My wife had an ex like that. It started out with just being overly jealous and getting angry over things to physical abuse. Better to have gotten out of it than find out what he is capable of.

To me, it sounds like your boyfriend either has serious issues or he wanted an excuse to dump you. Either way, you're better off without someone who can't trust you with things as small as where you sit. I would hate to know what he would do if you talked to another man, let alone breathed the same air as they did.

Your ex is definitely insecure. If you are somehow together again help him to see his own great qualities, which will give him confidence, or if he can't then find someone who has that confidence. Been there OP and it's hard.
