school!

jump ship. they lied to you. you don't owe them another $60,000. without accreditation it is pointless.

Agreed. Cut your losses. Also, YDI for going to a "college" you heard of on a TV ad.

Would you like to sing Guns 'N Roses with me at a bar for karaoke night sometime?

That's nothing compared to many in this economy. Stop bitching. YDI

I'm seriously confused about the "OMG THIS ECONOMY" posts. Are people fighting to the death over spare change in America or something? Or do people just climax when they see the opportunity to use "Economy" in a sentence?

^This. Who WOULD want to be $20k in debt at that age?

sundayporch 2

Who would want to be 20,000 in debt at ANY age?

Anaxes 5

Anyone who makes a 6 figure salary would be fine with a $20K debt.

most college students don't tho...

lotuspod 0

yea the average person don't even work on a salary let alone making 6 figures, and 20k debt is a lot at any age

should have researched the college first

he probably did, that's the depressing part.

if he did, then he is either bad at it, or was too lazy to do proper research.

Enough with the repeat comment. This area is not for spam.

the accreditation just means that if op decides to transfer to a cheaper school the credits won't transfer... so it's either 20k a year for 3 more years or transfer now and be out 20k

lacking accreditation means his "degree" is basically more useful for wiping his ass than getting a job... *cough ITT *cough*

but its the "college experience " drinking and party is what you really pay for
