The yearbook editors are supposed to triple check the names to prevent that kind of stuff.
sorry you were the subject of their carelessness/incompetence.
ROFL
#4 - On 03/25/2009 at 2:58pm by ulliellax
LAWL im sorry to hear that, but it's pretty fucking funny.
it isn't fake. i mean it could be my at my school the editors suck and there are always loads of misspelled names and such. last year they mispelled the principals name.
L isn't even next to J though, unlikely it's a typo..
its close though and you use the same hand
hah. that happens to my last name all the time. it changes from it's original ukranian self to an asian martial arts weapon
it's quite mortifying, but dies quickly
if you have a sucky life you could convice people you're the new exchange student.
hello. my name is lames. pronounces lah-mez. oh lala.
ha ha good 1 #9.
sry 2 hear that, james.
there was a guy at my school whose senior picture was a baby picture of himself wearing a hat that said "playa." our yearbook editor replaced it with the word "beach." she's spanish. crap happens.
that's cute
#158 - On 03/17/2010 at 6:20pm by coolster56
at least you'll have a funny story to tell at your 10 yr reunion.
That happened to my friend - instead of showing a baby picture of her, they showed a baby picture of this chubby white boy (she's black and skinny.)
They fixed it with a little addition, though.
So I kinda know what you're going through.
wow I honestly think theres some people on here who are so retarded that they would actually put you deserved it to every single FML on here this one shouldnt have any
Could be worse, your name coulda been Mitch and got mispelled
Poor you.....my friend mitch his name got mispelled so it read"bitch"Hahaha
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
That's what I call my dad, "Lames"
In my yearbook's choir photo for my sophomore year, my name wasn't credited. Instead, they replaced it with some other girl's name. This girl was never in choir, and we only vaguely looked alike. Apparently, the editor looked at the photo, thought it was the other girl on first glance, and didn't bother to double check with our director on who the choir members were.
So I sort of feel your pain. Either someone made a ridiculously stupid mistake, or you're the victim of a mean (but funny) prank.
#19 - On 03/25/2009 at 3:23pm by bioclock
#1, don't be so fast to jump to conclusions. My high school yearbook used to be filled with errors. My senior year, they accidentally put one persons picture on top of another! So minor mistakes like this are entirely believable, especially since many high schools have their yearbooks assembled by a yearbook club, which is all students. Plus J and L are close to each other on QWERTY, so if the person who was doing this was not a good typist, (i.e, a student) then it is entirely believable.
thats not rly bad...that happens to like 20 ppl every yr in my year book, i wouldnt consider this an fml at all
lol, i am still laughing at you:) must be true:P
it happened to me when i moved here my original last name was supposed to have two Z's instead it has two S's.
haha yea at my school the administrators spelled someone named 'whitty' as 'shitty' in the directories and then tried to collect them all back hoping no one would notice.
#24 - On 03/25/2009 at 3:37pm by sjx
you should get a free yearbook for that.
#26 - On 03/25/2009 at 3:39pm by mac
And that's one reason why my name is Jimmy and not James. **** James.
my picture and name was in the yearbook from 8th grade through freshman year of college. im not sure where they got the pictures for the first and last ones because they never took any and i never submitted any. just laugh it off.
#28 - On 03/25/2009 at 3:44pm by solinv
haha #7 . if you look at your keyboard, J and L are one letter apart, if you have fat fingers, yes, it could be a typo.
Heh, this reminds me of my (badly proofread) yearbooks from middle school…my eighth-grade year, I had a pretty good school picture. Too bad they didn't put it in the yearbook – above my name was a picture of this other girl in my grade, whose hair colour was sort of similar, but she was a lot uglier than me. I mean, I've never been the prettiest girl in school, but this was ridiculous. I was sort of outraged that she was mistaken for me by every single person who worked on making and/or editing that page of the yearbook. (She got the correct picture, so it appeared twice; mine was nowhere to be found.)
#30 - On 03/25/2009 at 3:45pm by Raine_Sage
hahahaha not FML...... just really damn funny.
wtf is up with everyone getting yearbooks in march?!? fake.
HAAA sorry man. In our senior yearbook, one of my best friend's pictures got mixed up with some other girl. Well, not mixed up REALLY. They put this girl's picture over my friend's name and quote. So basically this girl got her picture in twice, and my friend's face will fade into highschool oblivion.
#34 - On 03/25/2009 at 3:49pm by fleg
lmao @ #12's yearbook editor
Who on earth clicks "you deserved it" for one like this?
omg! That is rely funny yet really sad!
HAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHA LAMES HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHa
um how is it not an FML? fmls are meant to make you laugh, and this is funny. andd im sure no one wants to be call " Lames"
Douchebags, that's who.
I just want you to know that if you'd been at my high school this wouldn't have happened. 'Cos I would have read it. :P
#41 - On 03/25/2009 at 4:00pm by mel_ancholy
haha that sucks well at least your not like my brother, my dad erased the name and put "Elroy Jetson"
Yeah, in my yearbook last year, one kid had his picture and name in there twice, right next to each other. It happens.
But it really could be worse. On my green card, it says my gender is male, when I am most definitely female. That causes a little bit of trouble me when I try to go to Canada to visit family.
Wow, are all your yearbook editors really that bad? We have student editors and I've never seen any mistakes like that before. o_0
Beat the shit out of the editor.
That sucks, but it's sort of funny at the same time. I bet it'll be hilarious to your grandkids, and nobody will remember it come next year. (I hope).
i laughed harder at #12 than i did at the actual fml
samesies, #49!
#12 is the funniest thing ever.
i just don't understand why you'd immediately go and check to see if they spelled your first name right. that's weird.
I don't think that's what he was doing. he was just going to see himself in the yearbook and noticed that they spelled his name wrong.
but wow. it is pretty unlikely that they just typoed his name. someone on the yearbook staff must not like him or something. fyl.
#155 - On 03/06/2010 at 11:13pm by lelanatty
This is why we don't have stupid pointless things like yearbooks in England, they cause problems like this...Oh, and being British, I know plenty of people called James, and yet I've never seen any of them in a tuxedo.
hahhaa, i love you lames.
#53 - On 03/25/2009 at 5:12pm by samwilly
well the L is Close to the J on a keyboard. haha lames.
#33
A lot of yearbooks come out early. I got mine in late March, early April, despite the fact that school didn't end for about another month. Then when the next semester started, they would have yearbook supplements, with extra photos and pages from stuff like prom and other activities that the previous yearbook didn't cover.

Arn't they supposed to double check? wow your yearbook staff SUCKS.

I work on my schools yearbook/news staff and depending on the amount of people it's hard too keep up with things, (we have 9 people for a news paper every week and about 200 yearbook pages to complete before the school year is over on STRICT deadlines) it get's hectic and some kids refuse to gives us any sort of help when being interviewed/ questioned, don't like pictures being taken and teachers give us hell when we pull people out of class.
Not to mention funding to worry about and what-not...
There are bound to be some errors in every yearbook considering all this, people aren't perfect.
Anyway, to the OP just talk to them, aware the adviser of the class so it doesn't happen to someone else next year. Sorry about that mistake, it kinda sucks. FYL
ALSO...
#52 - I wouldn't say yearbooks are pointless, their not just to be signed and thrown out.. they're to look at 40 years from now and remember what things were like, and who's who and how you were then.
We were sitting there on a short period one day looking at old year books from the 70's and 80's in the staff closet and the way they made yearbooks back then you couldn't fix anything, there was no undo so they got away with a lot of stuff. We were looking at and talking about teachers and how easy going and cool the school was then... the pep-rallies were so much cooler too (Punk VS. Prep day) ... also the class favorites had "Biggest flirt" which was obviously taken out because it basically said 'whore'
Either way, it is fun, not completely pointless.

ahhhhhh-what a sad life you live:[
#64 - On 03/25/2009 at 5:37pm by swmr4lyfe3
Our yearbooks misspell people's names all the time. Yours is a pretty funny coincidence, though it sucks. :D
Thats ok, my last name is Ashmore and in my yearbook it turned up as Assmore. I had an open confrontation with the teacher who edited it that year, so im not surprised he did that.
#67 - On 03/25/2009 at 6:03pm by farf
lol they misspelled my last name several times.
wait, you have "profiles?" WTF?
oh well this is not right. they're not even right next to each other! there's a K in between!
and THAT is your new nickname. :]
#70 - On 03/25/2009 at 6:24pm by curiousally
They should give you your yearbook for free, at least.
you know, people make mistakes.
sorry it was YOU though.
FYL.
HAHAHA, sorry to hear about that lames - i mean james*.
You think that's bad? They misspelled my name with an a at the end to make it sound like a girl's name.
#75 - On 03/25/2009 at 6:37pm by rxxk
bahahahahaha #9 wins
#76 - On 03/25/2009 at 7:03pm by APit
I feel your pain Lames... hahahaha
On the bright side, everyone will know who you are from now on, make up jokes to reply quickly and you'll be just fine.
#77 - On 03/25/2009 at 7:10pm by braFTW
In 8th grade, they mispelled this kid Zach's name as Jack. Idk how though.
Looks like someone in the Yearbook committee has it out for you, man.
hey dude if i were you i would actually be happy. I was in the Yearbook committee when i was in high school and lets just say, from what they told us, you can make TONS of money of them. So if i were you, i would stop crying and starting the lawsuit. Lucky kid
Dude, that sucks, I would laugh and be angry at the same time, it's like your longest savored memory of school and ur Lames.
In my graduating class there was another girl with my same first name and last name for the first three letters. They got our names mixed up. I'm blond. She was Hispanic. To make matters worse, we didn't even like each other.
#82 - On 03/25/2009 at 7:55pm by alwaysalady
HAHA! that sucks
#84 - On 03/25/2009 at 8:07pm by dang
The only thing that makes this funnier is if you really are lame.
something similar happend to me
except it was my school account name
and it was there as loser
holy crap...my name is james.....i'm scared...
This just made Fallout 3 a much more interesting game... Now I can't play it without looking at the Dad character and thinking "Lames"...
............my name is Lames :(
hahahahhaha thats amazing
hahahaha that's quite funny. still really sorry that happened to you :/
It happens all the time. Dont worry about it and do not take it personally.
That sucks! Demand a free yearbook. My sister, Erika, had her name misspelled (Erik) and she got a free one.
They even printed her a few hundred "a" stickers if she so felt like correcting them.
This cracked me up! I have a friend name James who I am definitely calling Lames from now on!
how the hell is this an FML? yearbook people fuck stuff all the time
How is your yearbook even out already? The final deadline for ours was today.
In any case, that sucks. Stuff like this happens all the time. =/ Hope no one did it on purpose. I always try to make sure names are spelled right.
hahaha, that is an fml because it would take some effort to scrue up a j and an l, even thought they are close, if they typed the right way then you have to change fingers to hit the wrong button, and if they hunt and peck than they just hated you. last year some girl in the 3rd grade didn't get a name, instead they put her name under a spot where there wasn't a real picture, just a profile. lol, atleast you are popular now
and yet it is so easy to add a t to though.....damn
Its time to bust a few heads or do something big so they wont make a mistake like that again. (Sneak a farm animal in the room they do the yearbook editing)
at least you didn't have a boner in the picture?
that's why the list of students' names should be uploaded into spellcheck. that's what we did with our yearbook.
HAHA. It's not that bad. Unless you really are not so popular in school. Then I'm sorry.
Someone on the yearbook staff doesn't like you. XD This is the second yearbook fml I've read. Where I live, people don't get their yearbooks til the end of the school year.
this made me lmao, that would totally suck
#105 - On 03/26/2009 at 1:49am by Satangirl710
Are you sure someone didn't do it on purpose!??! LOL!
that really sucks, but is really hilarious.
I literally lol'd for 30 seconds at that. 30 seconds is a long amount of time to actually laugh out loud. This is fucking hilarious. Seriously. I don't know why it struck me as so funny, but it's just awesome and great.
#7 - But it is close! On my keyboard, it's separated from the J by only the K. Very easy typo to make.
#10 - LOL!!
#108...explaining a LOL...overkill much?
you really think that's a mistake?
AHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA succkkssss
but there are worse things
that truly is funny
hahahahahahahahaahh!
could be worse
First years in yearbook class.... they can be horrible.
hahahahahahahahah. Lames.
fake. it would more likely by hames, names, or yames, with letter location on the keyboard. bs
um your real name is James, you probably are lame. I've never met a cool James.
@ # 12
thats not funny at all. D:
if any of you take spanish then you would know playa means beach in spanish.
she was just trying to make it better for everyone.
a simple mistake, honestly.
HAHAHA sorry it's funny. but you're school has crap yearbook editors. Mine are super obsessed with it to make sure everything's perfect. Or maybe someone did that on purpose. If it was really a typo, it would've been Kames. Not Lames.
nice nice
Lamesssssss.. someone might have done that on purpose which makes it even funnier
if it were a typo then it would be like Hames or Kames lmao
I was completely left out of my yearbook last year. And it was my senior year so I had my cool senior pic and my senior write-up. So I definitely feel your pain. :(
yearbook people aren't stupid enough to make mistakes on people's names. this is all bsed.
Actually #123, now that you've got me thinking of it, they've done that to my sister at one point as well. She was in the yearbook twice under two different last names and the screw up had her original school pic with it. She had the pic retaken and the retake was with her real name. But it happens. And it sucks. Just because it's never happened to you personally doesn't mean it's impossible.
what i dont understand is why people make such a big deal about spilt milk. if anything just ignore it make it a joke, who cares.
ummm 125 WTf does milk have to do with this
HAHAHAHAHA.
wow.
I hope you're not in your senior year cuz that's how you'll be remember.
So effed.
Haha the same happened to my friend. She was in the yearbook atleast 5 times because of things she participated in and they misspelled her name wrong each time. When they finally got her first name right, they forgot to add her last name.
ahahah i hope yougot the yearbook for free
Seems like this could have definitely been done on purpose.
One year this guy had 3 different pictures of himself, 3 times in a row. The first with his first, middle and last name, the second with his first name spelled wrong (Jermy instead of Jeremy) and last name, and the 3rd with his middle and last name. The same was done to some girl, cept the 3rd picture had some random name.
In the same yearbook, this girl's name is listed as "Miss Thang", and my friend was listed twice...once with his real name and another time with a different pic of himself and the name "Wily Brown" (not even close to his real name).
My senior year, two of my classmates had their pictures listed in the senior section (with their normal names) AND the sophomore section as "Hoo Hwee" and "Pee Hwee". Another guy in the junior section was listed as "Holden Mcgroin". Be glad you're not THAT guy, haha.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAAHA
i laughed out loud when i saw this
I just tore some of my rib cartilage and broke a rib at footy yesterday so it's extremely painful to anything like laugh, cough, breathe...but your post just made me literally lol so thanks for that.
I feel so lame because the most simple and childish of these FMLs set me off the most haha
I just laughed harder and more painfully at 'Holden McGroin' from #130
That sucks.
I hope there aren't any mean reasons for the misspelling. :-|
I got my school yearbook yesterday and instead of Daniel under my yearbook picture it says Michael. They also misspelled my last name. Even in the index it says Michael instead of Daniel. Honestly, they spelt/gave me the right name in the yearbook for Grade 9 and 10 (along with all my student cards and other stuff). Hopefully on my diploma this year they don't mess it up or for my Grade 12 yearbook.
ROTFL..... that is really unfortunate!
I feel for you. I have a name that has two L's in it. My senior year in high school my folks bought a quarter page in the yearbook, and the dude who did my spread spelled my name with only one. Lames is way worse than that.
#137 - On 06/01/2009 at 5:24pm by eki
I don't think that was a typo.
People are jerks.
I'm sorry I have to say this, but that is f*cking hilarious. No offense.
#139 - On 06/15/2009 at 4:48am by kempoman4
Or maybe YOU spell YOUR name wrong. Ever think of that, Lames?
U WOULD'VE GOT SO MUCH SHIT FOR THAT!
too bad this is fake. i mean who gets their yearbook on march? (which was when this was posted)
I agree!!! and secondly,
You say your name is "James", but your nickname is "rusty2020".
........It doesn't take a genius to figure out this is fake. :/
#148 - On 09/06/2009 at 12:11pm by cheerleader847
Dude, chillax. Those are stupid reasons for it to be fake. Rusty just his username. People get yearbooks in march.
I don't know that it is that unreasonable to get your yearbook in March... We would always get our yearbooks from the PREVIOUS year towards the end of the year, march/april. I didn't get my Senior yearbook until the Spring semester of my freshman year in college...
Sucks to hear about your misfortune, Lames.
sucks for you Lames. but as a former yearbook editor I cansay it takes a LOT of red tape with the printing company and all the seniors parents who are paying for an expensive senior ad and then all the layouts and all- I could go on and on. don't blame them.
hey, dont feel bad, I was in my yearbookin like five different section and they misspelled my name in every one of them!
they probably did it on purpose. the principle once put "crap you" instead of Matthew. It just so happened that he meant to do that to someone else. That's what everyone called me until I graduated.
That sucks man, but it's funny as hell too.
