Today, I got industrial toilet cleaner in my eyes. Despite the raging fire party going on behind my eyelids, I resisted the urge to stop, drop, and roll, and calmly got in the shower to wash it off. Wherein I promptly slipped, fell, and whacked my head full-force on the bathtub on the way down. FML

So naturally you got knocked unconscious, right? And why wouldn't you just wash your eyes, why would you have to climb in the shower? That seems like an unneeded hassle in a time like that.
I'm surprised you weren't knocked out since everyone else who's done something like this has been knocked out.
YDI for not being more careful with cleaner.
#20 - I agree that the shower would be not be a good idea in this case. Not because it's a hassle, but because the chemical would wash from your eyes all the way down your body which could cause irritation and chemical burns. It's best to just wash in the sink in these situations.
I would normally say a sink is better, but it's usually harder to get your whole face under one.
That sucks, but it sounds like something that would happen in a cartoon. XD

i expeirenced karma today.. i was talking to a guy and i accidently said something mean and then salsa shot up into my eye
#26: No. In labs they have emergency "showers" for this very reason. Well actually they have fountains that spray water into the eyes for the reason #21 stated, but seeing how this person was at home, the shower is probably the next best option. And I seriously doubt he got enough of it on him to cause damage to the rest of his skin in the shower. For one, it's diluted as soon as the water hits it. Second, if he got enough of it in his eyes to cause burns or irritation on his skin as it washes away, he'd probably be blind.
I'd like to know how you did it. I worked in a lab with Hydrochloric acid daily and as much as you try to follow safety rules, you'll still end up with burns. Half of the clothes I wore ended up with holes in them even though I wore a lab coat daily. Haha.
I feel your pain though. I had the tiniest bit of diluted HCl splash up into my eye (yes, I was wearing protective goggles) and it hurt like hell.
even if you stopped at "i got industrial cleaner in my eyes" it still would have been an fml. you seem kinda clumsy. and to #19-people like you are always ruining fmls for all of us. fake ones are more rare than you suspect, and skepticism ruins the spirit of the fun.
Something like this happened to me once. I feel your pain… and I commend you for not freaking out like I did, lol.

OW. I've gotten turpentine, paint thinner, paint itself (separate occasions unfortunately), wood stain, sawdust, and glue in my eye...but that sounds REALLY bad.

Owch... Seeing this one I had to comment on it... One thing I've learned is that if by chance you do get a certain chemical on your skin (or in this case your eyes, which sucks even more) it's always best to check the label before rinsing it with water (difficult as it's i your eyes lol)... I say this because some chemicals react quite nastily to being mixed with water... and the last thing one would want is your eyes being chemically burned or worse...
Anyway... Yeah... painful stuff... feel better...

I got gasoline in my eyes. the only damage to my left eye is a little blurieness. my parents don't know and I was screaming when it happened. they were downstairs and I was upstairs
