aww that sucks :( demand a room or kick one of your siblings out. haha
Well if you don't live with him why would you expect your own room in his house?
That's totally something my dad would do. Scratch that. Something he's done. You'll just have to live with it. It sucks, but you'll be sleeping on the couch or sharing a room with your sister. I'm guessing you'll be out of there within the next few years or so anyway. No worries. It sucks, but to be honest, there really is nothing you can do until you become the favorite child.

Really? I'm a middle child and I suck ass at social skills. Mind you I'm not all growed up yet...
#63 - On 09/13/2009 at 11:04pm by CFR
I sucks! (i would know).. having 2 older sisters and 2 younger bros.. (I'm a girl)...
but if someone is missed out, it's me
.. my cousin even left my name out on her wedding card, she remembered everyone's except mine
and I always have last pick, this year, we renovated our house... my sisters got a whole new massive study and new really cool rooms, my bros got 1 of my sisters old room, which was cleaned and repainted, my parents got a hole new area with big windows and a nice breeze... what did I upgrade to? My other sisters old room which she dirtied and had marks all over the room, and i now have a new bed (my cousin's old one) where my mattress doesn't even fit) so it's really uncomfortable... the saddest part - it's still an upgrade for me. FML
plexico: (haha I know, long time to reply, I'm not even sure you'll read this =P) I wouldn't say I'm the favourite, but no one in my family hates me as far as I know...Though my mum wasn't exactly supportive when I dated my first boyfriend (last year). She kept saying I could "do better" but didn't really elaborate on how (I think she was mad my boyfriend wasn't like Jared Padalecki from Gilmore Girls...) . Oh and there are no baby pictures of me. Besides that, my mum never really had a favourite because she tried very hard not to.
#108 - On 09/26/2009 at 11:00am by CFR
ha. My family it was the opposite. My mom made a special effort to NOT ignore her middle child, and in teh process began ignoring her oldest (me) and her youngest. I eventually stood up for her cause my sister would come crying to me all the time about how my mom liked our other sister better. It took a long time after that for my mom to start to treat the girls about equal. They're only a year apart in age. I'm way older and she sorta still ignored me, and it pissed me off sometimes, but its alright now, cause I've moved out. I just hate not being able to check and make sure she's still being fair to the girls.
Also, this picture makes me sad. :(
Hahha, that's the same way with my father. He has the best marriage/family (not to brag, but if anyone saw the rest of his brothers' and sisters' families, they'd agree) and he's doing so financially well. :D

I'm a middle child, I have an older sister and a younger sister.
Both my sisters are overweight. My older sister is 14 and weighs about 175
My younger sister who is 9 weighs about 110
I'm 11 and weigh 78
My younger sister has bad eyesight and needs to wear glasses and has very curly hair
My older sister has super frizzy hair and they both do not shave but my younger sister needs to more.
I have cool flippy hair(haha)
I'm just stating the facts about us. They're still fun, kind've.
P.S My younger sister can actually carry me! lol

Funny Plexico, I am the oldest and I am definitely not the favourite (My brother, the middle child, is Mum's favourite, and my half-sister, the youngest, is her Dad's favourite and Mum's second favourite).
i'm a middle child, and YES I AGREE
let's just say that the only time my mom hugs me nowadays is if it's my birthday
Get the fuck off this site. Children should not be surfing this shit.
Being an only child is the only way to go. FYL
fr00bird.. you're lucky compared to me.. there's only 2 kids in my house.. that's me and my sister.. my parents both love me sister.. she's 22 and she's not even my dad's kid.. and she's still their favourite.... and i havent been hugged by anyone in my family since i was 4 years old =/ my mom ignores me.. my dad hates me and wants to kick me out.. and im only 16 (im a girl btw).... =/ ur lucky u even get hugs..
that says a lot about you...
Actually, jackkerouc9, only children often grow up spoiled, because they are the only kid that their parent(s) has/have to take care of, therefore getting more attention.
I'm not saying all only children grow up this way, but it is a common thing.
Just something to think about.
thats true.
im probably spoiled but it doesn't seem like i am haha (:
and yes im an only childd
she defintely said that her dad gave her older brother a room... so why wouldn't she have a room too?
*sings* then you can get a new daddy, get a new daddy! Police'll take the old one awayyyyy
Agreed... I'm a middle child.
stay up late, sit back and light up a fatty

You can have the bathroom
tell him....and stop helping him move.
did u assume that u were staying there?
I dont kno the situation so...
well he's not the oldest one, so he's probally not 18 and if so then it's illegal to kick him out
If that's the case, then someone is going to het his ass handed to him and it's not the OP.
yeahh like I said, ionno the situation so I dont see any complication with her staying with her mother. Thats all im sayin
Maybe you're old enough for a new place? alone? Just a thought
yes you do... it's called the bathroom
Yes, you do... It's called the kitchen. :P
if op is living out of the house, then it's not really necessary for her to have her own room... shecan always stay in her sister's room or the office if she is visiting. it's weird that her older brother gets a room, but maybe her dad just assumes op can bunk with her sis.
btw it's wandering, not wondering.
sorry to be anal but that was really bothering me.

I assume that because your dad lives in own house and you helped I assume ur parents are divorced and your dad has full custody. I assume this so dont attack me on my own opinion.

geez stfu. You have to share a room or sleep on the couch. Who freaking cares?! Your dad paid for the house so he should have an office so he can make money to make house payments so your not on the street. Spoiled brat some people don't even have a house.
#20 - On 09/13/2009 at 7:41pm by Norma_Christ16
what? I really don't see your point. His daughter should have a place ot sleep on her own.. i don't like other people in my room period
Her point wasn't "I have to share a room," it was "My brother has his own room, my sister has her own room, I have no room." As in her sister wasn't going to have to share.
Yes, her father bought the house. So, yes, he does get to choose what room is designated for what. But, being the middle child and being left out hurts. It seems like a shared custody situation and I'm sure it makes her feel unwanted at her father's house. It's not that he needs someone to tell him what to do. It's that she needs someone to tell her she's important.
you know when your writing you dont have to say period, you can type one. see, like that. we only say that when we are talking because we cant write one
you wouldnt be saying that if you were in the same situation
#184 - On 10/02/2009 at 3:52pm by Neon_Elephants
Well her older brother moved in...
I'd be pissed.
An office doesn't sound like such a bad place to sleep...
Wouldn't her brother get his own place first?
#27 - On 09/13/2009 at 7:57pm by Cookiemonsterson
Just say you'll remember this when he gets old and senile.
Pitch a tent on the front lawn. Tell the neighbors he makes you stay out there.

Your brother should get the room first. My sisters older and younger share rooms, and im the only boy, so i get my own room. Case closed. good day. I SAID GOOD DAY
Are you implying that you should get your own room just because youre a guy?
I assume he meant he has more than one sibling. So, if he is the only guy, has one older sister, and two younger sisters then the younger ones would share and he would get his own room for being the male.
If you're like me, you'll be falling asleep in an office setting soon enough. Better get used to it now.
#31 - On 09/13/2009 at 8:04pm by Triumvirate
simple, you're sharing a room with your older brother okay bitch
What #28 says. He should know better, unless there's something you're not telling us.
lmfaooo #30 love the fez reference
and nowhere during the course of this move did you ever transport any of YOUR stuff to the house? because if you did, then wherever your stuff went is where your room is. if you didn't, then news flash, you don't live there.
It's possible they just put all their stuff down someplace until they could transfer it. I just moved too, and I didn't carry everything up to my room until later. When trying to move their stuff, they could've found out they don't have a room. Who knows, maybe they have a dorm or their own place and are expecting their own room, or maybe this really is effed up.
it doesn't sound like you live with him though, so does it matter?
did you get the message? lol
awww
well make ur self cozy in the office room
But her OLDER brother isn't old enough to get his own place?
Your logic fails.
We need more to this story, OP. Either your dad's a straight up asshole, or there's something you're not saying, such as, "I usually live with my mom."
I sleep in the dining room, if you're in the office, then you have a computer. I have silverware.
I assume you've moved out or something because honestly if you thought you were going to live there you would have referred to it as "our new home".
Why would you have a room there if you didn't live there.?
#44 - On 09/13/2009 at 8:55pm by cheetahboo2010
what an asshole. you should just sleep on your dads floor , and set up a HUGE inflatable air matress right beside his bed. and sing yourself to sleep every night. loudly. he'll get tired of his office.
#45 - On 09/13/2009 at 9:01pm by treesandhills
THAT IS A WIN IDEA!!!
You can also do something until around 3:00 am, then go to your father's room, wake him up, and tell him with a totally straight face that your brother just isn't as good at fucking girls as a straight male should be.
That is a totally hillarious idea xD
Did you check the basement or the attic? I'm sure there's a room for you somewhere.
Of course... your dad could just be really bad at counting.
I'm guessing this is an FML becuase your not old enough to be moved out by yourself. I am not really sure of the situation.
based off the wording of your post, it sounds like you're already out of the house and you were hoping to get a bedroom for you to stay in when you visit...
well i think an office is a better use of space. im sure hell give you a bed to sleep in when you wanna visit. maybe a foldout in the office. stop complaining.
boo freakin hoo. omg i dnt have a room. theres a COUCH, i myself sleep on a COUCH. now the only bad part is theres no aone time haha. oooo im realy bi-polor. oh FML
no wonder your parents are no longer together. (I'm assuming they broke up.)
It's probably a case of shared custody (ie. weekends/every other weekend with Dad), hence why she referred to it as her father's house and not her own. Now, I know if I had to live in a house, even part time, I would want a place to call my own, so I can understand her frustration. It's possible that he intends to put bunk beds in the youngest daughter's room, in which case this is easily solved. However, if he simply expects her to sleep on the couch when she is obligated to stay at his house, she is completely justified in being upset.
WTF, do u regularly live with him?
Isn't it obvious? You get the kitchen cabinet all to yourself! Lucky you!

Maybe there's a cupboard under the stairs and you will get a letter from an owl.....
#69 - On 09/14/2009 at 1:07am by alwaysalady
maybe your dad's trying to tell you something? like... it's time to move out?
well #70 IF u read it said one for her older bro and younger sis so shouldnt the message been sent to the older bro
Not necessarily. Maybe the older bro is in college for a longer program, whereas OP isn't going at all, so she needs to go ahead and get out into the world. For all we know, the older brother is mentally handicapped.
you selfish little twerp. Just make the office into your bedroom. Not a big deal. Do you know how many people would be lucky to even have a house right now?
When you try to make people feel guilty it fails. The way you talk about it, anybody living in a house should be happy. No matter the family situation or how dirty/unsanitary the house is. Just shut up. Really.
FYL to the OP when it's a house that can definitely allow her to have her own room. That's the point of the FML. And the way it's worded, it does not sound like the sister is obligated to share.
Haha you're the forgotten child :D
Oh no, your mom is dead and your dad doesn't want you anymore, YLIF. Now quit crying about it.
thats the point of fml silly C:
If you're over 18 it's probaby a hint to GTFO!
#76 - On 09/14/2009 at 9:39am by Zoa
These types of FMLs really grind my gears, with all these "if" this and "maybe" that's.
Is this whiny pig over 18 - we don't know.
Was there a bitter divorce or death of Mom - we don't know.
Does she stay over at Dad's regularly - we don't know.
Does she have her own place - we don't know.
Was she hoping to move in to Dad's house with these extra rooms- we don't know.
Do the siblings live at Dad's full time or does he just like them more - we don't know.
The only thing we know for sure is that she was helping Dad move. She wasn't moving. So what the fuck does she need a room for?
Are you some sort of fuckwit? There were no "If"s or "Maybe"s... Just shut the hell up.
There are quite a few 'If's and 'maybe's. Skullbuster even listed them for you. He meant the ones that arise after you read the FML. They have a bearing on whether it's an FML or YDI, but we don't know the answers.
Thanks Intoxicunt for providing the clarification. Now I have to add drummer_dude to my Nixonesque target list!!
YDI for being the middle child that doesn't count.
:D
If you're under 18 then call child services for christ's sake!
If you're 18 or over...take the hint!
I'm the middle child and I'm normal I have sharing issues yes but I'm always heard. I'd be putting my stuff in his room when he asked what I was doing. I'd tell him unpacking my room when he told me it wasn't my room I'd ask him where the fuck is it then. but for a girl I'm a real smart ass. they learned not to forget about me. so FYI grow a pair
I FOUND IT! I'm sorry, that sucks... where did he move to now?

the illustration makes me go Awwwwwwwwwww :3
To #91: I think the illustration is still related to the FML as the 'box' represents the room, and the cats represents the people mentioned in the FML. Boxes are where cats usually live, and the cat who doesn't get the box is the girl who doesn't get the room in the original FML story.
I personally find this illustration cute and cleverly interpreted from the original FML :)

Wow this illustration is just terrible.
#95 and #91, if you don't like it, don't comment on it. Its rude to the artist, especially as this is hand painted.
I love the illustration ^.^ So cute (: I wish I could paint like that.
#102: While I completely agree that the commenters you mentioned shouldn't post pointless things offensive to the artist, I must take offense at your "especially as this is hand painted" words. Artists deserve respect whether they work by hand or on a computer.
The computer isn't drawing or coloring anything, it's still an artist who has to do it, regardless of him or her using digital or non-digital paint.
I had to point this out, because way too many people assume digitally painted art is worthless because they're so used to things being done non-digitally, and that makes NO SENSE.
Art is art, the process and effort are the same, the only thing that changes is that when you do it digitally, there's no need to wash the brushes afterwards and you won't run out of paint and have to buy more.
And to the artist: Gorgeous illustration, btw, and fits the FML so cutely. :)
The illustration is really sad, lol :(
I think the illustration is awesome! One of the best ones yet.
The illustration is so cute! Kitties! ^_^

the comic is really really dumb.
Actually, I find its symbolism and cute little affects that were all hand-drawn not only relate to the FML itself, but makes you feel sympathetic towards the OP more.
maybe you have to share with your brother or sister?
Aww I love the drawing! Nicely interpreted without changing too much :) Thumbs up to you and a double thumbs up for HAND paining it! I mean, wow.
Oh my god this illustration is ADORABLE I WANT TO TAKE LAST CAT HOME WITH ME ;_;
This is a lovely illustration! It is one of my favorites. I really enjoy the angle the very talented artist went with...
This illustration makes me feel infinitely worse for the OP :o(
that sucks im the middle kid (well sorta my "yonger" sis is my twin but i was born 1st) and not just my fam but ppl every ware hate me!!!!!!!!!!!!
u probly deserve it,jk haha
Learn to type, both of you.
The office must be destroyed.
Nice picture... BUT, if the cat in the box labeled "Dad" is supposed to be the dad, you should know that almost all calico cats are female- so the artwork doesn't really work. Just thought you should know.
It works just fine. There are male calico cats out there. Very rare but they indeed exist.
About one in every 3,000 calico cats is male. The genes that control whether or not a cat is calico are on the X chromosome and there must be two X chromosomes for the genes to be expressed, therefore the calico males usually have Klinefelter's Syndrome which causes a XXY chromosome structure.
Male calicos are usually sterile.
The extra sex chromosome that enables male cats to have the calico or tortoiseshell pattern also renders them sterile, so it still doesn't work.
Maybe it's a step-dad kitty?
There have been cases of klinefelter's syndrome where they were not sterile, but it is very rare. So this scenario, although not plausible, is possible.
Does it really matter?
It's a picture based on an FML, not scientific research.
This has got to be one of the most hilarious debate/discussions I've seen on an FML recently...
You all win.
(And clearly the mommy cat was having an affair, so she and the daddy cat got divorced and now the daddy cat bought his own set of boxes and didn't give his middle child one because she knows the truth.)
That is the first thing I thought when I saw this...
I'm pretty sure all male calicos are either going to be sterile or hermaphroditic.
But it doesn't matter, because it's still just a picture lol
The big bro is also a calico. That would make the family even more rare, or possibly point to another cause than just the presence of XXY chromosomes. Also, another alternative to kitty-klinefelter's is the possibility that the male calicos (sp?) are chimeras or experience mosaicism.
That being said, it is a rather creative and visually appealing cartoon. One of the better illustrateds, IMO.
Haha awesome picture.
Sucks to be you thougth eh?
OMG ;O; THIS ILLUSTRATION IS SO CUTE AND SAD.
How can you not love it. It has kitties!!
that sucks. In my family I'm not special. I have two sisters and 1 brother. 1 sister is the oldest another 1 is the youngest and my brother is the only boy . So I'm not that special but might as well get used to it cuz that's how it's gonna be foreva.
Does that mean you plan to live with your parents forever? o_o;
lol that picture is sooooooo cute
poor kitty
tinykittenteeth owns and fuck any of y'all who might be detractors of it. if you don't like it you must hate All Good Things.
Lol! That's cute.

Awww, that's fucking adorable art. :)
huh. male calicos have kleinfelters. who knew that you could actually learn something from debates in the bowels of the intarwebs.
love the illustration. :)
that illustration is adorably sad
I'm the youngest. And I'm a girl, Daddy's little princess XD The only bad part is hammy-downs. I have an older brother (first born) and an older sister (middle child). She hardly got any hammy-downs because well, why would she want boy clothes? I however did. But the good part is when everyone else moves out you finally get your own room and some extras.
They're called "hand-me-downs" because they're handed down to you by older family members or friends.. I'm not sure if you knew what they're actually called or not, so I thought I'd throw that out there.
welcome to hell. im familiar with it.
OMG this picture made me sad. My dad is the same way. My dad remarried and completely forgot about me. My half brothers and step siblings all have his last name except for me, he was gonna change it after my mom left but then when he got married he decided to adopt my step siblings and forgot about me, they didn't even go to my high school graduation because taking my step sister out to dinner for eighth grade promotion was more important. But, I have been out of his home for 2 and a half years, paying my own way through college and am never going back there again....believe me it makes you stronger.
Stop complaining Harry Potter, the cupboard under the stairs is easier to clean.
I'm the oldest in my family and I found that I'm the one who always gets the shit end of the stick when it comes to matters dealing with my mom. I got shipped off to the moldy, smelly basement so my sister could get the bigger room, which just happened to be mine. It sucks getting the shit end of the deal, but at least I get to leave the house first and she has to stay behind and have all their hopes and dreams put on her.
I totaly understand. I'm the youngest out of five kids. Two brothers and two sisters. Originaly it was just me and my half-sister, but then he remarried and i got three new siblings. When he and his new wife moved into a house the plan was my brother get their own room, my oldest sister renovate the basement and my half-sister and I share a bedroom when we come to visit on the weekends. It turned into my brother having their own rooms, my sisters sharing a room, my dad and step-mom sharing a bedroom, and me on the couch. They then got me a futon so that I could sleep on a "real" bed, but then my Dad would alwats get into fights with my step-mom, and end up sleeping on my "bed". Yongest kids sontimes get off just as bed as middle children. :(
The picture made me sad.
I agree with the people who keep saying the middle child is ignored.
My parents have 4 kids, but the younger two are twins, so technically, I'm talking age when I say middle child. My little brother and sister were born on my 3rd birthday (Literally ON my 3rd birthday, as in we all share the same day.) so when our birthday comes around, they have birthday parties, while I get a happy birthday, some presents, and its over. Even when the 'big' birthdays came around (10 for going into double digits, and this year my sweet 16.) I was swept to the side. And my older sister was their first baby, so OF COURSE they have to make sure she's always doing fine and her life is in order.
But, on the other hand, being the middle child does have its benefits. For example, because I haven't been babied to the point where I think rules don't apply to me, I have NEVER even gotten a refferal in school. My siblings have all either gotten ISD (In school detention) or they've been suspended.
I don't agree, however, with the people who say the middle child becomes more social because they are seeking attention from people outside the family. I am the shyest and quietest person you may ever meet, while my siblings are social butterflies.
I know this may sound a bit shallow, but I believe that middle children tend to be more successful in life. I mean, I'm a great student, I'm multi-talented (singing, dancing, acting, writing....etc.), and I think I'm EXTREMELY intelligent. Like, MENSA smart.
The comic made me sad. D:

I agree, and also disagree.
I am also the middle child (older brother and younger sister).
I have the best marks out of all of them, I have never have gotten a detention, and am really talented. (sports, music, art etc...)
But I'm not really ignored in my family. I actually get most of the attention, because of my abilities.
and that sucks about your birthdays. :( just go out and have fun with friends. :)
I created an fml account to respond to this :)
I am a middle child as well (older fail bro and younger sis that i completely love) and have to say that it really has helped me to be a stronger person. Neglect from parents/relatives because you are never the first one to do anything or the last has made me just do my own thing. For my bro's 18th, he got a big party and all that; for mine no one planned anything so I just went out drinking with friends. I have revenge though; now my bro is going to a worthless college and I'm an OSU Buckeye and he can suck it. Just do your own thing as a middle child and do your best to get ahead in life and you'll do fine. :)
That really sucks. Do you live with your Dad, or just stay with him sometimes?
I remember I used to spend three nights at my Uncle's house every nine days, because my Dad worked nights. One night I arrived to find out there was only one bed in the room my brother and i shared. Apparently, one of his other nieces has asked if she could have it for her guest room. So I was forced to sleep on the floor until my brother and i were old enough to stay home alone.
middle childs are very mistreated.
middle childs? learn to speak.
did anyone think that maybe none of them live with the dad? that all three visit and she has no room when they do. I mean, nobody knows the circumstances. but it seems to be the one left out option.
This is an amazing illustration.
especially since its hand painted not just something they did on the computer
wow nice use of colors.
YDI for bitching about it to us
gotta love the cats but that really sucks
Nice looking pic but the picture's wrong . Tri coloured cats are either female or sterile, how come daddy-cat's a Calico D=> ?!
I already made this point (#116). I'm glad someone else realized this, too! :)
Ahh true enough, I'm glad someone else noticed too :D. Long thread so I hadn't read through it all. Glad you mentioned your post tho, reading the replies was totally worthwhile.
