You might want to get her to the doctor. That doesnt sound like a normal healthy response. That's a lot like what happened with my grandmother when she started to go downhill due to Alzheimers. However, I may just be reading too much into it.
your mom might have Alzheimers. This might be serious lol.
#10 - On 04/15/2009 at 4:57pm by Tick
I think this is one of the many incidents we need a "Parents" section for. :P
HAHAHHAHA
#12 - On 04/15/2009 at 4:57pm by charlottex33
Were you born on a Feb.29?.....cause if you were, you'd be 5 years old, so that gives your mom a reason to be worried.....lol.....and why would a 5 year old be driving?
LOL.
That sounds a bit ridiculous. I'm surprised this got through.
Does she have some sort of mental problem?
Something almost exactly like this was posted like a week or two ago.
...you dont live with your parents do you??? because if you do then you probably brought that on yourself...
#16 - On 04/15/2009 at 4:58pm by ellebell
I agree with #8. If you are 22 years old, you should be able to spell aisle correctly...
thats very embarrassing but why were you at win-dixie with your mom when your 22 in the first place?
#s 8 and 17 it was one letter, get over it.
she needs medical attention. but ydi for shopping at winn-dixie. seriously, you don't have any better supermarkets in your area?
This comment has been moderated.
I'm not saying this is neccesarily true, but the person COULD have just typo'd "aisle". isle...aisle...easy typo.
#21-I hate it when people call others out for where they shop as if you decide what supermarket is best. I have a grocery store less than five minutes from my house that isn't that great, but I go there when I'm shopping for necessities. It's a lot more convenient than driving twenty minutes to Target.
Oh i'm so sry, how old is she? the older parents get the less rational they can be sometimes....
this cant be true
#26 - On 04/15/2009 at 5:07pm by Jad
....your mom should jump off a cliff if this is true
Haha. Over protective mom! Is Winn-Dixie seriously the name of a store?
@#24
People need to feel better about themselves, by any means possible.
Sad.
@#24
People need to feel better about themselves, by any means possible.
Sad.
#31
Winn-Dixie is a convenience store.
To the poster-
That sucks. If you haven't moved out yet, I think this is the right time to...
winn dixie is a grocery store
i call bs on this thoughh
Lol what a sight to have seen i wish i was there!!! lmfao
Dude, your mom is a dumbass, lmao. And so fucking what if they shop at Winn-Dixie's? Not everyone can afford Whole Foods Market.
My mom still calls to make sure I'm eating healthy and taking my vitamins and I live on my own lol. I get where you're coming from OP.
#31 Winn-dixie is a southern chain (I think but I could be wrong) of supermarkets. It's kind of like food lion but smaller. There used to be one where I lived but the shopping center got sold to someone else.
Your mom sounds a bit nuts but for some reason I can see mine doing the same thing, which is what I avoid my house as much as possible.
this is a repost. i've read something exactly like this on this website before
he just changed a couple stuff around.
I've actually seen this happen to someone in a store. I feel sorry for you. And for your mum.
Also, not everyone is perfect at spelling and typos do occur. Seriously, grammar Nazis need to get out more.
lmfao my favorite by farr.
your mom might have a mental problem that both of you don't yet know about
#s 38 and 39 two people can't have the same type of FML?
haha, that's hilarious! was she joking?
overprotective much?
I agree that is pretty crazy.
Who would of guessed there are still Winn-Dixie's around?
winn dixie doesnt exist anymore this is totally false. and dumb.
is this not a good fml, or fake just because it has nothing to do with sex? hahaha i think its funny and i can kinda see my mom doing something like this. but at QFC cuz i have never even heard of Winn-Dixie
sad times for you.
and how is this BS? there are lots of rents like that..
woww .
#37. I love how you explain Winn-Dixie is like Food Lion. I never heard of Food Lion either. I guess I'm isolated in Los Angeles lol
If true, I think it would indicate some sort of anxiety issues...
atleast ur mom cares 4 u, unlike many of the other moms mentioned in these FMLs
:D
Some mom`s love their kids so be happy with it.. think how life is some that does not have a mom that cares so much for their kid.
ahahha that sucks, my mom totally used to do stuff like that -_- definitely fyl

but wow.. lmao.

#55 - On 04/15/2009 at 5:47pm by Four
Okay, so my mom used to do things like this all the time - purely to embarrass my siblings and I.
Don't think she ever went so far as calling us on the intercom, but definitely pretend-cried, laughed really loud, etc, etc.
She could've easily been playing a joke. Doesn't make this fake.
#56 - On 04/15/2009 at 5:47pm by lmfedcba
you're 22 and you can't spell "isle"?
it's aisle buddy, i'm 13 years old and i know that.
haha I never heard of a winn Dixies or a food Lion either....
Now if you mom did this but was joking, now that would be funny and embarrassing for you...but if she wasn't joking and did this to you...then yes, there might be a problem...unles your mom is just that ditsy
xD That is just too cute.. and slightly disturbing o.O;;
hey dont worry about it my mom like that too
if you can recall a post from weeks ago similar to this one then you probably get on this site too much and need to get a life instead of complaining about it....im just saying
#62 - On 04/15/2009 at 5:54pm by ellebell
Hello aged 22. isle - island in an ocean aisle - place you walk down in a store.
This FML sounds like another one I've read before...except the store was Ikea!
I call this bullcrap. Somebody already posted this not too long ago.
I think mom needs some help. Psycho.
I think she was just trying to embarrass you, its still funny none the less.
#23 +he might not be a native
#72 - On 04/15/2009 at 6:07pm by Zir
HAHAHAHAHAH.
omfg.
omfg.
omfg.
this made my day.
but thats kind of sad.
#8 you obviously don't understand the post. he went to a different isle, as in another way to spell island.
I don't care HOW old you are. Grow the hell up and start treating your parents with more respect. If you start acting your age, MAYBE she'll start treating you that way.
Whats a "Winn-Dixie"??????
I bet she thought you were going to a different isle, not a different aisle.
All this happened Because of Winn Dixie. Get it? My attempt at humor based on a children's book. Hahaha this comment phailz...
#75...WTF? your rant is unnecessary and lacks reasoning.
I worked at Target throughout college and I believe the story. Mainly cause I probably made a dozen or so pages just like this. Some parents just don't get it.
omg... ur mom cares about u lol
People are dumb.
Maybe this did happen, who cares if someone wrote one like it.
And I hope you all realize that moderators RE-WRITE these, to make sound better, more realistic and what not.
Maybe the moderator spelt the word wrong. Either way, who the eff cares.
@46
You're a dumbass. There's one 2 blocks away from my house open and functioning.
#46: You are an idiot. Winn Dixies are still alive and well and there are atleast 3 in New Orleans alone.
Winn Dixie is a grocery store.
winn-dixie went bankrupt in 2006. there used to be several where i used to live in south carolina, but they have all been closed down. all of them, all over the south.
winn-dixie and food lion are simply regionally common stores in the southeastern united states. it's no different than quality markets is to the midwest and giant eagle and wegmans are to new england.
hahaha thats reallly funny
Seriously, people, it's a fucking typo. One letter. Haven't you ever been typing and just missed one letter? No? Oh, I guess you're just that perfect.
And I honestly believe this one. So what if the poster is twenty-two and living with their mom, and shopping at a "cheaper" store? You don't know their financial situation so this might be the only thing that works for both of them. Or the poster WANTS to live with their mom. Yeah, that's a possibility in case you forgot.
Or, y'know, their mom could have done it to screw with her kid. As in not being totally serious and irrational. That's what I would have thought.
#13 while I realize you were trying to be funny, being born on Feb 29th does not make you 1/4 your age... you may have only had 5 birthdays, but you've been alive 22 years and therefore are 22 years old, just like any other 22 year old.
#89: thank you I was so confused at what the hell 13 was talking about.
oww come on !! that's really sweet .. haven't you read the fml's about parent's being ignorant and rude to their kids? ... you are in a much better situation
I don't see the issue with being 22 and grocery shopping with your mom. News flash: I'm 22 and I sometimes do. Once you get over the "nobody understands me and my parents are Nazis" teen angst, lots of people realize their parents aren't nearly as bad as they thought, and actually WANT to spend time with them. And if the OP is in college and their mom is paying for their school, of course they'd still be at home.
dump your mom and get a life ;) sooner or later you need to tell em to let go
Well shit, your mom is smoking something imported for mexico most likely.
Lmao.
That sounds like something my mom would do.
I'm 26 and go shopping with my mom because grocery shopping sucks and its nice to have someone to talk to. I live across town from my mom and dont see her all that much and shopping with her is an easy way to spend some quality time. The OP could have been doing the same thing.
Well, at least she cares about you!
wow thats hilarious nice story man!!!!!!!!!
i agree with #8 your 22 you should be able to spell a simple word such as aisle
wow......lol....omg people one fucking letter missing. Could be a typing error
#46 Yes it does, Winn-Dixie is still around.
I went to one like 2 weeks ago in Florida.
"you're 22 and you can't spell "isle"?
it's aisle buddy, i'm 13 years old and i know that."
Would you like a fucking cookie? Get over yourself; there are plenty of things you don't know that many could get in your face about, such as the fact that sentences generally begin with a capital letter; semicolons separate two independent clauses, and "I" as a word is capitalized.
First of all, do none of you read? I've never BEEN in a winn-dixie but I am aware of them because of the book "Because of Winn-Dixie"
and #46. um? they do indeed exist still. in fact, the chain ranked 22 on the Top 75 North American Food Retailers
#74 is my favorite
and #100. you should be able to use YOUR correctly before criticizing someone else. you were looking for "you're". you are.
#104 - On 04/15/2009 at 7:16pm by Lauriebug
"Today while at Winn- Dixie, my child departs from me for five minutes. I got all scared and wondered where my child could possibly be. Five minutes later, I find my child." FML.
#105 - On 04/15/2009 at 7:24pm by rko
i thought winn dixi was a movie about a dog
Well, beside being embarrassing, she cares :)
#75: Um... and where exactly do you get that the OP acted immature anywhere in this FML? They even TOLD their mom that they were going into another aisle.
Also, where are people getting that OP still lives with mom or is otherwise dependent on her? I live away for university, and sometimes my mom visits me, and, gasp, we go grocery shopping. Or maybe Mom's car is in the shop and OP is helping her do HER groceries. Or OP (oh no!) actually ENJOYS spending time with mom.
Adulthood: Does not involve cutting your parents completely out of your life more often than you'd think.
You guys are too picky... aisle.. isle.. we all know what he meant.
Here is the apron string you are tied to: ----
Here is what it needs to look like at age 22: -- / --
Be free!
Why is everyone so focused on how she spelled "aisle" "isle"? Who cares?
That's going to be my mom.
#117 - On 04/15/2009 at 8:08pm by ToxicAudioIsLife
poor thing... that sucks.. :[
I too thought winn-dixie was the name of the dog....
Anyway, this is either false, or you really should have a serious talk with your mom, as that is not good....
lol awww
PS: I LOVE WINN-DIXIE
I worked at a Winn-Dixie for a year and a half. I HATE that place...
#24, I didn't say which supermarket is best. But Winn-Dixie is quite clearly the worst of the supermarkets in the south. They are expensive, the staff are poorly trained, the store-brand products are terrible, and the stores are filthy.
i seen lots of post like this one before i call fake or your mom is losing her memory, or concussion
I can so see this happening to me >_> my mother acts the same way... and I'm 22 too, but I still live with her and I don't drive, heh
lol i know how u feel my step mom did that to me before but i was only 14 then
hmmm,,,i'm tempted to call fake...there was one not too long ago that was exactly like this, except at ikea...you could have been a LITTLE more wise and picked one from earlier so no one would remember
but, i also suppose it could be true...if it is...well...yeah that's a bit of an overreaction ;p
Wtf is winn dixie ?
Funniest FML ever, real or not C:
#128 - On 04/15/2009 at 8:59pm by lolwhat
I want to smack all of you saying you thought winn-dixie was just a dog and/or the people who made the movie if they didn't include the simple point that the girl found winn-dixie the dog in a Winn-Dixie the store, and that's why it was named such.
#129 - On 04/15/2009 at 9:00pm by Lauriebug
I love how people are saying this is fake just because the OP made a typo, one that was only off by one letter for that matter. Seriously, don't be such grammar Nazis =/
Anyway, your mom must be really over protective. I mean, at least she cares about you, but still...FYL.
#123: That must be only in YOUR state, so stick to where YOU live because generalization is really stupid. the winn dixies in louisiana have fair pricings and great workers. I actually wanted to work there as a bagger untill I found out that I was too young.
#129: thank you, people are really idiotic.
i still remeber that book and movie and I read it YEARS ago. Like 3rd grade.
Oh OP: and maybe your mom was pissed and thought you left her.
Were you your mom's ride? Maybe she was worried you'd left without her? It's a little more understandable to be concerned about being left at Winn-Dixie.
On a side note...
#94... I'm 22 and completely independent at this point in my life. I live in a different state than my parents, but when I'm in town, I'd be more than willing to help my mother with the grocery shopping. When I was going to college, and went home on the occasional weekend, my mom would buy me some groceries to help out. When one is in college, they may be independent, but I'd highly doubt that most would be financially independent.
Oh wow that sounds like my Mom.... poor thing... Is funny though....
Winn-Dixies still exist, I live in central Florida and there are two within 15 min of my house. It is true that they suck, especially compared to Publix.
As for this guy, FYL for sure. My mom might have panicked this much if she lost me for 5 minutes when I was the age of, I don't know, five?
(It's aisle, btw. When I read this at first, I was super confused)
#129, Winn-Dixie (probably) doesn't exist outside of the US. I live in Canada and although I could assume the OP meant a grocery store, I can see people thinking of it as the dog from the book/movie (I've never read or seen it though. merely heard of it).
To those who are freaking out about the misspelling of "aisle", it's not THAT big of a deal. Just because they're 22 doesn't mean they have to be perfect at spelling. My dad's 53 and comes to me to ask how some words are spelled because he's not sure. Or they could have simply just have been typing fast and not noticed the typo.
Another thing, my dad also takes my grandmother (who lives alone) shopping every saturday. Sure, my grandmother's 84, but it's still basically the same thing; adult child taking parent grocery shopping. Maybe the OP's mother is aging? The OP's mother could quite possibly be in her 60's, although it is more likely that she's only late 40's to late 50's. Perhaps their mom didn't hear them telling her they were going to a different aisle (maybe due to hearing not being perfect as she gets older). I do have to say FYL though, as the OP's mom DID use the intercom to call them. =P

at least you know your mom loves you! ;)
I believe she may have started "the change." But funny nonetheless.
This story made my day. Thank you.
Fail, she really lost a twenty two year old?
FYL... You don't deserve that.
honey, dont take your mom to any public places...
Maybe your mom is menopausal...
LMFAOOOOOO @ the OP
and #103 says it all.
hey, #92, unless your mom actually praises Hitler and says he was right to do what he did...then yeah...she is a Nazi. It's also a political view...so yep.
hahah who shops at winn dixie?
HAAHHAH
omg that's so funny.
I wouldn't be embarassed if I were you, your mom just cares for you.
I'm sorry... I can't stop laughing! XD Well, look on the bright side: she loves you THAT much. LMAO!
FYL, though... X'D
#154 - On 04/16/2009 at 12:59am by ChristianLasha
holy shit.. poster was a letter off. calm the hell down.
Complaining about isle and aisle might be a bit picky, but I really got confused at the very beginning. I didn't know what Winn-Dixie was, and I imagined that you were at a restaurant or something and talked about moving to an island. LOL.
Typo is natural. Just to say that it can be confusing for someone like me.
Okay Number One - Winn-Dixie filed for bankruptcy in 2006 but bounced back from it. Winn-dixie is a grocery store located in the deep south, mainly florida and parts of Ga. They are currently re-modeling the whole company. I have three of them within 5 miles of me. Next time you see one step into one.
Number Two- two people can have the similar stories..same shit does happen to alot of people.
Number Three- weither it be a type-o or education...leave some one alone on there ability so type and/or speak. We all were not cut from the same cloth.
why does everyone freak out whenever there's an FML suggesting someone over 18 still lives with their parents? maybe it's a cultural thing... because in my family living on your own at 18 is certainly not normal. and what if the OP is finishing school? or lives alone and is visiting his family? or simply helping his mom out?
and lmao #75, what are you ranting about?
#148, yes, Nazism is a political view, but do you have any idea how often teens refer to the 'rents as Nazis whenever they get grounded?
Grammar Nazis, Stfu.
Its called a typo
and OP, that sucks but hella funny.
And to those who call BS, what if somethin happened to you, and you posted it, and everyone went around shouting "BS! BS!"? yeah I don't think you'd like it.
you weren't there, so stfu.
wow and i thought my mom was bad
I think your mother has bigger problems if she reacts that badly.
LMAO Have you been known to run away?
you need to double check when you tell ur parents things. they never listen. NEVER
haha WOW... my parents didn't even do that when i was a kid.. lol.
well if you went to a different "isle", that IS pretty far away and chances are it would have minimal cell phone coverage...
... i think you mean aisle.
ahahahhahahaah. wow. your mom sounds like my dad. super over protective, much?
i hope you informed her she could've called your phone.
parents shouldn't be allowed to act like this once their offspring are over a certain age. cut the umbilical cord already!
lol! that kinda sucks.. but its better than her not caring about you!
I'm 20 and my mother she is practically the same, she get's really worried when it takes her more than 3 seconds to locate me. My mother is also mentally unstable and suffers from bipolar disorder. If your mom is acting like this regularly then she might actually have some mental issues and I would suggest that she see a therapist.
Haha! Amusingly enough, I had an ex-boyfriend do something similar, but it was because he was too lazy to go out to the truck and get his phone and too lazy to walk to the computer section which is where he knew that I was. :-p That was a few years back, though.
I agree with #9. Sounds like alzheimer's.
I know a guy who has a good vocabulary, good handwriting, good spelling, and good grasp of concepts, but he writes the lowercase f backwards. People assume he's retarded or something. He's not. Same thing with the isle/aisle thing, don't make a snap judgment on ne goddamn letter.
lol...
This one made me smile even though i'm sure it was embarrassing...at least your mom loves you, right?
#176 - On 04/16/2009 at 2:08pm by lilymoose
#131, fine, perhaps Louisiana doesn't have anything better. We certainly do in Florida. But when a company's motto is "we're getting better", it's pretty clear that even they know they suck.
I believe your mom is a schizo
#177, the motto is "Getting better all the time." They don't suck. They are just trying to be the best they can be. Winn-Dixie is a very nice store. They gave me my first job! So shut the hell up. :]
i wouldnt have answered id have called her on her cell phone and been like "what the hell is wrong with you?!?! im not coming to the front of the store you can come be a rational person and meet me where i told you ill be."
hahah my mom just stands in the middle of the store & yells
"SAMMM!!! WHERE ARE YOU?" lmfao its horrible
i would've grabbed the things I need and left. or bitched my mom out.
ha. wow.
and it's AISLE. unless you happened to be going to an island in the middle of the store, in which case, my sincerest apologies. :P
If my kid told me they were suddenly going to go to a some island, and then I couldn't find them, I'd freak out too. She probably assumed you didn't get service out on the ocean.
awwww : ) hahah thats sweet
Haha. That sucks. If it makes you feel better, my mom does that to me ALL the time. I am also 22 and usually my mom is the one who wanders off. I think she finds it funny.
lmao That sucks. Sorry, dude. At least she loves you. :o)
is your mother going through menopause? lol...
I agree with #9. You may need to take her to the doctor. Best of luck to you. :)
Winn-Dixies are still around, I live a few blocks away from one back in Miami.
You should probably tell your mom that it makes you uncomfortable when she acts like a head case. Just a suggestion.
Either that or your mom is a good at acting and pulled the best prank ever.
to #46 and the others who say Winn-Dixie doesn't exist- you obviously don't live in lousiana.
They do infact still exist, and are one of the largest food chains in the south.
to #103 - Your comment is full of grammar mistakes. So if I were you, I wouldn't point out other peoples mistakes.
LOL. YDI for going shopping w/ mummy @ 22
wow this is the most retarted fmylife ever. lol watch this comment get moderated.
I could see my mom doing the same thing.
whats winn-dixie lol?
and food lion?
guessin american?
That's What You Call Overprotective
i would sen your mother to either a psychologist and/or psychiatrist to see what can be done for her.. because clearly she is suffering from something, whether it be emotional trauma or something else that had such an impact on her for her to behave so strangely..
Awwww, that's kinda sweet in a fucked up way :')
aw thats not so bad. so your mom's very overprotective and emotional. mines can be sometimes too.
Lawl. She's a bit overprotective. And by a bit, I mean very.
My mom does this to me all the time, except that she's the one that drove. I don't know why she does it, she thinks it's easier? I just stop listening to it now, if she pages you again, ignore it.
That may be embarrassing but I think it's really sweet that your mom worries about you and loves you so much. I wish I had a mom like that. :(
#208 - On 04/27/2009 at 10:31pm by Kandyland
awwww ur mom's soooo cute :)
at least she cares!
#212 - On 05/31/2009 at 8:25pm by xoxo_121
Sounds fake. Oh wait, it happened in Florida.
I didn't know winn- dixie was an actual grocerie store
HAHAHAHA that's hilarious
Awww, its such an FML, but it's kinda sweet. Mommy have a mental lapse or sumthin?
Mine is exactly the same. My sympathies. Also, if I am somewhere public and my mother wants me, she stands still and BELLOWS my name over and over until I run to her. I'm 23. Fucking stop doing that
lol that's highly embarassing... but by the way she's overreacting I believe this must not be the first time that she puts you in such a situation...
haha sounds like my lil brother. my extremely tall and freakishly strong lil brother... haha ahh I love him. : p
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! I'm sorryy!!!
LOL. Did your mom have a cellphone with her? Well, I guess even if she didn't, she could have used someone else's phone or used a pay phone. She's a bit dramatic. Also....do you know the difference between isle and aisle??
#222 - On 01/28/2010 at 9:50am by BlueTwist89
isn't winn-dixie grocery store only in florida? i used to live there and where i am now they don't have em
