To expand on #8s idea, in addition to taking them to small claims court, sue them for Reckless Endangerment. What as in that liquid? You probably don't know, but the simple fact is that there's a chance you could me allergic to it, some allergies are fatal and someone could literally die because of what they do. In addition to this, the liquid is likely a dye of some sort, getting dyes in a variety of places, such as your eyes is not healthy (depending on what exactly the dye is made of), with the fur part being the hood they'd obviously need to put this near such places risking permanent damage to you. The dyes could also cause temporary changes in your skin colouration, if this was the case, it could potentially effect something like a job interview. If you're going to take them to court over this, make a list of everything that has happened to you over this, be creative but reasonable... than tack on something to cover "Pain and Suffering" just to piss off those PETArds.

The fact of the matter is, people wont know it's fake. The fake fur will still support the idea that wearing fur is cool because it looks good. It's like joining an anti-smoking campaign, but walking around with a cigarette in your mouth because it looks cool. You aren't actually smoking it, but giving the appearance you are to look cool. You're still supporting the idea of it with a fake version by admitting it's something desirable. You might not intend for that to be the result, but it still happens.

PETA activists aside, people don't just walk down the street, see fur-looking clothing, and think "oh that must be real fur, they support the death of animals for fashion" most people wouldn't even think about it, so it's not really supporting the real industry. Spending money on real fur supports the industry. Spending money on faux-fur shows there is demand for the cruelty-free alternative.

And p.s. 56, the fact that one man is incapable of taking down a fully grown wildebeest doesn't mean that he was not "designed" (caveat: animals are not actually designed) to eat meat. We originally fit into an omnivorous ecological niche because we have the mental capacity to build tools that allow us to take down that wildebeest and then share it with our family and buddies. If you look at our dental structure, it doesn't really scream pure herbivory. Then again, nobody actually NEEDS to eat meat to survive, since all of the nutrients the body needs can be found elsewhere if one knows where to look.

Back at #59, our digestive system really isn't geared for meat consumption. If you were to make a table of herbivore digestive system and carnivore digestive system (starting with teeth, and going on through intestines, etc) then add a human column to it, you'll find the human ones match up to the herbivore ones. I actually have this table somewhere, just sadly can't find the book it's in.

If her jacket really was expensive, greater than $150, than it would have had to have been mislabeled or secondhand for her to believe it was faux fur as opposed to the dog or raccoon fur that is used as "faux fur" on cheap jackets

But yeah spraying red paint on fur coats is a pretty stupid idea. So now instead of passing down on antique coat the person has to go out and buy a NEW fur coat. Any of you PETA freaks out there - by all means promote vegetarian/veganism: we have good alternatives to meat. Ditto fur/leather - plenty of good synthetics/cotton/silk.

We don't have any good alternatives that work for testing medicines on animals (other than you stepping up to the plate and testing them for toxicity on yourself - computer modelling will never work, tissue culture doesn't work), so if you're stopping medical animal testing, you are responsible for potentially killing many people prematurely.

Funny, all the independent studies I have ever seen show the human being is omnivorous, and cannot subsist on a locally grown, all vegan diet for the vast majority of the world. You can manage an all vegan diet, but it requires supplements, and consumption of non-locally grown foods, or modern farming methods and imported crops -- something that a primitive person cannot do. I am a beef/corn/soybean producer. Your methods are extreme, animals are tasty, that's why we eat them. They look good, hince why we wear them. Speaking from a view point of actually being on the farm and seeing how animals are produced, they are in no way shape or form mistreated, and most are all killed humanily (which is weird because they aren't humans).

This is why you all are dumb: Your organization helped to pass a law banning the slaugher of horses in the US, horses that are old, sick to near death, or have a broken leg that need to be put down. Instead of being humanily put to death here, people are making a fortune off of horses by taking them to Mexico, where God knows what they are doing to the animals down there.

You should know, as a vegan, that a lot of "faux" fur actually contains REAL fur. That fur is usually dog, cat, or raccoon dog (who are often skinned alive) fur. You want to know something cool? Fur looks great, especially as an accent/lining/hem/whatever. Or rather, the look you get with fur and the things like it is great. You don't need fur to do this. You can achieve this with synthetic materials.

Yes. The look is okay. I've said it. Personally I don't care if it's real fur or not (I actually have a teddy bear with real fur), but the point is, if it had started out as merely a synthetic material it still would have looked great. However, it did not. It is unfortunate that you can't escape the mental image of puppy blood whenever you see faux fur, but that would be your problem (and that of those like you), not anyone else's.

And it has nothing to do with the look, it has to do with the fact that animals are killed to make that look when it can be achieved with other materials. If you truly believe that everybody thinks that the look of fur itself is wrong because it carries a message, you're a little bit ... tweaked ... in the head. Yes, it carries unfortunate implications if you care to see them, but the point is that faux fur is not trying to imitate dead puppies because they think it's cool but don't want blood on their hands. It's a style that doesn't require dead puppies to make; therefore, why do it?

It's like... you want to get from point A to point B, right? There are two ways to get there and one of them will hit a lot of people's moral buttons. Why put blood on your hands when you don't have to?

On the other hand, this can also be used to say real fur is better...why bother using expensive materials when you can just kill a few puppies?

In any case, OP, FYL. It's really quite terrible when a misunderstanding leads to a ruined item that was costly (whatever the cost may have been, in this case money). Especially an item like that. =P

Actually I know someone who did that after she and her friends got doused with paint and spit on. She was the only one in faux fur the rest weren't even wearing anything with fur or animal skin resemblance. They just got it for being associated with her apparently. She's not pro or anti fur she really has no stance on the subject. After it happened though they got so pissed off they bought a bunch of really cheap bulk hamburger and went back and pelted the PETA people with it. It was childish yes, but I won't say I didn't find it laughable.

#19 What the poster I assume you are replying to meant (You didn't give a number... newb) is that the "faux" fur she was wearing was still made of real fur. It was probably listed as, like, faux cheetah fur or just any fur in general. What "faux" means by definition is "not the original product". The faux fur here was not cheetah fur, but instead probably dog fur.

To the op: PeTA is a bunch of firebombing extremists. To me, their actions are no different than those of Felice Orsini (PeTA destroys research with bombs, he was trying to kill Napoleon III with bombs, but still) and they should all go and get raped by dolphins.
