The only kind of tattoo you should get that involves a persons name or face is either a family member (and by that I do not mean spouses) or someone who has died. That is it. There are no exceptions. If you dump her: Concidering how needy and crazy she is to get a tattoo like that, she will probly go on a shooting rampage or kill you after you dump her.
If you don't dump her: Your stuck with a girl you don't like forever or atleast until she dies.
1. Stick with the guts - dump her
2. Perhaps then she will learn not to jump the gun and tattoo your name on her body
3. Consider that she may have sensed you wanted to break up with her and chose to get the tattoo as an attempt to keep you.

I didn't read through the entire forum, so I might be repeating something someone else already said, but it seems like the girl got the tattoo as another way to claim possession over him. When someone is discribed as needy it usually means they're passive aggressive. She probabily figured out that he was going to break up with him and got the tattoo as a last ditch effort to force them to stay together. In her mind it shows him how devoted she is to him (aka needy) and also, gives she a way of guilting him into staying in the relationship, ("I tattooed my back for you!!")

The fact that she got your name tattooed on her doesn't make her psycho, unless you've been dating for like, a month and she got it done. I feel bad for her, but it was stupid of her to do something like that. She should have talked to you about it first. What's she going to do after you dump her? Place an ad in the personals? "Cute, single female looking for Mr. Right. Tall, funny, and your name must be (insert whatever name the idiot tattooed on herself)" People need to realize that tattoos are permanent, and what if she had fallen out of love with you later on? Twenty years from now, she'd be married to a different guy, with kids, and her kids would ask who in the world that name was. Stupid

you should NEVER get someones elses name on your skin as a surprise (I would be preaty freak out if my bf showed up with my name permanently scarred on his skin...and I'm an absolute sucker for tattoos!!)

First. You should be married if your going to do that.

the only time a tattoo about your relationship is ever alright is if you are married, have been for a long time, and know you're always going to be together. like my parents -- for their 26th anniversary, they both got 'rings' tattooed to their left ring fingers in place of their wedding rings. i think my mom mostly wanted it because for whatever reason, old ladies always hit on my dad (and some around 30-40) and he didn't wear his wedding ring much because he works in construction and he didn't want to lose it. but it's a really cool tattoo they both got, it's the symbol for eternity with their initials (c and d) made into a heart above it.
but back to the post...i hope you still broke up with her, instead of, say, staying with her for guilt of making her feel bad, and because of that tattoo. she's wayyyy too obsessed...get out now!!

FYL, You were obviously, whether or not purposefully acting different towards her, becacause apparently your feelings for her had started to waiver, so why, knowing things were different between the 2 of you, would she take it upon herself to make a lifetime committment w/out discussing it prior.
