The horror!

By duped - 29/10/2011 11:32 - United Kingdom

Today, my boyfriend confessed that he hates horror films. Our relationship was born out of our 'love' for horror films. I have endured 3 years of watching films that absolutely terrify me only to find out he doesn't like them either. FML

You should've been honest with each other from the beginning.

& this is why you don't start any kind of relationship with lies... just be honest! If they're worth it, they like you for you & not just your interests.

So your both superficial idiots! Yay happily ever after:D

That's a story for the kids..."now when you see someone you're attracted to, don't be afraid to lie about you're interests, you never know where it could take you"

It took three years for the truth to come out?

The_Troller 14

But now they both must love each other if put up with movies that they hate for three years just to be together.

Well, now you can bond over your hate of horror films

So no Paranormal Activity huh? Yeah I'm with you.

At least you guys have something in common, you lie to one another in order to impress them..

Uraharas_Bankai 1

To know people lie like this to get someone to like them is horrifying...

At least your real relationship starts now. Some people gotta lie throughout their lifetime in order to please others!

So the fact that he huddled in your lap crying through The Ring wasn't enough of a clue?

*you're Why is it that every time someone calls another person an idiot on this site they make an inexcusable grammar error..

So let me get this right, you have spent 3 years of not communicating a simple thing as not liking a certain type of movie genre....if you can't communicate a SIMPLE desire how do you communicate the big stuff like SEX.....I am pretty sure you are having sex all wrong...sucks...what a waste when you have a voice...

Personally, I wouldn't date a Nazi... Even if he was hot

How do you know OP doesn't have a great relationship and this is something they will laugh about when they're in their old age? Nothing wrong with small/white lies.

wow that's actually some damn good advice!

Well, one way of looking at it... You two no longer have to endure the horror flicks... Now onto the romantic comedies :)

ugh gross romantic comedies are the movies you watch once then forget the name of they are the one night stands of the film industry whereas if you watch a truly glorious horror flick (not the crappy ones like insidious and paranormal activity) then you remember it for years

Hey Bigbird, Im from Fridley to! But living in St. Paul

godofcyanide 8

Agreed with 52. I told one girl I dated about the "Romantic Comedy Formula." After two more movies, she realized I was right, and that was the end of that. ;)

amayasoma 19

Hardly ever, 52. I still to this day remember love and enjoy "50 First dates.' One of my all time favorite romantic comedies.

I do enjoy Adam sandler movies yes I agree little Nicky was good too but those are exceptions to the rule

89 or pretty women *gag* worst movie ever

Romantic comedies?... Like Twilight, right?

God, why the hell would Some one thumb down a comment about living somewhere?

@138 its irrelevant. This is not a dating site hey i too live their lets start a random conversation. no the comment section is not for that

rainbowbigbird 7

It's cool trollsemen, people are jerks :P I enjoy fridley alot! :)

Noooooo! Not the romantic comedies! -screams as Psycho horror music plays in the background-

babelini 12

ydi for not confessing from the beginning.

Another way to look at it - you now have 2 more things in common!!

CaliGali 9

Yea so you both lied to each other.... I wonder why? Are you that desperate or what?

No, Cali has a point. Why would you lie about your interests just to impress someone unless you're that desperate for attention? It's like that other FML about the girl who told a hot guy she was vegetarian while eating a steak. Don't do stupid stuff like that and you won't get into these situations. Just be yourself and if they like it, great; if not, too damn bad.

tsk tsk...asking people not to be rude on the internet. Futility at its finest.

On the bright side, you don't have to endure horror movies anymore

Mister_Triangle 21

On that same bright side: they obviously love each other very much if they both put up with something they hated to please the other.

Kind of weird that your entire relationship would be based on a live of horror films...there should be more to a relationship...in any case YDI for not being honest from the beginning.

She said it was "born" out of it, not based on it. Based on it would suggest it's the reason they are still dating. How the heck could it be based on it if they both hate it? Of course, this also begs the question as to how it could be born out of it, but oh well. OP, that sucks for you. As a side note, quality horror films are the best!

Well "born out of" it makes it seem like that's really all they have in common, plus three years of continuous horror movies...

Hmm, I can perfectly imagine a good relationship being born out of a similar love for horror movies... *OP walks into a video store where she sees an incredible fancy guy* OP: Hi. Future boyfriend: Oh, hello. OP: What movie do you got there? Future boyfriend: *insert random title of a horror movie*. It seems to be very good. OP: Yeah, I've heard that too. Would you like to go to my house and watch it together? Future boyfriend: That would be great! *relationship is born* ...See? But it's a little bit silly to keep pretending for three years.

SirEBC 7

This seems like a fun game. OP: *Walks into video store* Future boyfriend: Ohai. Do you like horror fil- *CHLOROFORM RAG TO FACE* Relationship is born. *SirEBC bows*

Yes but...if they both hate horror films, that scenario just doesn't seem plausible. Then again, how it could even happen that a relationship is born out of this doesn't seem to make much sense either...

I guess it's possible that one of them was looking at a horror film to see if they wanted to try watching it, or maybe for a friend or something, and the other one was like, "oh that looks like a great movie" to start a convo. And then they both started lying their asses off to impress each other with how much they looovvee horror films. :P

y did y'all lie 2 each other?? seems kinda pointless 2 lie bout sumin lyk that
