that's happened to my when playing hockey. I would get shoved out of the way and people would clap because it was a good move or they got a goal after shoving me out of the way. it's not fun. especially since i am a girl and i play on a all boys league.

You dumbarse when a player gets injured in sports and gets up ok, people clap because the you're ok.
if you were playing the crowd always claps after and injured player walks off or gets up...its the game
Crowds generally clap when an injured person stands up and/or signals that they're fine.
If you were still on the ground, then....ouch. in both ways. but maybe they were excited the person who hit you finally perfected their aim? xP

As a few other people pointed out, it's common to clap after a player is injured to give that player their support. I'm surprised you didn't already know that.

I wanted to be the one to point out that spectators clap at a sprting event when a downed player gets up to show respect for them and that they are happy they can resume play.

How did this get past the moderators? In every sport, even in professional sports, you clap after an injured player gets up.
This place really needs some reasonably intelligent mods. Lately... ugghhh.

im pretty sure the OP knows that people clap after an injured player gets up seeing as he/she plays soccer...and typically i think you would know if the spectators were clapping because they were glad you were okay...or if they were trying to be mean.

Umm...really. When someone gets injured at a soccer (or any other sporting event) it's considered good manners to clap as the person leaves the field. It's a sign of support.

Reasons they may have clapped:
1. It was a good play.
2. You were on the ground for quite some time and then got up.
3. YDedI.
Anyway, being kicked isn't really that big a deal. It hurts a bit for a minute, then you move on with your life.

Yea the clapping in soccer's not because they were cheering that you got hurt. It's sort of a respectable applause for you being a good sport and playing the game with all you got. It's more to cheer you up than to make fun of you, haha. I got kicked in the face too while headbutting a ball into the goal, one of my contact lens was pulled out onto the guy's sock, people clapped for me when i got up as well (well, i did make the goal but i thought i was going blind for a second there, haha).

33, some people live in america. here, football is the one with the guys in shoulder pads with the oblong ball (like a rugby ball, which is a gay sport) running down the field with the ball in their hands. if you came here and said football, that's what everyone would think of. and all you idiots who think he got a foot in the face, he probably got hit in the face with a ball that someone had kicked.
That happened to me once in a volleyball match. The only difference is that I saved the ball from going out of bounds with my face.
