Today, I flew into New Zealeand to surprise my girlfriend on her trip. In the New Zealand Airport I recieved a text message saying she wanted to break up with me. I live in Michigan and just spent $1,500 for this romantic surprise. FML

I did a similar thing, drove about 1,000 miles to surprise a girl in Oregon...her response when I showed up at her door was: "What are you doing here...?" Oops. Anyway, I really got in touch with myself on that trip and it turned out to be one of the best things I've ever done. You'll find a better girl (I did!) and remember to take advantage of whatever time you have left there! Live your life man!

Something similar happend to my ex. He went to Spain for a wedding. His gf at the time couldn't attend with him because of school; he HAD to go because he was a groomsman. On the way back home, he stopped in MA to visit his gf (he was living in Seattle at the time). This wasn't a surprise visit, either! She knew he was coming. She tells him when they get to her house from the airport (he was supposed to stay w/ her; they'd been dating for 4 years!) that she wants to break up. Making this even more awkward is that the airline misrouted his luggage, and he had to wait for it there...

It's a beautiful country, so get yourself one of those campervans and hit the road and have fun. Stay at the pubs and you'll meet a bunch of people. When they give you lemons, make lemonade!

She met him at the airport..and broke up with him...saying she didn't want to do it over the phone or email.
