HAHAHAHA. Oh mannn that's horrible...I don't think you deserve it though...thats a horrible coincidence.
Wow. That would be horrible. But im glad you shared, made my day. THANKS
Sounds like the kind of faux pas I would make...

maybe they thought you were calling him a simpson?
lol u made me laugh so much
nothings better than good old fashoined racism XD
i can totaly see that happening
Wouldn't they ALL be wearing yellow shirts if it was a soccer game and the kid was on a team? So how could you distinguish one of them by saying "yellow kid?"
#5 - On 05/17/2009 at 2:11pm by Vaughanabe13
1. Maybe it wasn't a real game, just a scrimmage between little kids, and no need for uniforms. Or uniforms are too expensive to spring for in this economy?
2. And to other posters who say "why didn't he know his own team members' names?!?!"
FYI; THE OP WAS TALKING TO THE OTHER TEAM.[/capsrape]
Orginal Poster: FYL
Even if the whole team was wearing yellow, it was probably pretty obvious who to cover, if there was only one wide open person from the opposite team who was close to the kid she was yelling at.
hahahahah thats horrible. But they shouldn't be so sensitve..... or they shouldn't put him in yellow shirts.
My coach did that last season!
We laughed the entire game...
I'm with 5. Unless this kid was unusually small, that would have been unhelpful.
Pretty funny though. :D
LOL I'm Asian and I thought this was hilarious! Just apologize afterward and explain what happened. Don't apologize and bow. I'll stab you in the face with a rusty spork for that!
#9 - On 05/17/2009 at 2:20pm by xieh
LMAOLMAO. HAHA. That's funny. xD I'm asian too. :) But it should be fine, just explain to them what you were trying to mean. Haha. It should be fine.
HAHAHAHA hilarious!!!! but you couldve said the # of the shirt that the kid was wearing.. cuz wouldnt all the kids on tht team be wearing yellow?
You should learn your kids names pronto!
#12 - On 05/17/2009 at 2:23pm by sunshyne84
If it's only coaching, I'm guessing it wouldn't've been like, a proper game? So the kids would just be wearing whatever clothes they want. It's stupid, can't even say colours these days without people playing the racism card. If I was playing soccer (I wouldn't...I'm a girl who hates sports!) and I was wearing a white shirt, and someone was told to cover the "white" girl...(I'm white/british)...I wouldn't think anything of it. But when it's another race, they play the racism card. It was a yellow t-shirt, and if the kid didn't know the other kids name, how else were they to know who to cover?! It was just a description of their clothes, maybe worded a little weird.
FYL
I wonder what those parents would think if the referee gave him a yellow card.
If you're the kids coach you should probably learn their names. YDI.
It's not your fault the other kid's team picked a crappy color. They should know better.
/sarcasm
That being said, who really cares? You'll probably never see that family again, or if you do, you probably won't speak to them.
Well, you didn't mean it right? And you didn't know? So it's okay
I agree with Purple5. People are waaaay too over reactive to that kind of thing. If he just so happened to be wearing a yellow shirt, that's just coincidence. They took it way too seriously. xD
Kinda sucks though. Hopefully someone had a sense of humor there!
HAHA THATS FUNNY BUT HEY ITS NOT YOUR FAULT I MAEN WHO CARES BOUT HIS FAMILY HAHA U KNOW WAT U MENT THAT COUNTS....HAHA BUT IF I WAS U I'D BE LMFAO THE WHOLE TIME AFTER I SAID THAT..LOL
#19 - On 05/17/2009 at 2:46pm by hustler123
# 13, go to hell. Not every other race is quick to play the racism card. I'd tell you that was a racist statement (which it was) but I don't want you thinking I'm pulling the card (which I'm not). So I'll just say that was an IGNORANT statement, and that I thought Britons knew better... smh.
MOVING ON....
Hilarity. Pure hilarity! Like everyone else is saying, just tell the parents what you meant, they'll get over it...
I don't get how people can get pissed over adjectives. If your skin's white, it's white. If it's black, it's black. If it's yellow, it's yellow. It's just skin, nothing more. Why do people have to make such a big deal?
obviously people on here aren't reading the whole fml. he said that he was telling one of his players to cover another player on the other team. therefore, he wouldnt know any of the other team players' names. read the dang fml..he knows his kids' names, just not names from the other teams you tards.
#20, the writer isn't generalising, it's a simple fact that in this politically correct society you can get away with things against whites that just aren't acceptable when said to anyone of another race. This is mostly the fault of our government, our courts and our media though. So yeah.
Also, #15, in the middle of a football game you don't stop to remember someone's name, even if you've known them for years, you just scream a visual identifier of some sort.
it might have helped if you said "yellow kid" instead of "little yellow kid"
LOLS, but FYL.
bahahahaha that's great
sucks for you though
yeeeeeeaaaaaaah everyone is annoying.
I got a good laugh out of this fml heeeeeehe.
hahaha, oops xD
I hope the parents gave you a chance to explain. Please learn the names of all the members of your team though lol, it would make it easier to avoid future slip-ups like this.
yea, I don't know about everyone else here, but all of our little league teams have team colors, where the whole team wears the same thing to all the official games, which is what this FML seems to be describing, so how does yelling "cover the yellow kid" seem to indicate a specific player if they're all wearing the same yellow shirt? YDI if that is the case because that was really stupid on your part, also sounds kinda fake if that's case.
haha i spelled mean wrong sorry that ones my bad
#29 - On 05/17/2009 at 3:13pm by hustler123
hahahaaaa i think this is the best one on this sitee!
but really, it isnt a big deal, just explain to the family that you were referring to the jersey color!
its nbd
Wow, i totally forgot that Yellow = Asian
whatever, people are so PC these days. Why would a soccer coach be screaming racist remarks when people all around could hear him? Especially to a little kid! I mean really.
i don't understand why you would say that. the whole team is wearing yellow uniforms... you're supposed to say the kids number.
yeah, probably fake. They'd all be wearing yellow shirts if they were on a soccer team. Deserved that one for sure.
Maybe should have said kid in yellow rather than yellow kid, but surely the parents knew he was wearing a yellow t shirt...
I agree "little" was the bad word here.
He might have been coaching a practice game between members of his team to develop skills before a big game, he didn't say it was a game against another team.
Should've used your words carefully, like "kid with the yellow shirt.
but damn man FYL
haha thats fucking hilarious, i don't see how this is a FML whats wrong with some racy humour once in a while
why would you say "that yellow kid" ? arn't they all supposed to be wearing the same jersey?
I'm Asian and this reminds me of the time my hip-hop instructor called me a "white boy".
wait what am i missing here? i dont see how yellow relates to asains
#43 - On 05/17/2009 at 3:43pm by tominator
I long for the day when otherwise innocent words don't double as insults.
#13 - since white people have long been the majority in america, and have suppressed minorities like blacks and asians and hispanics in the past, other races tend to be sensitive about these issues more so than white people just because of history.
now that is just bad luck
I agree with #5.. if you were coaching a game then everyone on the other team would have all been wearing yellow jerseys, so it wouldn't make sense to call one of them yellow
LOL FYL, but that is too funny. :P I agree with #50
lmao .
thats funny .
i'm dating an asian .
and he said
"idc about those things,
i'm asain."
Ahahaha, racism. Awesome, sir.
#53 - On 05/17/2009 at 4:40pm by thelonelylurker
my soccer team a few years ago also had yellow jerseys...that never happened to me before
Personally, I think that was mentally subliminal - you undercover racist!
This comment has been moderated.
Don't worry about it, people think the best way to prove they're not racist is to accuse others of racism. Anybody there would probably have known what you meant. It's just so easy for them to take it the wrong way, though. FYL.
This is to # 20 Why the hell would you tell someone "go to hell" just for having an opinion? That's a little intolerant, don't you think? And besides, I happen to agree with her. It's totally unfair that you can acceptably critisize, mock, and call Caucasian people "white boy" or girl, or something else ( when they're adults lol ) when doing so to any other race would earn you the title of racist. Everone needs to either get totally ok with people of other races demeaning them or calling them names based on their colour ( even as a joke ) or (gasp) everyone just needs to call people by their names.
LOL 56 ftw!!!!!
yeah the sun was just probably in their "eyes" or what ever u wanna call them
Fuckin idiot. YDI.
#60 - On 05/17/2009 at 5:44pm by Trippin
lmao that's pretty epic. fyl indeed i've done something like this at least 3 times in the mast month.. unintentionally of course
Rather be yellow than... GREEN!
Sorry.
=/
It would be so much easier if everyone understood that we are all the same species.
Should of just called the other players by their shirt colors.
#59 ,
Whaat the hell ?
Arre Yoou sayiing that asians dont have eyes ?
'in their "eyes" or what ever u wanna call them'
Wtfff ?
Anywhoo ;
YDI . Yoou should've saiid the numbeer on his jerseey,
besiddess if this was real, they'd all be wearing the same colour jersey stupiid .
Bahaha. This could've been worded a LITTLE better to emphasize the comical part better, but damn, it made me chuckle a bit. Go cover the little yellow kid!! Heh.
@ #65 Obviously they WEREN'T wearing all the same color, "stupiid"
Hahah... can't even spell stupid correctly, and you're calling the OP stupid. When CLEARLY he wouldn't have referenced the color of his shirt if the whole team was wearing that color. Good job, though!
In little kid leagues, it isn't uncommon for them to let someone play who has forgotten his uniform - or doesn't even have one. For example, a kid on my t-ball team never bought the shirt because he wasn't going to be there for all of the games
I think that some of the people posting comments on this one don't get it, like #3 and #24...
It's ridiculous for them to assume that you were talking about his skin rather than his shirt.
#15 is an idiot...becasue if you're telling someone to cover "the yellow kid" then you're telling oneof your players to block the kid on the other team from being open
>.> Political Correctness FTL
#23 and #58 - I agree, unfortunately in today's society we can say things or make jokes about white people that we can't with other races. Then again, in cases of racial oppression (that involve the Western world), white people have generally been the oppressors throughout most of history. So you'll forgive us if our sympathy is limited.
If his parents have such a complex about it, they probably should ban him from wearing yellow. It's just a colour, and you were trying to describe him in a quick way.
I don't see why people should find things like that offensive, we have to be so careful about what we say when it shouldn't matter. If I was in that situation, I wouldn't be offended at all.
thats what you get when you mess with the WARRIOR
#20 - just read what you said, you can't seriously say "I thought Britons knew better", as if that one girl has actually spoken for all 60+ million of us. Anyway, it's unfair to shoot her down for having an opinion, she is just expressing what she thinks some people do. Maybe she worded it in a way that you took offence to, but she was just generalising.
People are far too sensitive. They always assume it's a racist comment.
i bet the whole family squinted their eyes at you, that could get awkward.
it's not that big of a deal. so the parents overreacted & took it the wrong way. it's not like you'll ever see them again.
for the people saying he should know his name, if he's telling one of his own players to cover someone else, wouldn't that mean they were on the other team?
LOL! That made my day.
#81 - On 05/17/2009 at 9:12pm by Stephai
yikes
wait wouldn't their whole team be wearing yellow? not just the "yellow kid"
#82 - On 05/17/2009 at 9:39pm by omar
To everyone who says that the kids would have been wearing the same (yellow) color shirt:
When I played soccer as a child, before we got our uniforms, we would wear these brightly colored netted jerseys over our own clothes. Because of the netting, the T-shirt color underneath was still visible. There are many other reasons why the kids might have been wearing their own clothing instead of uniforms.
OP, that's incredibly awkward. Hopefully you don't run into those parents again. FYL.
I'm not sure if others have already made these points, but I'm too lazy to check so here they are anyway:
a) Don't teams usually have uniforms, so they can be uh, uniform? So that they all look alike and you don't have two kids wearing the same colour shirt on different teams? For that reason alone that makes this questionable because otherwise it would be havoc on the playing field. And yes, sometimes little leagues bend the rules so kids can wear their own shirts, but the kids are almost always told (in my experience at least) to match the team and wear the same colour, so they don't create problems with kicking/passing/tagging.
b) Why would you say "the yellow kid" instead of "the kid in yellow". The wording is just weird, and seems unrealistic, if you were referring to his uniform. Either way it could just be my country/region, as language varies greatly but it still just sounds weird.
embarrassing

I had no clue Bart was an Asain.
This comment has been moderated.
Haha, my girlfriend is asian, we make fun of her all the time! (Whole family, see, she's adopted)
As long as you don't go too far, racial humor is hilarious.
FYL, I coach youth soccer too, we wear blue and yellow jerseys too. I think minorities need to calm down. Seriously they couldn't understand that the kid didn't have a number for you to point him out by but he was wearing a yellow shirt? I heard this one black family around my neighborhood (Naperville, it's around Chicago) getting all up in arms because a white woman called a black kid a little monkey. Well, the kid was swinging from a tree.
Was his family ninjas?
I'd be afraid if I were you. You'll never see them coming.
You obviously need help with your coaching skills. If the entire other team is wearing yellow jerseys, why would you tell your player to "cover the little yellow kid"? That refers to the entire other team... doesn't it?
From one youth coach to another, here is a simple but effective way to refer to players on the field: use the numbers on their jerseys. "Cover number 6" works much better than "cover the kid in the yellow jersey." (the side benefit is that nobody on the other side will mis-interpret what you mean).
Now you might think "but there are two number 6's on the field! One from my team and one from the other team." I'm sure your player can figure out which of those two he is supposed to cover.
Practice this helpful coaching tip, and good luck with your next game.
Ahahaha that's awesome. Gj dude.
obviously people aren't understanding how informal kids sports can be
it is perfectly reasonable to think that they could be wearing different colored shirts
#93 a lot of park districts around where I'm from don't have numbers. We have blue and yellow jerseys. I just say stick to a yellow jersey.
Haha that's awesome. I would have laughed so hard I peed my pants.
HAHAHA, ah man.
that's happened to the best of us.
-FrayedxD
Don't stress it. I tell people "I'm married to a yellow monkey" all the time. I get death stares, but it's okay-- I make fun of everybody equally, so it doesn't matter.
#99 - On 05/18/2009 at 1:55am by onigiriqueen
Pff they've never dealt with giving instructions to many people at the same time, and in a hurry too. Forget about them.
#100 - On 05/18/2009 at 2:12am by RaphX
I am sure you could have said it better, like maybe using the numbers on the jerseys?
oh wow , numbers on the jerseys next time
lmao "The Ring"

#21, i totally agree with you, but not everyone shares the same view. though our generation is closer to overcoming racism than the last was, we still live in a world where it is somewhat prevalent. Though I totally disagree with the concepts of racism, one cannot deny that it still exists.
Well, I'm Asian... and I used to run XC where all of our rival teams wore yellow singlets (we wore blue). So, myself, would yell "pass the yellow guy!" all the time. It was just easier... and in sports ppl are often referred to by the color of their jersey.
So I understand (being called "yellow" in reference to being Asian pisses me off too) but I hope they understand that well, its a sports game and you didn't mean it that way.
kayy guys i need to say something
to all of the people saying
"uhhhh they should all be wearing yellow shirts"
well they obviously were not! duh..
i doubt he is THAT stupid
and he might not have time to think about the number
or he might not have been able to see it
i hate when people get sensitive about their skin color
and i also hate [like ive seen up here alot] when people use "they" or "all of you"
when talking about a race...not everyone cares
im white and hispanic and couldn't care less if i hear a beaner or cracker joke
and this is just funnnyyy!!!!!! hahahahahaha
#118 - On 05/18/2009 at 5:47pm by shudder_glasses
#3, you idiot. LOL.
Yellow is a derogatory term for an Asian person.
But this is hilarious!
Classic! FYL though.
#21, yellow is a derogatory term for an Asian person, just like the N word.
ROFL this is just so funny.
I'm asian and I find this funny
LMAO
I hate it when I get into those awkward misunderstandings...
LMAO! OMG.
My favorite FML.
People are wayy too sensitive about racism! I mean come on they must've known it was an honest mistake.
Gah, that wouldn't have bothered me and I'm Asian. I mean, if you're going to make fun of us, then try something new like making your eyes seem smaller or doing crazy martial arts yells. *sigh*
The thing about things like this is that it's not really the comment or action itself, it's that the person doing it is such an asswipe about it.
Anyway, couldn't you have said "kid in the yellow (shirt)" or something? YDI for that then.
Awwwww that really sucks! I'd be mortified XD
LAWL 92 :))
i live in asia, this was the best FML of my life...
yea yea you "could have" said other things or made yourself more clear but its a understandable mistake its just fricken hillariouis
Ha yeah, cause when you're wearing a purple shirt I call you a purple kid.
dont they have numbers on their shirts? i think there was some racism in that...
Awesome!! made my day! 131 you are an idiot!
#132 - On 05/19/2009 at 1:05pm by didi666
You're a little bit racist.
Well, you're a little bit, too!
We're both a little bit racist...
Seriously, though, FYL.
That it total bull... if he was wearing a yellow shirt, then EVERYONE on his team would've been wearing a yellow shirt, so the only reason you would've said it would be because he was asian....
#134 - On 05/20/2009 at 10:47am by clucia
@13: Maybe because you are white. And Asians aren't really yellow.
Better choice of words would have been "the little kid **in yellow**"
this is so one of my favourites !! FYL... but still soo funny! :)
awww im sorry! hahah that was great.
HAHAHAHAHAHA well, people aren't always so sensitive, so I guess he should get used to it. You didn't mean anything by it though, so I don't think you are at fault.
I can just see their faces now all scrunched up and pissed with a scowl on their faces
zipperhead kid and family deserved it
#141 - On 06/05/2009 at 11:25am by chedda33
Ahaha that's freaking awesome. I'm Asian and I think that's hilarious.
That's funny. I'm Chinese, and I agree that you should just apologize and explain later.
I think it's kinda funny how they give you death stares.
Lol, well i my guess is the kids were wearing jerseys over shirts, so the yellow shirt was still visible.
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHA
hope you said cover the purple kid later on or any color besides skin colors
