Man or woman?

Today, I was sitting in the cafeteria with my friends when I suddenly passed out due to my hypoglycemia. When I woke up, I discovered that I was still in the same spot and my friends had abandoned me to go to class. Also, my stuff was stolen. FML

I agree, your life sucks (27760) - you totally deserved it (1158)

FYL. some friends you have; you need new ones.

#1 - On 10/28/2009 at 4:21am by helennaa

its not fyl or ydi ... for all you know, his friends could have thought that he was tired and fell asleep

#62 - On 10/28/2009 at 6:17pm by JxC250

Exactly! They let 'HER' sleep instead of waking her up to go to class, and now she gets a detention for being late to class(at least In my school anyway)! And they left her alone, so she would be defenselessly sleeping and get her stuff jacked, its a FYL. Man you're stupid.

#70 - On 10/28/2009 at 10:52pm by drano

Hypoglycemia doesn't make you pass out (well not for a few hours at least). You get very irritable first and start having cravings, then it starts getting hard to breathe. At that point you still have about an hour until you pass out. You never "suddenly pass out due to hypoglycemia".

#85 - On 10/30/2009 at 5:56pm by your_mother

agreed! youd feel it coming on and tell someone. pffft to this i think it's fake

#90 - On 11/08/2009 at 9:03am by bored690

Wow someone posted a fake FML? Wow that's awful, that never happens ever. I mean those ones about rape and creepy uncles, those might be fake, but nah you're worried about this one.

#91 - On 12/27/2009 at 4:56am by RyanKaufman

um I have hypoglycimia. I've never passeed out. just fatigue headaches and shortness of breath. if you suddenly passed out your probably starving yourself. eat a steak and get over it.

#93 - On 03/11/2010 at 7:49pm by tori121

You should stop hanging out with those guys... FYL.

#2 - On 10/28/2009 at 4:21am by SHANESEPiCB1TCH

Hypoglycaemia? Maybe you should eat something before you pass out? Just a thought, which i can have since i eat regularly and don't pass out. Unless theres some uncontrollable medical condition, in which case just plain FYL

#25 - On 10/28/2009 at 7:37am by rick_james_b17ch

it is a medical condition. It's like the opposite from being a diabetic. Your body produces too much insulin and you pass out from low blood sugar. google before you respond next time.

#28 - On 10/28/2009 at 8:51am by fhgoalie

snack or drink containing sugar will raise the blood glucose level... You're in a cafeteria... a snack shouldn't be the hardest thing in the world to find...

#47 - On 10/28/2009 at 1:38pm by HJB

yea but sometimes it cant be controlled. It all depends how much insulin your body is producing in a certain amount of time. If it is too much then you can pass out, even if you're eating ice cream (or something really sugary) at the time.

#52 - On 10/28/2009 at 3:37pm by fhgoalie

HJB, something containing sugar with "help" you crash even faster.
Natural sugar and such is needed, not man made sugar.

#87 - On 11/02/2009 at 5:59am by Gir711

time for new friends.

#6 - On 10/28/2009 at 4:35am by hoschiadedodi

FYL that sucks! Get some new friends. Or whip your current ones into submission!

#9 - On 10/28/2009 at 4:53am by UnitedNinjas

You should get new friends big time!

#14 - On 10/28/2009 at 5:21am by asbudds

You need some folks who care about your condition. I wonder what they'd do with a narcoleptic they knew.

#15 - On 10/28/2009 at 5:29am by fadedsmile

Given that you were already in a cafeteria, why would you let your blood sugar get so low that you fainted?? It may suck that they left you, but you deserve it for being so lax about your condition.

#16 - On 10/28/2009 at 5:34am by lizzzie

that's exactly what I was thinking...

#44 - On 10/28/2009 at 11:59am by 12345678dance

I feel for you - I have hypoglycemia, too, although it's never gotten to the point where I pass out.
Get some new friends, but make sure they're ones who actually care about you.

#17 - On 10/28/2009 at 5:46am by Moonpaper

That's pretty awful! Definitely get some new friends

this may be the most fucked up & legit FML I've ever read. If that happened to me, I would've like, cried.
LOL AW. Def find new friends and maybe some $ to get new stuff? sorry your life is so fucked. :/

#21 - On 10/28/2009 at 6:44am by laurr_rawrs

That sucks and you need new friends, but coming from a fellow hypoglycemic - why the heck weren't you eating in the cafeteria? Or carrying around between-class snacks for that matter? FYL for your friends being shitheads but also YDI for neglecting your blood sugar.

#22 - On 10/28/2009 at 7:00am by anjyu22

16, you're a genius. I need to go shit. that was my thought progression after reading your uber intelligent comment.

Friends? What friends?

#26 - On 10/28/2009 at 8:38am by LzrdPsnsSpck

Your friends are probably pre-meds who went to class to get the good grades, and let you fail to lower the mean.

Their motto: It's not enough that I succeed, but my friends must also fail.

#27 - On 10/28/2009 at 8:45am by perdix

Maybe they just thought you were tired. I hope it does it happen again for you. All the best.

#29 - On 10/28/2009 at 9:09am by th

Brah, you musta hulacinated up soem imaginary friends coz I don't see how a human cud just ditch someone who just faints right infront ovem, let alone someone you know personally. dass rediculous!

#30 - On 10/28/2009 at 9:12am by ti3n_t

I'm confused. Maybe I'm crazy but doesn't eatting something usually help people with hypogylcemia NOT pass out? And wern't you where people normally eat? So why wern't you eatting??

#31 - On 10/28/2009 at 9:13am by sarah_berah

maybe the raped you to, who knows...

#32 - On 10/28/2009 at 9:25am by Wet_Dream

Wth? Why would you even want to put that fear in people?!

#33 - On 10/28/2009 at 9:51am by Kel_x

raped her...in a public cafeteria...where I doubt they were the only people...

#42 - On 10/28/2009 at 11:29am by save_me_08

read the news.. a girl was raped with 7 boys and people just walked by...

#45 - On 10/28/2009 at 12:14pm by Wet_Dream

Thats horrible.
I only laughed because they actually stole your stuff, teehee.

#34 - On 10/28/2009 at 10:02am by CherryKatie

Acute hypoglycemic attack causes seizures and does not just cause someone to "pass out". You were tired and probably dehydrated, but I doubt you were hypoglycemic. You fell asleep.

#35 - On 10/28/2009 at 10:06am by brontide

As if... The effects of hypoglycemia can be averted with proper precautions/maintenance. Anyway, you were lounging smack dab in the blasted cafeteria. Even if this could be the case, at least you know who your real friends were (i.e. none of them), but this entire point is moot since this supposed FML is total bullshit.

I might see some sense to it if you were suffering from HYPERglycemia, but how you would confuse the two - since they're polar opposites - is beyond believable. If you're gonna post a fake FML, you could at least understand the physical disability that you're trying to fake first.

#36 - On 10/28/2009 at 10:16am by blastvortex

Clam down, buddy. (I know what I said)

There are hundreds of different ways to explain this. Here are a few.

1) Perhaps she had just arrived, and there was a long line and she was waiting for it to move along.
2) Perhaps she had no money, or lost it.
3) Perhaps she wasn't there to eat, but meeting with someone during a class, for a class.
4) Perhaps she isn't a student. A cleaner, possibly? (It's possible! Right? Right!)
5) Perhaps she already had eaten, but some time earlier and stayed behind late.

5 possibilities. Possibilities is the key word. I'm not saying these are true. I'm just saying that they're possible.

#41 - On 10/28/2009 at 11:09am by electroboy

haha. Clam.

#46 - On 10/28/2009 at 12:43pm by Cindii

Oh wow. This is totally fake. First of all, if you know you're hypoglycemic then you should also know how to take the proper and simple precautions. Such as eating perhaps? It's not too difficult when you're in a cafeteria. Also, a person doesn't feel perfectly fine and then suddenly faint with no indicators whatsoever, you would've felt uneasy beforehand.

Lastly, if you were with your 'friends' they wouldn't have left you there like that, unless there's another definition for friend that I'm unaware of. Hell, even if they did, I highly doubt you were the only people in the cafeteria and I find it very hard to believe that no one in said cafeteria would notice/care.

This story, just like most of the stories posted in FML, is a total fake. Out of all the obviously fake ones, this one takes the cake. It is so poorly thought out. YDI, douche.

#37 - On 10/28/2009 at 10:25am by fauxtograph

Is it possible that somebody who passes out from hypoglycemia looks like somebody who is sleeping? If I saw a guy sleeping at his table, I wouldn't think twice unless he was in a really awkward position or has been lying there for an hour.

#39 - On 10/28/2009 at 10:50am by blalien

Well, the kids that sit around in class thinking up fake FMLs instead of paying attention to the subject matter will have hard times in their future. Does that even things out a bit? :]

#40 - On 10/28/2009 at 10:52am by mercyFML

FYI a person with this disorder doesnt always have to be eating. They can go all day without eating and still be perfectly fine (except for being hungry). What happen is that ones body produces too much insulin randomly and therefore one will be affected. In order for one to pass out, to much insulin would be produced in a short period of time doesnt matter if you are eating the most sugary thing in the world. Some people also do not always show symtoms before it happens. It will come on suddenly. They will wake up eventually because the liver will raise your blood sugar levels.

But yea I agree with ya on the 'no one helping her' thing. that is a long stretch there.

but now you know

#61 - On 10/28/2009 at 5:39pm by fhgoalie

Well, I just found out I also have hypoglycemia, and I had it for about 2 years before it was known....just so everyone knows, you can pass out with NO warning, it sucks. So even when you think you are doing everything right, you can still hit the deck....as for this being real, doubt it, who just walks away from someone who passes out???

#43 - On 10/28/2009 at 11:34am by HA_HA_LOL

Sounds like you pull that stunt a little too often. They probably saw you peeking with one eye.

#49 - On 10/28/2009 at 1:55pm by ragsy

If you're so affected by this why the hell couldn't you pay attention to it and take care of yourself? This post gives off way too many I-want-attention vibes, YDI

#51 - On 10/28/2009 at 3:35pm by fanciesflutes

i dont see how anybody can call that attention seeking, is a unpredictable and in cases uncontrolable medical condition. jsut bitch slap them so called "Friends"

#53 - On 10/28/2009 at 3:42pm by nixypixy

how did you just "wake up" from a hypo? You need to eat something of be given a needle to set off your liver to release stored sugars. I personally think that this one, is a load of shit.

#54 - On 10/28/2009 at 4:06pm by aderghader

Message # 58 was meant for you

#60 - On 10/28/2009 at 5:29pm by fhgoalie

so NONE OF YOUR FRIENDS had ANY SUGARY SUBSTANCES with them.
none at all.

and don't tell me you didn't know because there are signs. and you should have noticed them.

ydi :l

#55 - On 10/28/2009 at 4:17pm by originalusername

there ARENT signs with some people. they could be walking and talking then suddenly pass out.

#59 - On 10/28/2009 at 5:26pm by fhgoalie

it develops quickly, i know that.
the pulse would be rapid, breathing would be shallow. they'd be sweaty, pale, and cold, and they'd be FAINT or UNCONSCIOUS :L

headaches, confusion, aggressiveness, trembling, staggering, difficulty speaking are also signs.

they're triggered by the lack of glucose, so they will happen :l

#77 - On 10/29/2009 at 4:43pm by originalusername

That happens for diabetics who are having a hypoglycemic moment, not for people with hypoglycemia. It just hits them then they pass out until their body stablizes and the liver raises the blood sugar level

#81 - On 10/29/2009 at 8:56pm by fhgoalie

once again. it depends on how much insulin is being produced in a certain amount of time. If its too much then it doesnt matter if you're eating the most sugery thing in the world.

#57 - On 10/28/2009 at 5:21pm by fhgoalie

your body will regulate itself because your liver can raise your blood sugar levels.

#58 - On 10/28/2009 at 5:23pm by fhgoalie

YDI because you live in Texas with people who only care about themselves.

#63 - On 10/28/2009 at 6:27pm by KBmaster

new friends for sure

#64 - On 10/28/2009 at 6:30pm by kaykay007

i would hardly call those idiots "friends"

#65 - On 10/28/2009 at 8:16pm by banana_head

Your friends either dont care about you, or must have thought that you were sooo tired that you passed out from not sleeping properly.

If i was you i would have confronted them about it.

Fuck the little rat ass thief who stole your stuff. I hate thieves :/. They should learn to steal from big, profitable company's e.g. walmart, sobeys etc :P

#66 - On 10/28/2009 at 8:46pm by frostie

This is why you don't count on "friends". Ever.

#67 - On 10/28/2009 at 9:20pm by giganticbrain

I would of drawn on your face b4 I left you. That's what friends are for.

#68 - On 10/28/2009 at 10:16pm by germa

It sucks about your friends and stuff, but if you were in the cafeteria, why didn't you get food? When you start feeling dizzy, you have to get food quickly to prevent the passing out. I'm sure your friends wouldn't mind buying you a candy bar.

#69 - On 10/28/2009 at 10:41pm by sadistic_mms

you need to beat your "friends" ass!

#71 - On 10/28/2009 at 11:28pm by mcguyver98

I have the same thing. eat next time, dumbass.

#72 - On 10/29/2009 at 1:09am by Devyn333

i have hypoglycemia too. you can totally feel a fainting spell coming on. it doesnt just happen ot of nowhere.

#73 - On 10/29/2009 at 1:56am by babyy09

ok or one this post is hard to believe. people that have hypoglycemia and normally pass out need help quick. I work in ems for a private ambulance company, people who pass out due to hypoglycemia need an IV with dextrose to wake you up. the person who is passed out will having snoring respirations and does not just wake up. people do not just up and pass out. they become dazed and confused due to low blood sugar and realize they need to eat. nice try

#74 - On 10/29/2009 at 10:58am by Crazyemt5150

wow go back to school. the only people who need help from passing out from low blood sugar are diabetics. Hypoglycemics sugar levels will rise again bc of their livers increasing blood sugar levels. Diabetic's livers do not raise blood sugar levels as quickly as a hypoglycemic's liver does and therefore will suffer more damage.

#76 - On 10/29/2009 at 12:35pm by fhgoalie

Hmm....you can't 'suddenly' pass out when you have hypoglycemia. You get dizzy first. And anyway it's not common somenoe passes out from hypoglycemia...it's a lack of sugar. It makes you feel tired and that's generally all. However that's possible if you are epileptic. Fake, maybe?

#75 - On 10/29/2009 at 11:28am by DisposableHeroes

you can DEFINATLY pass out from hypoglycemia, I have a few times, of course with getting dizzy and tunnel vision first, but it has happened. The important thing (if your not diabetic) is to eat, eat, eat, always keep a snack with you.

#84 - On 10/30/2009 at 11:28am by Ally1125

@ fhgoalie:
...hypoglycemia is a diabetic emergency

and it's when you don't have enough sugar, not when you have too much (if that's what you mean by their sugar levels will rise, etc.)

#78 - On 10/29/2009 at 4:46pm by originalusername

But this person is a Hypoglycemic not a diabetic with hypoglycemia. true both can have sudden down fall with blood sugar level but a hypoglucemic person will wake up. a diabetic person with hypoglycemia with not wake up. i know the difference (and similarities) between the two but other people do not seem to understand that this person is NOT a diabetic. When i said that their blood sugar levels will rise AFTER they pass out BECAUSE the insulin will stop making it drop and the liver will start to make it rise. so Yes there blood sugars WILL rise AFTER they drop. I just did the huge report on this so i really know what i'm talking about

#79 - On 10/29/2009 at 6:34pm by fhgoalie

oh and i know that hypoglycemia is when the blood sugar drops. just trying to tell ppl that hypoglycemic people (NOT diabetics with hypoglycemia (aka take to much insulin)) will wake up because their blood sugars will rise again after they pass out. sorry if i seemed kind of snippy.

#80 - On 10/29/2009 at 6:42pm by fhgoalie

You forgot to put quote marks around the word "friends."

#82 - On 10/30/2009 at 1:43am by ubertomm

Well that sux, but I have hypoglycemia and dude, you were in the cafeteria, worst and dumbest place to pass out due to low blood sugar, EAT SOMETHING!
