Wow that really sucks, just your luck i guess. i feel sorry for you though
Soooooo... Is he gonna represent you?
Riveting story. Tell it again!
You're guilty anyway, no use fighting it. The car that does the rear-ending is always considered guilty of tailgating.
Hahaha, that's awful.

Yeah, I'd have to agree - your life IS fucked. That is probably the worst person to get into a wreck with. Hopefully he will take pity on you and not take every cent you have.

So what? If no one was hurt, it's not like you're gonna get sued. Your insurance will pay for the damages, you'll pay for your ticket, life goes on.
um, befriend him?
IDK what to say
Why is him being an attorney an FML? I don't get it. Can someone explain..?
You better be happy he's an attorney, and thus has an actual job that takes up his time, and isn't some lazy lowlife who sees getting into a minor car crash as a way to get on disability and sue you for the money he needs to buy some new rims.
I agree with #16.
However, all that matters is if he's a good attorney. I believe like 80% of attorneys are the traffic/DUI/DWI/Divorce specialty.
If that's the case, you have nothing to worry about. Your insurance company's attorneys are likely all top 10 educated and could dominate the guy if he thought his law degree meant something.
Just be happy he's not an annoying tard who "went to the hospital" cause his neck hurt.
Yesterday I bumped into the back of a van that stopped in the middle of the road at a green light. While I was exchanging information with her, she thanked me because I was, "much more cooperative than all of the other people that have rear-ended her." Apparently, that happens to her a lot.
YDI for rear-ending her.
You can't rear-end someone without tailgating, get better brakes or faster reactings and keep distances.
This is not a FML, this is a YDI because you rear-ended him. It is your fault. You should have been paying better attention to driving. It has nothing to do with him being an attorney, it has to do with you being a bad driver.
No big deal unless you were planning on screwing him in some way.
It's not that big of a deal.
YDI for rear ending. It is your fault and there is no way of getting out of paying.
It was your fault after all. Unless he tried to feign injury, this doesn't really make things that much worse for you.
Though luck, better hope he's nice and understanding or lying about his profession.
Otherwise, you might want to try to play all those Phoenix Wright games...
Attorneys suck. They will sue you for everything.
At least it wasn't a cop?
I backed into a lawyer's car, he was super cool about it, and my insurance covered everything. Since the police were there, he can't do anything since it will be in the police report whether he was injured or not. You should be fine. Just tell you insurance company and they will take care of it.

Okay all the people who think rear-ending someone is automatically reason to call the OP a bad driver are obviously really new drivers or have never driven before at all.
People are DUMB. They stop for the stupidest reasons ever and if you're in traffic you aren't keeping 2 car distances between you. Or they cut you off and cause you to rear end them. That's actually a pretty common scam to get money.
A rear-end should NOT always be the persons fault.
Well, unfortunately it wouldn't matter if he was an attorney or not because in the eyes of the law, it is already your fault.
That's ironic though?
Simple! Hire him to defend you.......... against him. hahahaha!!!
32 - being in traffic is the number one reason why you should always keep multiple car distances between you. Anyone who isn't dumb, and has driven a car before, knows that

There is a scam involved where you can rear end someone and have it not be your fault. However it takes 2-4 other cars involved to create the scene, but a good driver can notice whats happening and can take steps to prevent it - IE slowing down and not speeding up when the tailgating car approaches. Then if the scammers don't back off, its the scammers who rear-end you, not you rear-ending the target car

Don't feel bad - I once hit an attorney specializing in accident related injury. He was also driving a $130k mercedes convertible.
But nothing happened other than normal accident stuff.
I always get so amused when people get so worked up over FML's.
ohhhh dude you are FUCKED!!!!
You rear-ended him, it was your fault. Nobody deserves to pay for an accident that wasn't their fault, so you shouldn't fight him and try to get away with it, jerk.
Also, he can't feel THAT much vengeance towards you if he was willing to make small talk with you, so why worry so much?

In a sense you will be hiring him. Only... You pay up and he does nothing for you.
I would just like to interject and say that a rear-ending is not always atrributable to tail-gating, making it the second driver's fault. For all we know, the lawyer could have changed lanes and cut him off without leaving enough space for him to stop--since, you know, cars don't stop instantaneously. We don't know enough about the accident to say it was the OP's fault.
36 - you must not spend a whole lot of time in traffic. Good luck keeping multiple car distances away from the car in front of you without multiple cars pulling in ahead of you. It never happens. Anyone who has driven in traffic before knows that.
I don't give a shit. I hope you lose your license because you can't drive.
#37 - he's an attorney, I highly doubt he's going to swoop-and-squat.
Oh noooooo!!!! now you can't blame it on him!!!! FYL!!!!!!
who cares? were you planning on denying it?
SO WHAT?? you just said you were the one that rear-ended him, moreover if he's an attorney he probably isn't going to be involved at all since the police will likely just give you a ticket and something like this is pretty standard for any insurance company so that the janitor could do it in his sleep so stop being such a moron and grow a pair I'm tired of everyone on this site whining
How are there not more you deserve it's for this one? He hit the car...
Small talk? Sounds like a fender bender. Too bad the attorney probably can't see the reality of this situation through the dollar signs in his eyes. You're probably screwed...too bad you had to be the first person to ever rear-end an attorney. Who knows what will happen to your dumb ass.
I rear-ended an attorney once going about 1mph, barely touching his bumper. My insurance appeased him by paying for an alignment and then raising my premium for the next few years, recovering their payout many times over.
Ouch #61. You should have made this into an FML.
Most of the FMLs haven't happened "Today" anyway.

You're the one who rear-ended him...? You're guilty either way so the whole lawyer bit doesn't make it any worse.....
#55 - On 06/01/2009 at 7:43pm by LadyinaBlueDress
I don't get it? Sounds like it could be anobody and your guilty.
#5- I'm sure if you rear-ended someone because they decelerated to 10 mph on the highway in the span of a few seconds and you had on time to stop, that it would be considered their fault. Not that that would ever happen...
Awww, sorry dude! i feel your pain! i was in an accident with an off duty cop!

wow there are only a few attorneys in the world what are the odds and what he's like a tax lawyer he could have absolutely no idea about traffic law
