Today, I was at my only sister's wedding. She gave a speech about the person who means the most to her. She said, "She is my favorite sister who has always been there for me." Being her only sister, I got up to hug her. Turns out she was talking about her slutty sorority sister. Not me. FML

FMLs like this always confuse me. If you and your sister are that close, then she would thank you. And by the same token, as you are sisters, shouldnt you know that you arent that close? And that she feels super close to her sorority sisters? I just find it amazing that this sort of thing "shocks" you.
Me and my sister weren't very close at the time of her wedding and she asked me to be her maid of honor. . At the time I thought it meant she really did feel close to me if she asked me.
Turns out I was wrong. I would have done the same thing at the OP's situation. I would have thought she meant me.
Turns out she asked me because it was the 'proper' thing to do.
And this is a problem because... ??? Aren't we all a lot closer to our friends than to our siblings?

Well, listen, and listen carefully. You might have noticed that every FML begins with 'Today..'. Obviously they didn't all happen TODAY, not only because it may take some time for the FML being published, but also because you have to start an FML with 'Today..' and if you would take that literally we would miss out on numerous FML's.

Her sister isn't a bitch! Who says just because you have the same mother, you HAVE to be close? Many siblings I know aren't that close, and they're okay with that. Also, who says slutty people can't be reliable and always there for a person? My friend is sleeps around with a lot of guys, but she's always there for me when I need her. Just because the OP isn't close with her sister doesn't automatically mean the OP's sister is a bitch. Maybe the OP thinks she's close with her sister, but her sister doesn't think so.

Maybe if you were so catty towards her "slutty sorority sister" you might be closer with her. This could be a wake up call to be more involved in your sister's life. If you are very close with your sister then talk to her and find out why she doesnt feel so close to you.
At the end of the day though, you shouldnt need verbal validation from your sister though...you should know that you are sisters for life and will always be there no matter what. Its not about getting recognition on HER wedding day.
Obviously you and your sister don't relate well to each other and aren't close if you consider the people she is close to to be slutty. Did you have some reason to think that you earned special mention at her wedding? Doesn't sound like it. It's not your sister's fault that you and her aren't on the same page about your relationship.

People are assuming the issue here is that she is closer to her sorority sister than her actual sister.
She could be close to both, if she had said, "My best friend" instead of "my favourite sister" it wouldn't be an issue at all.
The story here is that her sister thought she was speaking about her and got up to hug her, when she wasn't talking about her at all, leading to embarrassment and awkwardness for all involved.
I don't think it was unreasonable of her to think she was talking about her. It was a misunderstanding and the bride should've thought about her wording more.

Being that it was your sisters wedding, she has every right to give credit to whomever she pleases. She didn't say that she didn't like you, or value you as a sibling. She said that her favorite sister from the sorority was that girl. They are obviously very close and have been through a lot together, so don't take it so personally. I'm sure she didn't mean it offensively.

Does anyone else find it odd that the bride was giving a speech at her own wedding? Usually the attendants or family members give speeches about how great the couple is, wishing them well, etc... I think it's a little weird that the bride was giving a speech about how great her friend is.
OP: IF this is true - your sister is kind of a bitch, but there's no point in whining about it.
