He's just a stranger ....
Shit that must have hurt!!! Some people are just way too straightforward!
Well that's mean

That IS an extremely bizarre thing to say to someone you've just met though. Like, unless he was giving you tons of signs that he was interested in you, I don't know why exactly you would say something like that. Still, it doesn't merit being a douche...
she didn't say anything out of the ordinary, she was just thinking out loud. i mean, i wouldn't think it's bizarre for someone to ask me that. :\
maybe he was also thinking out loud
I kinda understand, I hate it when random strangers talk to me on train. Still, it doesn't justify being a jerk.

He probably gave you a lot of signs that he wasn't interested and that you were annoying him by talking so much, but you missed them. Just pay more attention to people's reactions next time. Non-verbal communication is important in human contact.
#7 makes a good point.

agreed.
ydi for being annoying lol
agree. Women complain about guys not getting subtle hints, but really, I find that it's women that don't get them
ugh stop with the "women do this/that wrong" guys do the same thing. guys can be soo annoying without realizing it. it goes both ways
What a jerk! Good to know before you wasted any more time.
It kind of sounded like you were talking to the airplane with the way you phrased the sentence. =P
Fyl though for sitting with a big jerk.
Like #11 said, watch your modifiers. Maybe that's why the cute guy hoped somebody sat between you. Because you're a crazy person who talks to the airplane.
Yes but the plane replied.
I dont see why you care. Stop caring what strangers think. You'll feel better ;)
I doubt a stranger said that if he was about to sit two seats over the whole flight.. Why would he make it that awkward
in the hopes of her shutting up, probably
Yeah, I hate it when some random person feels the need to ramble on the entire flight. I've only ever once had someone interesting next to me on a plane.
Then the OP finds a dime!
You sure he wasn't joking around? Although it's weird to do that to someone you have just met, a lot of people think it's the best way to connect with people.

I like that the op feels the need to clarify that she asked "out loud." What other way is there to ask?
who knows, maybe the guy can read minds xD
FYL you must be really ugly!!!
well that sucks.
#20 thats mean u dont know that.
what are the chances of you two seeing again?
May not have meant it in a mean way... may have just been looking for something to respond with and the wrong thing came out of his mouth. Everyone speaks without thinking sometimes and occasionally it comes off as rude even if it isn't meant to be that way.
Even if he was being a jerk, I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Ydi. You completely set yourself up for that so what did you expect?
Judging by your nickname, maybe he thought you were nutty?
I don't like it when people talk to me on public transportation of any kind, so I get what he's saying.
at #14- because awkwardness is hilarious.
Most people don't like talking to strangers, especially on planes, trains or long bus trips.
I dont like talking to people on airplanes... It makes me be more alert. I like to be in as close to a coma state to control anxiety

he was probably scared of planes and had no intention of talking...
How come so many people voted YDI on this one??
That guy is awsome. Nothin better then brutal honesty.
probably because OP deserved it?

Usually I'd prefer to either talk to a friend or keep to myself before the company of a stranger. Atleast he didn't lead you on. This is more of a: "oh my god my life's normal" than an FML.

way to have no social skills, guy
maybe he wanted more company
Hahaha! GOT 'ER!

Ha it's kind of weird that you said that, but the other guy was just letting you know he wasn't interested. Granted, he did it in a not so nice way, so FYL.

I truely cant see how this is a FYL or YDI. Who cares what some random that you most likely never see again says or thinks?
Ever thought he picked up on you flirting with him and maybe he had a gf? Didnt want to lead you on. Maybe a jerk move, but just say you two did talk that whole time, then he said "oh by the way, I like you to meet my gf". I think you be more pissed.
at least hes honest. id rather that than some girl (being male) leading me on all flight just to be polite. it might make you feel a bit bad but its better for all concerned if an uninterested party simply and clearly states their lack of interest at the start of communication
Yeah, I don't like chatty strangers on airplanes either. I just want to read my book, maybe have a nap, and think about what I'm going to do when I get to my destination.
maybe he didnt mean it like that. maybe he just didnt want to sit next to an empty seat and it just came out wrong.
Well, that was jerky of him. Had you been talking to him before that? Normally, even assholes like to have the middle seat empty for extra elbow room, so it sounds like either you were annoying him, or he's a jerk and found you really unattractive.
I'm sorry, but I understand the guy. There's nothing worse than going on a plane, bus or whatever and having an unknown person talking to you like you actually cared. Maybe you should actually think before you speak, if you're going to annoy that person or if he looks like he wants to talk to you at all.

gahh what an asshole. he probably just didn't want to talk to a stranger, but i hope you got sick and barfed all over him.
then we can rate his fml as ydi
ydi for obviously being annoying.
i'm interested to know a little about the flight, in terms of where it was leaving from/going to.
based off my flight experience it seems that southern region flights you see more of the talking, where as northern region you get the people who dont want to talk.
i enjoy being able to talk to a person about whatever as it has a good chance of being a very interesting conversation and fantastic way of killing time and then never seeing the person again
Maybe he just has a thing for fat people
I think the fact that you said something, he expected you'd annoy him the whole time or something. Like he wanted peace or maybe he was having a bad day. I don't see why you should feel offended by something a complete stranger said. They don't even know you so why should their words matter?
Perhaps he was thinking along the lines of "the more the merrier"; he was enjoying talking with you so he thought it'd be great to have yet another person to share the fun?
